I bought. Deal for eight hours of work. He was on time, did the work I asked, and was nice to work with. The only negative is that he has a busy schedule, so sometimes you have to wait a while til he can gt to your job.

Darrell arrived on time and communicated with my husband and I throughout the process. He brought additional materials to assist in completion of the project. He worked diligently to complete the task well and thoroughly.

It was great. He was excellent. The thing I liked about him, being that he was a contractor, he did not require any money up front. He charged $40 an hour and that was it and I paid him at the end of the week. He remodeled a house for me. He did the kitchen, the bathroom, he painted, he did trim and pretty much everything. Doors and windows.

We contracted with Viola Building & Remodeling for an Angie's List special ($249 for 8 hours of contractor services). This was to repair a badly rotted section of soffit and fascia, and paint the entire soffit and fascia on that side of the house. We also needed several other runs of soffit and fascia on the house painted , and asked Darryl for an estimate to do the additional work once the first 8 hours was done.
I can't say enough good things about this experience! Darryl contacted us right away once we had ordered the special deal. He came out within a very reasonable timeframe to look at what needed to be done, and see what materials were needed. Right away I was impressed with his knowledge and thoroughness. We had had a couple other people out to estimate the work, but they either couldn't do the carpentry work or had to hire it out to someone else; Darryl could do it all! And his prices are very fair. Due to the weather, the work couldn't be done right away, but he kept in touch with me regularly. After a couple of cancellations due to weather, we finalized a day. He showed up on time, did 100% of the work contracted for within the 8-hour day, and we had him back the next day to finish up the other work. He completed everything we had talked about, did a great job, and charged his standard rate, which is quite reasonable, for the extra work. All told, with the first day's special rate and the second day's work, we spent a little more than $500. He thoroughly answered any questions I had and didn't try to con me into thinking I needed any more done than what was necessary.
I was happy that he gave us the option of buying the materials and paint ourselves, which some contractors don't do. We had him buy the lumber for the repair work, but bought the paint ourselves. I prefer certain brands of paint, and appreciated the option of selecting that myself.
We have been looking for a general contractor/handyman person for some years, as the fellow we used to use isn't around anymore. We've found that independent, self-employed contractors such as Darryl--when you can find a reputable, competent one--generally provide the best work at the fairest prices, and like to give our business to them. But finding one is hard, and we're very glad we found Darryl through Angie's List! We plan on having him back later this summer to do some additional work, and have a large project that needs to be done next year. We plan to have Darryl do this as well.
We would recommend Darryl without reservation to anyone looking for a good contractor.
Thank you, Darryl, and thank you, Angie's List!

From start to finish Viola Contractors provided A+ work. Quality workmanship! Before he left I scheduled him to come back and work on some other projects, including adding on to our deck.

It went well. Darrell is very efficient and he does carpentry, electrical ( if it is not major) and most any other type of renovation or repair.

Darrel installed a new deck, a new sliding door, and a new front storm door. I was able to remove the old desk myself to save some money. The quality of work is impressive and Darrel is very easy to work with. He is professional and cares about what he does. He cleans everything up as he goes and keeps you in the loop. His price was better than the other 3 estimates that I got. He is very fast and efficient. I would definitely recommend him to anyone.

Daryll called me shortly after i bought the deal. After dealing with the difficulties of my schedule, we set a date. Daryll arrived when he said he'd be there and when i came home from work, everything was done and looked great. I would definitely recommend Viola Building and Remodeling to others!

He came right on time, we went to hardware stores to pick wainscoting and crown molding. He then worked quickly and efficiently to complete all tasks, allowing time for the drywall to dry while he did other things. His recommendations for materials were good. He also suggested using polyurethane instead of paint, which actually worked out much better than paint would have. It took him pretty exactly the 8 hours on the coupon to do these tasks and finish cleaning up. He was friendly.

We have one bedroom with what we believed to be 2 layers of wallpaper. Darrell worked one day stripping the wallpaper. We then learned that what we believed was the base layer was, in fact, two more layers of wall paper. Darrell came back for an additional day in order to get down to the room's original plaster.

Darrell Viola was fabulous! We had 3-days worth of small jobs -- some plumbing, some electrical, building drawers and lowering a chain-link fence. Our house was built in 1960, so nearly every job included something unexpected and challenging, but Darrell solved every problem. He was extremely responsive to our questions and suggestions, and touched base often during every project. He is committed to providing quality work, pays close attention to details, and is respectful of the budget, routinely providing multiple options and costs to choose from. We could not be happier with Darrell and his work and plan to use him as our regular handyman. In addition, we are recommending him to friends and family who are having difficulty, as we did before Darrell, finding a reliable, affordable, qualified, friendly handyman. We give the highest recommendation possible to Darrell Viola!

The quoted price was $4,200. I liked him a lot; he was very down to earth and there were no smoke and mirrors at all.

Darrell was very professional. He showed up on time. I gave him a list of 14 items that needed to be fixed. He worked his way through the list, in less than 8 hours. I'm very pleased w the results.

Darrell sealed a leaking space beneath french doors in our sunroom. Because it had not been properly installed to begin with, he had a challenge to close the space, but did a nice job sealing it up.
Additionally, we had a leak in our bedroom ceiling (resulting in a soggy brown spot) and could not identify where it originated. Darrell climbed onto roof to check out vent pipe but couldn't determine for certain if the problem was originating there. We did not have any access to space between our ceiling and the roof. Together we agreed that we needed to create an access to this space. Darrell cut a hole into ceiling of a guest bedroom closet ceiling (constructing door using piece of ceiling he had cut out, then trimmed with wood frame.) Excellent job-we really needed to way a way to access that space--just never got around to it!
Once he crawled up into roof area, he found that the vent pipe inside/beneath roof was cracked and broken. Ice and water filled the pipe and had been leaking down into our ceiling. Darrell replace the pipe, repaired the ceiling hole and stained area.
We live in rural area. Not only did Darrell drive a distance to help us, he needed some materials and had to make some runs to two local businesses (not nearby, but as "local" as you get for a rural area!) We appreciated this.
We were very pleased with Darrell Viola's work, professionalism, work ethic and kindness.
We definitely would call him again, and would happily refer him to others needing home repair!

I called Darrell for an estimate and he came to my home and provided one very quickly. Work was performed when promised and quicker than expected. There needed to be some changes to the original plan due to unforeseen complications. Darrell adapted his original plan which caused extra work and materials but did not charge me more than the original estimate. I found him to be a very sociable, polite and trustworthy man. I am extremely pleased with the end product and will definitely call him for my next project.

We are extremely pleased with the finished product. For years we have tried to find someone to do this kind of work at our home and never found someone reasonable who completed quality work. We were fortunate to find Viola and would recommend to anyone looking for such a carpenter.

He is an independent contractor. He comes from New Cumberland. I spent about $900. He redid the molding around our fireplace. He rebuilt the mantel and he re-tiled the surrounding area around the fireplace as well as the part in front of the fireplace. He did a really nice job with the carpentry part, especially with the wood working. He really listened to my ideas about what I wanted it to look like. He got it done in 30 days and charged me what he said he would charge. I will definitely use him again in the future.
