About us

At Window Nation, we know replacement windows. We’re third-generation window replacement experts who have been lucky to provide homeowners replacement windows, siding, and doors for over fifteen years. We opened our first showroom in Maryland in 2006, quickly growing to serve homeowners in cities across the country – and we’re not stopping there. We’re grateful for every homeowner who has trusted us to upgrade their most important asset: their home. We’ve learned a lot about home improvement over the years, but the most important thing we learned isn’t about window replacement. We learned the home improvement industry isn’t about offering the best windows, siding and doors; it’s about the relationships we build with our customers.

He show me a tiny sample. He did not have a brochure. He explain everything. But they have an ad that is a bogo. He gave me a price with a 40% off. but that not a bogo price. If i pay cash it would 15000. but that not a discount. The other company is lower. He told me that i have 30 days. Turns out to 3 days cancel. I cancel on the third day. With a letter by mail. They stated he will send my check through mail. If i did not cancel they would have kept my deposit of 5000. Still haven't received my check. This was Monday. It was high pressure sales. Very unprofessional.
Response from Window Nation Pittsburgh

"We are very sorry you had this experience with our company. Be assured that you were provided the BOGO offer, as it is valid only on the product portion of the job (not the labor) and amounts to less than the 40% off you received. Our Exterior Design Consultant should have clearly explained this to you, so we apologize that this obviously did not occur. We also apologize about you feeling "pressured" to order from us as that is certainly never our intention. Because of that, we are happy you were able to exercise your right to cancel. Please be assured that you will receive a refund of your deposit within 10 business days."

from the sales rep through the fabrication of the new window was awesome. the installers arrived on time. they were friendly and fun. they knew their craft and product very well. they finished in just a few hours and were even able to save the roof part of the old bay and keep it above the new window. definitely call window nation.

Overall it went fine, just don't fall for the buy 1 get 1 free garbage. You're going to pay about $1000 a window when all is said and done. Doesn't matter who's selling. They're relatively new to the Pittsburgh area and do the full presentation and want you and your spouse or co-owner, etc. It's really over the top, but we wanted the best quality window. The sale went fine, the followup measure was OK and the guy was professional and courteous. Their communications fell down after that and not sure if we were in-line on the schedule or my calling got us there, but it took a few months for the windows to be manufactured and prepared. Installation was fine, the crew were really good and we're happy with the work. For my taste, a little too much BS and a formulaic sales process.

"Good Morning, Thank you for providing us with your feedback. We understand that our sales process may be time consuming, but we hope you can understand that it so we can provide you with the best customer experience possible. ABSOLUTELY TERRIBLE FROM START TO FINISH !!! I called Window Nation in the beginning of February 2018 since I saw on TV they had a special going. It was free financing for 18 months and buy two windows, get two free. I scheduled for them to come to my home on 2/21/18. Salesman, Cameron H., arrived and things went well for the first hour or so. He gave his sales pitch about Window Nation and all the "great" awards they have earned over the years and how satisfied other customers have been, etc. He did his rough measuring of our windows and gave us a price quote. My wife and I were happy with the quote so we talked it over and agreed we were ready to do business with Window Nation. What a mistake! I reviewed the paperwork prior to signing and realized Cameron gave us a quote for only 7 windows instead of 8! He realized his mistake and called his supervisor, Ray P. Well, our quote quickly went up by about $700 or so because of adding on the 8th window. We were disappointed with Cameron at that point. It was like the old "bait and switch" sales tactic. I should have just ended it there but Cameron stayed a little longer and we again decided to go with Window Nation since the financing terms were good and our monthly payment did not go up that much with the added 8th window. During Cameron's visit, it was agreed prior to signing the contract that the old windows will be taken out and all materials needed for the install were included with the new windows. A few weeks later, an installer came out to do an exact measurement for the windows. While he was there, he questioned me on what Cameron wrote on the paperwork regarding tearing out the old windows. I told him what Cameron told me....tear the entire window out and replace it with a new window. The installer advised that due to the old style of casement windows, there was going to be a lot of materials needed to install the new windows and it may require an increase in price. Once I heard this, I was very upset. A few hours later, I called Cameron and asked him how this could've happened. He acted as though it wasn't a huge deal and stated he will work on it and get back to me. I called his supervisor, Ray P., since I was not satisfied with Cameron's answer. I told Ray that Cameron apparently did not know what he was doing when he gave us the first quote that we agreed on and signed for. Ray advised he would send out a supervisor of the installation crew to make sure the first installer was correct with the installation process and all the materials supposedly needed. At that point I was very mad and very frustrated with Window Nation because they were basically breaking the contract that I signed and that they agreed on. In the meantime, our (my wife and I) credit was ran for financing and the $560.00 check for down payment was already cashed by Window Nation. A few weeks later a supervisor from the installation crew came to my house and did another exact measurement and verified that a lot more building materials would be needed in order for the windows to be installed correctly. A couple of days after that Cameron contacted me and advised the extra materials would run us an additional $1500.00. So, from the original price of $5300.00 we now were at $7500.00!! (What a bait and switch). We scheduled our install date for 05/01/18 and 05/02/18. My wife took off of work on 05/01 and I took off work on 05/02. They were supposed to arrive between 8:00am - 10:00am on 05/01. At about 10:15 am, my wife called Jennifer (Customer Service) and asked where the installers were. She said that she tried calling us the day before and left a message saying they were short staffed and were going to send two crews to do the job on 05/02. I never received any phone call or message whatsoever saying they would not be coming on 05/01. So basically Jennifer lied to us. A install crew showed up on 05/02 at 8:00am. At about 8:30 am the crew leader advised us that the windows could not be installed because they were all measured incorrectly by the install supervisor that came out for the second measuring. The same install supervisor who measured the windows showed up during all of this due to the crew leader contacting him via phone. The supervisor and the install crew had a meeting outside and then the supervisor left. The crew leader came back in and said that they were able to now install them "magically". They installed two windows and the crew leader then told me that he was not going to continue the job because the windows were measured incorrectly and he would feel horrible knowingly putting the wrong size windows in. They measured the windows again that same day and said they were going to push the factory for a rush order and hopefully they would be back within two weeks. I was pretty much sick to my stomach at this point and my wife was in tears. Jennifer called me a few hours after the install crew left and said they were going to rush the windows and scheduled me for 05/14/18. On 05/14 the same install crew arrived at 8:00 am and finished the job to our satisfaction, other than smashing my roof vent (they fixed it after I asked them to). I honestly have to say the install crew was the only somewhat positive note of this whole nightmare. Window Nation NEVER offered to compensate us in any way, shape, or form during this 3 month ordeal. Ray, Cameron, and some other guy that showed up on the job (who said he was a customer satisfaction consultant) never called us back asking us how things went with the install. We feel Window Nation is unprofessional, misleading, they lie, and don't care about their customers...they just want their money!!! If you are considering Window Nation, I would HIGHLY recommend reconsidering your decision. Do your research on them because you will see other reviews very similar to ours.
Response from Window Nation Pittsburgh

WARNING: BEWARE OF DOING BUSINESS WITH WINDOW NATION! My husband and I chose Window Nation out of Monroeville, PA (near Pittsburgh) to install 21 new Potomac windows in our home because they were advertising a buy 1 can 1 free deal. After the windows were installed, we heard from a very reliable source that the ACTUAL cost of our windows were about $600 a piece. Ours figured out to be $1,037 per window with parts and labor WITH the buy 1 get 1 free deal. It figures out to about $2,074 per window WITHOUT the deal! Two of our windows were very small picture windows and they charged us $1,179 per window WITH the buy 1 get 1 deal. This means that each of those small windows would be $2,358 WITHOUT the buy 1 get 1 deal! I spoke with a guy from Vytex (the window manufacturer) and he confirmed that our window costs about $600 per window! My husband decided to anonymously call Window Nation to ask what the price was for the same size Potomac Window that we had installed. The woman tried to avoid the question for quite some time until my husband insisted on an answer. She finally confirmed what we already knew....about $600 per window. I then decided to do some research and emailed a woman who had 1 Potomac window installed from Window Nation. She replied saying that her Window cost her about $670. I'm guessing they hope nobody calculates the cost per window on a larger job. We felt very cheated! My husband spoke to the sales manager, Ray Price, many times. As he tried to justify the amount, numbers did not add up. We asked for a price breakdown right from the start and they would not provide one. After a month of pleading with them and corresponding back and forth via email, Mr. Price finally sent it to me. We are astounded by the individual price of each window! We certainly do not agree with the price per window....especially after hearing many times over what the TRUE cost of each window was. For a company who tries to obtain 100% customer satisfaction, they definitely failed with us. Mr. price turned our complaint over to his boss, Shawn Gallagher, the Regional Sales Manager. I insisted that the only way we would continue to communicate is via email and I never received one single email from Mr. Gallagher. I strongly advise NOT TO USE WINDOW NATION! They are the epitome of "The Middle Man!" We should've went with Window World as we have since learned that basically the same windows are considerably cheaper through them. Always ask for a cost breakdown before moving forward with any project! I pray nobody ever has to deal with overpaying like we did! I WILL NEVER RECOMMEND WINDOW NATION AND WILL SHARE MY STORY ENDLESSLY!
Response from Window Nation Pittsburgh

"Window Nation has an established history of providing quality home improvement products and exemplary customer satisfaction. For this particular project, we installed our highest quality windows at industry-competitive prices. Our representatives carefully presented and explained the scope and pricing of windows before the job was ordered. The [Member Name Removed] then committed to a written contract and the project was timely completed without incident. After the project was completed, the [Member Name Removed] began complaining about pricing. Even though Window Nation is under no obligation to do so, we engaged the [Member Name Removed] to address any legitimate concerns regarding their recent experience with Window Nation. Unfortunately, these particular customers' concerns cannot be addressed at this time, however, we remain ready, willing and able to discuss a mutually agreeable resolution with these customers if they so desire."

We replaced 18 windows. We had the original windows from 1911 still and finally replaced them. The installation took much longer than expected because we continuously got rescheduled after their first day of installation so our original wood was exposed to the elements for over a month. Their corporate office was extremely understanding about why this upset us and guaranteed that if we ever discover damage to that wood they will take full responsibility and fix it no matter how many years later we may find the damage. Overall the windows are nice. We supposedly got upgraded ones, but nothing about them actually screams “upgraded”. The installation crew was very nice and didn’t leave messes all over our home, however, some of the culking isn’t all that cleanly done. I’m also disappointed that they got culk on the glass and didn’t clean it off all the way so now I’m scrubbing every window to try to get it all off. My husband isn’t thrilled with overall quality for the price we paid. Mind you, we even bought windows during one of their huge sales and it still cost us over $1,000 per window. It’s a huge investment and we needed windows, but I definitely don’t think the price we paid was 100% worth it. Yeah, I’d recommend them but don’t buy unless they’re running a special. I can’t imagine the cost if there wasn’t any special going on.
Response from Window Nation Pittsburgh

"[Member Name Removed], we appreciate your patience and understanding with us throughout your installation. We do consistently run offers to provide our customers with competitive prices, so we hope that we can meet your budget if you plan to purchase anymore windows in the future. Thank you!"

This company is the definition of high pressure sales. The salesman spent two hours going through their "superior products" and professional company employed installers etc etc..it was quite clear the sales person was relying on someone at the other end of the phone to take the generic measurements the sales person just took to work up a bogus estimate.so after two hours of being pressured and shown a bunch of science experiments and not so smooth talk we got a number written on a post it note with the one year estimate..then ten more minutes of blah blah blah to get the 30 day estimate..then 10 more mins of the high pressure today estimate..the today estimate was just about 50 percent of the 1 year ..all with no details on materials..labor..etc..no written estimate to keep..this is a bad way to do business..this is just a bad business...look at their review history it speaks for itself..I wont be hiring them at any time..neither should you

This is to add to another review I've already left because now there is another new issue. Once again my bay window is leaking, about a month and a half after the first bay window leak. I come home to my carpet being soaked, bay seat soaked. curtains soaked, you get the picture. I'm at a loss for words about this company. All I know is I will never recommend this company to anybody. Old issue We signed the contract July 7, somebody came to measure July 14. Everything was going well and initially the windows would be installed mid-August. Then I hadn't heard from anybody and had to email my sales rep August 15. He said he'd let me know the following day. 3 days later I emailed him because I had yet to hear from him. A Week after contacting him I receive an email from the installers saying somebody would be in contact soon to set a date/time for installation. A week and a half goes by and still nothing from the installers. So I email our sales rep again, Sept 5, asking what was going on. He doesn't get back to me until a week later. This is now 2 months since the contract was signed. The windows were installed Sept 21-22. THEN November 18 we notice our bay window is leaking and now the wood is stained and warping. Emailed sales rep that night. He answered right away and said he forwarded it on to customer service and if we hadn't heard from them in 3 days to let him know. We got a call on the 4th day saying somebody would be out to the house to check it out, from the outside. They recaulked/resealed the bay. However, the damage is done. The installation manager called a week and a half later asking if water was still getting in. We said yes. Then he asked for the pictures of the leak, I sent them the next day. And now we wait to see if things get resolved. ^ They came and sealed it because they didn't do that the first time

9 windows were installed without issue. the 10th window, which was the big picture window was originally measured incorrectly. it was too big for the opening, so they had to order another window. luckily, they didnt remove the old window first. after waiting 2 weeks, we had to call to find out what was going on. the scheduling girl asked if they could come to install it in another 2 weeks, which would have been a month later. we said no, so they scheduled it for the next day. it took the installers about 2 hours to remove the old window...very heavy wood...all one piece. when the new one was in, there was about an inch and half gap from the top of the window to the frame...i thought that was way too big of a gap. the installers (two different crews came) said that while that gap was a little more than what they liked to see, it was still ok. Window nation didnt offer me any money off for waiting or the window that a bit too small. the install crews that came were EXCELLENT.....the guys knew what they were doing...very nice, professional, skilled.

While we understand the benefits of cost-savings that come from a system like that which Window Nation has put in place to maximize sales (like requiring appointments be scheduled within 5 days, massive discounts for same day purchase, insisting both husband and wife/all homeowners be present, transitioning non-same-day customers to central sales), we prefer to deal with more personalized, customer-centered companies when it comes to our home projects. We were quite clear with our initial connection (an unsolicited door-to-door salesman) that we were not looking to purchase windows until next summer and were reassured that the quote would be good for a year (true, perhaps, but certainly mis-leading given the massive same-day only discount). I also communicated very clearly that we would definitely not be making any same day purchases since we always get several quotes for any of our home projects. I was clear that I was not available for an appointment for two weeks, but was required to go through a charade of rescheduling twice in order to procure an appointment that actually worked with my schedule on my initial desired date. On the day of our appointment, we were made to feel horrible for (1) "wasting" the time of the salesperson for a precious Saturday morning appointment if we weren't going to make a decision before he left our home, (2) that we had no option to buy windows from him the moment he left our house (forced to go to central sales), and (3) that his boss was going to be upset. We liked the windows and they clearly have capable sales people, but we don't appreciate the way they do business, so they won't get ours. If you do go with Window Nation, brace yourself for a HARD sell.
Response from Window Nation Pittsburgh

"[Member Name Removed] We want to thank you for taking the time to share your experience, as we are always trying to improve and grow. We take time to train all of our employees on the products and how to properly find out what the consumer needs without being a hard sale. We are disappointed to hear that you didn't experience our best. We do like to have both home owners present, because replacement windows can be a costly project that can quickly become overwhelming. We want to apologize for the poor experience and regret that we couldn't provide the best customer service and earn your business."

Everything went smoothly and I was very pleased from beginning to end of the process. John came for my free estimate and was very nice, knowledgeable, and understanding. After I signed all of the necessary documents for my window replacements, John was very helpful and told me to contact him directly with any questions I may have. Anytime I reached out to him with a question, he had an answer that helped me understand the process and what was happening. He had informed us that the entire process would take about 6-8 weeks, which was an accurate range. John came out on July 8th. After he measured the windows, a professional measure technician came out on July 27th to double check the measurements John had originally taken. John and I touched base to confirm the types of windows I wanted after the measure tech completed his job, in order to confirm my order would be correct the day of install. I received a call on August 24th to schedule my appointment for installation. The windows were installed on September 7th. The overall process took about 9 weeks, which was a week later than John had originally said but it was still an accurate estimate of time in my opinion. My only complaint would be that I did not receive a time frame of when to expect the installers. I called customer service the day before to ask about a timeframe and was told I would get a call the night before the install and they typically show up between 8 and 12. I never received a call before, but they showed up around 8:30. The installation only took until about 2:00. Russ and his crew were very professional and cleaned up any mess they made. They completed a walk through before AND after the installation took place in order to confirm everything was correct. Overall, Window Nation was great and I would definitely recommend them to anyone.

Vytex windows are beautiful. Removal and installation was horrible. Wrong windows ordered, hole in LR wall, scratches on hardwood floor, chips in granite counter top, broken marble windowsill. windows installed incorrectly, broken trim and the list goes on. No response from Window Nation customer service until a negative survey was completed. To get action had to threaten with a lawsuit before calls were returned. 3 vacation days used to accommodate various people to review damages. Finally the Vytex people came and are scheduled to remove and reinstall several of the windows and make necessary repairs to others. Found out 3 months later the installers were not actually Window Nation employees but sub-contractors and the sub-contractor is responsible for property damages. Window Nation is only responsible for the windows. It's been 3 month's since the original install and still waiting for resolutions.

From the sale to the service to the follow up, we were thoroughly impressed by the people we encountered with Window Nation. The sales rep spent nearly 3 hours with us, explaining all aspects of the products available and what would work for our budget. The installation was flawless and done in hours, not days. The installers were extremely courteous and respectful of our home. The follow up by customer service has been outstanding and even the company owner stopped by our home to be sure we were happy with the work done, truly remarkable!

Window Nation provided us with a wonderful buying experience. Paul Panty, our salesman, was attentive and personable. He made every effort to get us a good deal. The installers were on time, clean, and courteous. They left our home as they found it, only with much better windows. I would recommend them highly.
