About us
CURRENT UPDATE Hello Thank you for clicking on my Angies List Profile. I am back and still in business. The Covid thing has been trying. As noted below many things have changed. This is an update to that. I am back to me, responding, looking at, estimating and doing the work. Quite overwhelming for one person. Reputable help is extremely hard to come by. Because of that I can only get to so many a day, week and month. That has become a problem for some members here. I’d like to thank you for your understanding and do wish I could get back to each and every one of you in the time frame desired. I sadly am not meeting that demand. I encourage you to text and email me outside the Angie’s List app. When I sit here and scroll through the hundreds, I get lost in the madness. I’m now getting “F” ratings based on work I’ve never done and it’s gonna make my Angie’s list presence disappear. I personally don’t see that as a fair shake being that I’m completely upfront about how things go and are going with updates like this one. Thank you all and be safe. I still put out top notch work and will continue to do so even though I may go away in Angie’s list. *COVID 19 update. Hi folks and I continue to thank all of you clicking on my company for the work you desire. We have always provided the best possible service we could, based upon the understanding, the goals and end product desired,by everyone of our customers. For ten years now ( Goodmudders officially started in 2010). This turned out to be the approach so so many of you wanted in a company you hire. I kind of expected that, to be honest. In fact,it was the image we chased. What I didn’t expect that is that so many of you had a hard time finding some who could do what I couldn’t do at the time. So many of you have waited, delayed and made your schedule around us!!! That’s amazing and truly something I would have never of seen coming. What that did though was put an extremely high demand upon us. The requests became never ending. I want to apologize for not getting back to those that reached out, did their best to contact us in the exact ways as anyone would. I had an absolute goal in the beginning of all this to never leave anyone hanging. I sadly could not keep up. Things went well for us. We adapted and absorbed all the bumps and bruises that came with growing. We used that to refine our ways. That’s until this recent ”new normal” we now ALL live with. Being in a small business and I personally handle the business side and communication side of this, when school was canceled for me and my family that squarely landed upon my shoulders. My wife is a nurse and her schedule could not change,so mine had to. There is so very much that change effects. My time is no longer doing estimates and defining scope of work it became digging in deep to learning elementary school all over again ( getting up to speed really) on how to home school my kids. This wiped me out to be completely honest. It will get better, I know but that became an overreaching reason for applying my time to other than Goodmudders. I’m not an essential business. Even if I was an essential business what I can do is limited. The amount of full days, and all over the map “times that i can” is a the new reality I find myself in. Another compounding factor is, its not just me. The ones I call on to help in this whole Goodmudders thing are pivoting their lives as well. It’s come down to me, what I can do and when I can do it. If you’re still with me after all the above, I hope you appreciate what I’m about to say. Building this Goodmudders thing is something I always and still do believe in. I was just a kid with ambition when this thing started. It came from nothing and was made into something. I have no plans of letting go and going out of business. I’m tried though, like never before. It’s almost gonna be a restart, in a different time, when this is over and a new wa

Also, they can recommend and excellent electrician if you need any electrical work done before buttoning up the walls.
GoodMudders was also just a great group of guys. They worked fast and got done ahead of time, but were always laughing and joking and having a good time together. Small thing, but they all wore matching shirts, so they looked put together. Donny is super nice too.
I recommended them to my neighbors here in Shadyside for a small patch job from a water leak and they loved GoodMudders too.
I called Goodmudder's primarily to fix the hole in my ceiling, but also to lay down plywood throughout my attic, so that we would 1.) have a lot more storage space, and 2.) never have a hole in the ceiling again. While they were here, I decided to get them to fix a small hole in my garage wall 2'x2' big. It took a little while to get Donald from Goodmudder's to respond, but out of the numerous companies I called to help, he was one of only two that actually bothered to call back. His quote was slightly higher, but that was because he actually came to my house to look at the job requirements, and I felt by his reputation that it would be well worth it.
We set a specific date and time for them to do the work, and they showed up very promptly. They built a scaffold to reach the 20' ceiling, and fixed it promptly. They also did a great job matching the texture of the old ceiling to the new repair. In the meantime, Donald and his team worked very hard for 1.5 full days in my cold attic laying down plywood and nailing it in place, around all the vents and electrical cables that were laying there. That part took much more time and energy than I expected, but they did a fantastic job in the end.
The day they arrived, I also asked out of the blue if they could help take care of a small nagging problem with my entertainment center -- that part turned out to be more complicated than I originally thought, but they handled it with ease, making sure to maintain a complex custom paint job in the process.
The only problem was of my creation -- I tried paying with online bill pay, but instead of taking 2 days or so it apparently took my bank a full week. I'll always pay service providers by check from here on in.
They cleaned up after themselves more thoroughly than I would have cleaned my own house, and were courteous and professional the entire time. These guys are great, and I will definitely call upon them in the future.
Goodmudders definitely changed our thinking and we saw that there actually are contractors that do as they promise and do things in a timely manner. Again, even though they weren't the lowest price, we couldn't be happier paying a little more for the quality work they provided and the timeliness of the job. They stuck with the schedule they had given us, showed up on time, and actually put in a full days work each day until the job was complete.
They were courteous, cleaned up after themselves, and again we can't stress enough how quality their work is. We will definitely be using them for any future projects as we now know what it means to work with a caring and professional contractor.
More contractors need to be like Goodmudders and care about the people that give them business.
A spare bedroom of mine that I use as an office had a splatter paint effect done by a previous owner. Latex paint was used and it appeared to be flung onto the walls and ceiling (and many other surfaces in the room) by just loading paint brushes and whipping them across the room. This created heavy paint streaks everywhere that were nearly impossible to cover. I didn't want to do a texture paint effect to try to hide the splatter, and I didn't want to wallpaper the room either; I was looking to get the walls back to as close to flat as possible. There was no way a few coats of paint would cover it. Since it was latex paint, sanding was pretty much out of the question. And with drywall, a heat gun to loosen an scrape away the paint wasn't really an option either.
After having several friends, extended friends of the family, and finally, professional contractors out to look at the room and offer suggestions, I was basically down to two options: tear down the existing drywall to the studs and re-drywall the entire room (including ceiling), or try to find an expert that could skim coat the entire room to level out the walls and cover the mess that was made with the splatter effect.
I had gone through at least half a dozen contractors that I either felt wouldn't do the job justice or were incredibly expensive. Granted, this job was probably out-of-the-ordinary for most contractors, but I didn't get a good feeling from anyone early on. Had I chosen to re-drywall the entire room, not only would it have been invasive, but also very expensive. Then along came Donny Stefanovich from Goodmudders. I followed Donny's suggestions in his profile on Angie's List that emailing him was the best way to reach him, and within a day of my initial email, he had responded back with a time that he could come out to give me an estimate. He re-worked his schedule a bit to fit me in and when he saw the room, he was confident that he could make my room look like new with the skim coat technique. This was much less time intensive, required very little demolition, and was much more reasonably priced than completely re-drywalling the entire room.
The original estimate was that it would take 2-3 days. Since my job was relatively minor in comparison to other jobs Donny and Stan do and because it was at a busy time of year for them, he asked if I could be flexible with my schedule because that would allow them to fit me in between other jobs and therefore get my job completed earlier. My employer allowed me that flexibility, so all I needed was a few days notice. After a few emails over the following two weeks ironing out the details of the job, we settled on some final decisions, and then I just needed to wait for Donny to be able to fit me in. He thought it would be a couple of weeks, which I was fine with. Well, within a few days of our last email, Donny emailed back to let me know he could fit me in the following week. This was only about three weeks after our initial correspondence, which I was thrilled with because I was really looking forward to having the job done before the holidays. Donny and Stan came out on Monday of Thanksgiving week to start the job. They laid drop cloths over the entire room and down all hallways where they would be walking to and from their truck, and they set to work.
By the end of day one, I could already see the improvements. The splatter paint was nearly unnoticeable, and I was getting excited for my "new" room. When Tuesday morning rolled around, I unfortunately came down with a stomach illness, but I knew it was too late in the morning to ask Donny and Stan to reschedule. This was also a day when the weather forecasters were calling for several inches of snow turning into an ice storm by the afternoon. Despite the travel difficulties caused by the weather, Donny and Stan showed up as scheduled and set to work while I laid on the couch feeling nauseated. Throughout that second day, they were very respectful of my not feeling well and kept working to get the job done. Luckily, the ice storm turned into just a rain event, and Donny and Stan were able to complete the job in two days. They actually stayed both days until about 6:30-7:00 PM to make sure they got the job done right. In fact, I thought they had nearly finished by about 4:00 PM on the second day but then I saw them starting to mix up another batch of the drywall mud. When we did the final walk-through, they explained that the ceiling wasn't up to their standards (at 4:00 PM) so they worked at it some more until they were happy with it. I had looked at the room at 4:00 PM and I didn't notice any flaws, but I appreciated the extra effort they made to ensure it was done right.
Because the splatter paint was on pretty much every surface (including the trim, window sill, and closet door), I also had Goodmudders replace the trim around the door, which was done quickly and looks great, too. The walls and ceiling are completely flat now and the splatter paint is now just a memory. The final cost of the job was exactly what we had discussed during our emails, so there were no surprises there.
I am completely satisfied with the work that Donny and Stan did. They were absolute professionals throughout the entire process, and they cleaned up so well after they left that it was hard to tell drywall contractors had even been to my house. All of our communication was done through email and Donny is clear in his Angie's List description that that is the best way to get in contact with him. So, if anyone is looking to have drywall work done, I would strongly recommend emailing Donny at Goodmudders. You will not be disappointed with the work they do.
"I never received any of the texts, emails or phone calls from this woman. The name shows nowhere in my emails. Her address says Ohio. I live in PA, I don't work in Ohio. Really People. If you do try to contact me try to understand that we are A small company and if I don't return a phone call, text or email it simply means I am busy. We are highly rated which means we get a ton of inquiries and means we cannot possibly answer them all. If you want to get an immediate response from someone who is just waiting for your call, email or text, call the company with Ds and Fs. They'll have plenty of time."
across Donnie and the Goodmudders.
After two email conversations, Donnie met me at the house and we thoroughly looked over the entire 2400 sq. foot property. Instead of making preemptive excuses about the difficult areas in the house, he took the time to explain what his guys and he would do in order to rectify the situation. After meeting for an hour I knew the Goodmudders were right for the job. In the next few days we came to terms and decided on a start date.
I was very happy with the efficiency in which they hung the 5/8? drywall that I had decided to use on all of the walls and ceilings
throughout the house. But, the true craftsmanship started when they began finishing the drywall. Donnie, Mark and Stan spent countless hours applying layers of mud to straighten out wavy walls, bowed corners and imperfect knee wall angles. After about 3 weeks of taping, mudding, re-mudding, mudding again and sanding, the job was done to perfection. My wife and I could not be happier with the results.
It is not often said about contractors, but the Goodmudders were awesome to work with. They show up early, they work late, were always respectful and most importantly are outstanding drywall finishers - truecraftsman.
If you have a drywall project, you would be amiss if you did not contact the Goodmudders!
"Well this is gonna happen from time to time. The amount of phone call received is quite huge. As stated in my profile we are small and very busy and can only take on so much work. I think most people can understand that and if a return call is not made, it is not because I'm not being a jerk or avoiding anyone it is quite simply TOO BUSY. We are a highly rated company on Angie's List for a reason. We provide a top notch service to every customer 1 at a time. We never spread ourselves too thin and take on as much as we can manage at a given time. Thank you for trying to contact us and sorry for not being able to get back to you, this does happen. I mean no offense when I say call the lower rated guy, he has more time than I. That is a fact."
We did not hear from him for about 10 days but then he called and made an appointment to give an estimate.
His estimate was in line with others we received and he told us when the work could be done. We asked if he could start a few days earlier than scheduled (we had a carpet delivery date we needed to meet) and he said he would try to accommodate.
Goodmudders started working several days earlier than initially estimated. They were courteous and professional throughout and kept us apprised of estimated completion date. The work was completed ahead of the original schedule and to our great satisfaction. We highly recommend them for drywall and/or painting work.
"I apologize for not getting back. We get a huge volume of emails and calls. Being a small company focused on quality it at times is one job at a time. I thought I did give an email response, but may have missed it,it does happen. If therethere is something more I can do please let me know."
