What a spectacle befell this neighborhood, twice, when CHIPS Tree Service came to tackle an enprmous
job. Originally I wanted 10 trees in the side yard, some 80 ft high, to be chopped down. We had another tree,
on the inside of the backyard that was bigger than all of the others that we hoped to chop down also but knew, that
tree would not only cost extra, but would require another trip. I had gotten 3 estimates on the 10 trees along
the side and they were 7 and $8000....and then CHIPS was, $3500. The only reason I would have not
gone with CHIPS was because the estimate was almost too unbelievable to be true.
Well---we went with CHIPS and, do not regret it!
From the 1st call to a very engaging receptionist, (Bernadette), to the owner and in the field manager, Paul,
they couldn't have been more professional and nicer.
They had an army of all diff kinds of trucks and people descend upon my corner of the hood plus a huge crane.
For an entire day, they chopped away. AND----finished.
The landscape and view of the whole neighborhood was changed. Was the 1st time in probably 40 or 50
years there was a clear view.
What they did was so impressive, 2 of my neighbors came over and took pictures and then asked
Paul if they could have some of their big trees taken down.
CHIPS gave me another great estimate of the biggest of all those trees. The one in my backyard.
Was fat and highest of all of them. He gave me an estimate of $1200 and on top of that, $350 to ground 2
huge stumps down to dust.
They had to come back to do that job, and that was when my 2 neighbors got their trees chopped down too.
Once again, the neighborhood was filled with trucks and a big crane.
In the end, the cost was around $5000. Including taking down the giant ash tree in the backyard, and grounding 2 stumps.
I can just imagine what the other estimates, (the 7 and a 8 thou estimates), would have been to include the huge ash tree and the grounding of 2 stumps over a yard wide in circumference.
The only reason I gave CHIPS a B in and quot;Responsivnessand quot; and and quot;Punctualityand quot;, were because, after giving the
initial and quot;okand quot;, to Bernadette... ...I got no warning.before they came. Either time. We were not in a hurry
and it was no problem but, I was caught unaware. In their defense...I didn't push the issue either. Like I
said---I was in no hurry.
Believe me when I say....
After my dealings with the last Landscaping co, (CMI--posted in My Angie's List).---- CHIPS was a breath of fresh air.
