Off the bat Kim was insisting that I wire the funds for settlement. I was not comfortable with wiring funds and preferred to bring a check BUT Kim was very insistant (and to be quite honest kind of rude) and stated that if the funds were not wired she would not complete the transaction. Then jump forward to two days prior to settlement.. keep in mind that I was selling another property the morning of the settlement for my new property and needed to tell the title company for that morning the dollar amount that needed to be wired to River''s Edge Abstract.. I contacted River's Edge in regards to the HUD-1 I should have been receiving, I mentioned that I needed to know the amount that needed to be wired to them for the purchase of my new property.. Several phone calls later I still had not received an answer as to what funds were needed. I contacted my realtor who was finally able to get in contact with Kim and was told I would need $11,000.00 to be wired for our settlement.. The morning of settlement in the middle of settlement for the property I was selling I received a phone call from Kim stating that I needed an additional $4000.00 to be wired to her office. Apparently, she has miscalculated the taxes.. That was not that big of an issue i was able to have the amount changed.. Flash forward to that afternoon when I arrived at River's Edge office for settlement. As soon as I walked in the door Kim approached me and asked me about the wire transaction. Now I had already called my bank to verify if I had received my wire for the additional proceeds not needed from the first settlement for the purchase of the new property.. Kim states that she did not receive her wire, I mentioned to Kim that I had already received my wire in my personal account 2 hours prior to arriving in her office I provided her with the telephone number for the title company where I had attended settlement earlier the same day. Kim stated that she is unable to find the wire.. at this point all i can think is if you would have allowed me to bring the check as I wanted to we would not be having this issue.. We waited for over two hours for Kim to try to get this issue resolved and when we left the office it had still not been resolved. We said our goodbyes outside her office (myself, my realtor, my realtors broker and the sellers of the property) and as I was pulling out of the parking lot Kim came running to my vehicle I abruptly stopped and was expecting her to say that she had gotten everything resolved and that she needed us to come back into my office BUT to my surprise she was flagging me down to ask me to go to the bank and get a cashiers check for another $15000.00 and when she figures out what happened to the wire for $15000.00 she will have a check issued to me... At this point I have to be honest I was thinking this women must be insane she can't find the first $15000.00 I gave her and now she thinks I am going to give her another $15000.00 YEAH OK!! Needless to say I did not give her a check for an additional $15000.00 my realtor and her broker were both appalled that she ever have the nerve to ask me for a check after her company was unable to locate the wired funds. My realtor and her broker were both very apologetic and assured me that they would never be using River's Edge again. Eventually everything was figured out and taken care of but this all could have been avoided had I been allowed to bring a check as I had wanted to all along.
