R J Staso Heating & Air Conditioning

We starting having problems with our AC running warm May of 2016. Repair tech came out, put some freon in the unit and said it was fixed. The AC is only 4yrs old and I asked him if that was normal that it needed freon on a 4yr old unit and he replied sometimes it is. The AC was running again and I am not a HVAC person so I trusted what he said. To be clear, I have used Staso before and service was positive so had no reason to be skeptical. Fast forward to June 2017, we have the exact same issue with the AC running warm. Same tech came out as before and again added freon. He handed me the bill and when I asked what the problem was, he indicated it was low on freon again. This time though, I asked more questions. Why do I keep needing more freon? There has to be underlying problem. He indicated I might have a leak but couldn't look at it that day. He came back a week later and checked the outside unit for a leak and found none. I questioned again if maybe the problem is with the inside air coils of the furnace they just installed in Jan 2016. He didn't look at it and just said he would order the part and install it. I guess I have to diagnose my own repairs? A month and half go by and I don't hear from them. I called and left messages and a week later someone finally called. They scheduled a service call. On the day of the call, they cancelled due to being busy and asked if they could come back the following day. My unit was still running cold so I was ok with that. He never showed the following day or the next day, so I left a message with the tech. He never called back so I left messages with the owners and they never called back. My unit started running warm again 2 days after he initially cancelled. Frustrated, I opened a consumer complaint with Trane Corporate and related my service experiences. I also called the company again 2 more times and left messages. Still, no one called back. With my AC running warm, I called another company which promptly came the following day. They fixed my issue which was not due to low freon but some basic maintenance that the previous tech should have done. The total cost from the other tech for both service calls was $600 and the unit was still not fixed. The other company fixed my issue for $230. Please note: I have since learned the owner was in the hospital so that could explain the non-returned calls. HOWEVER, someone should have called back as I left several messages with the tech and the office manager. You would also think the receptionist would explain the issue with the owner as well. Terrible communication and service all the way around. I like Trane products but this really soured my brand loyalty.

Service men showed up the next day after getting the quote. They were on time and did all the work in about 4 hours. Very courteous and thorough. Would definitely contact them again for any heating or cooling issues.

Very professional upfront, installation and installers were great. Quality product. Only problem is when we had an issue- the responsiveness went to zero.

I had a tree fall on my air conditioner in September 2010. Insurance was paying for the repairs. I needed to supply the insurance company with an estimate and after having 2 separate companies essentially blow me off on providing estimates a friend recommended RJ Staso. They came within a few days to look at the damage but took several months to provide the actual estimate. As they were very busy with end of year repairs that would qualify for the home repair tax credit so although I was going on several months without providing my insurance company an estimate I was fairly patient with them. I called regularly to check in and the receptionist was very friendly each time and always left them a message for me and she always explained that because of the tax credit cutoff at the end of 2010 they were just too busy to sit down and write the estimate. Once they wrote the estimate the receptionist called to let me know it was sent which I thought was very nice. They waited until early spring to start the work. The 2 workers that came were very polite, professional, clean, and quick. They were on time and completed the job within a few hours. They cleaned up everything and took the old air conditioner with them as well. I have recommended them to others and would use them again.

If I need anything, they will come right out and do it within 24 hours if they are not too busy. They were very good with me. I had three different people come out and give me estimates and R J was only one that recommended good solutions for my furnace.

They came out on time as scheduled and cleaned the furnace and checked that all safety features were in working order. Everything checked out OK; nothing needed repaired.
