Hair Salons/Barbers
$65

I work near the salon (which just opened) and was excited knowing that it would be convenient to stop in and get my hair done.  I have frequented the salon many times and recommended the salon to many family members (which I now regret).  I have been getting my hair colored at reputable hair salons for many, many years and have never had the problems that I currently have.

They promote using the finest hair color, Dikson, which is quality hair color (I did my research).  After having my hair colored with this over the course of 2 years my hair is so dry, damaged and in poor shape.  My daughter also had her hair colored there and whenever she went to Philip Pelusi they told her that her hair is so damaged that it would take over a month of extensive conditioning and had to take off 3 inches to be able to get her hair back to health.  She wasn't even able to get a color until she did the month long treatment.  I overheard when I was in the salon Brandi, the stylist, talking to a client who wanted to make an appointment to get her hair colored.  Brandi said they were "out" of her color and that the "truck" was to come in by the next day.  The owner happened to walk in and saw her name in the appointment book and shouted "Brandi, I will be right back, I have to run up to Sally's Beauty and pick up that hair color".  Dikson hair color is available by licensed professionals ONLY!  You can only pick up junk hair color at Sally's.  All this time I have been paying for quality hair color and recieving something that I could have done myself.  They're doing the ole' bait and switch.  You can't trust that they are using the products they claim they are using.
Now for my haircut.  I was growing out my bangs and after the frustration of trying to keep them out of  my face I decided to go back to my fringy, light bangs.  I told Brandi exactly what I wanted.  What I recieved was totally different.  She cut my bangs so heavy I now look like a mushroom head.  When I went back for a trim and told her not to do that again she said "well, if you want those light, fringy bangs you'll look like a little kid".  She was so put-out that she had to do what I wanted and told me that if I didn't like how she styled my hair that I would be free to go elsewhere (which is what I did).
The atmosphere is so high pressure to buy their essential oils, face moisturizers, jewelry, etc.  It's like being a sitting duck for whatever get-rich-quick scheme they have that week.
In conclusion, I wouldn't recommend anyone to their salon .  In fact, whenever I see anyone go in there I feel really sorry for them because their damaged hair will end up on the floor (cut off by a "real" stylist).
