They were very detailed in their workmanship, and did a good job explaining each aspect of the process.
It did take a little longer than they originally expected, but it was because the older Panko was sick. My only other criticism is that their truck leaked some oil in my driveway.
Overall, I would highly recommend them to others.
"Thank you [removed member's name]. We totally enjoyed working for you !"
Below are the details of my experience:
I contacted Panko from Angie's List and he was very responsive on the phone. Showed up very late for the first appointment and only after I called to find out where he was. We wanted to see about getting a garage with accessorie dwelling space built and told him we were ready to start on the project immediately. Tim Panko came out looking terrible, and did not seem very professional. That was fine, I realize that contractors are not "sales people".
Panko promised us a bid by the next week. Two weeks later, after I contacted him, he shot me back an email asking if I had found another contractor, or I still wanted the bid. I assured him we still very much wanted the bid and he promised by end of week.
Two weeks later he called and asked if we still wanted the bid. I said yes.
Another bit of time later and he sent me an email, asking me if I still wanted the bid. I said yes.
Then I received a long letter of him telling me how horrible his father was, how bad his life was and wah wah wah. I could not believe that I was getting such a letter from a contractor when all I wanted was a bid.
To this date, almost two months later, I have received nothing from Panko but sob stories.
I am a top selling real estate agent who has just moved here from Washington state. NEVER have I dealt with anyone like this. Not only have I assisted in helping my clients with contractors, but I also renovated 19 of my own homes and so am very familiar and comfortable working with contractors. This guy takes the cake....and it is an upside down cake for sure!
I highly recommend that you not waste your time with this person.
"First of all I showed up in work clothes after a hard day of work on another job so if that makes me look bad then I'll take it every day ! Second of all these people were very vauge on what they wanted to do they gave me a picture of another website with a picture of a project that if you pay for the design you get the prints to build from which they didn't do so it left all the legwork on us. Then they wanted the job completed in an un-realistic timeframe ( By Thanksgiving ) that gave us appx 3 weeks to complete the project which we had no material list for and they wanted some things done and others not done. Painting here, not painting there, a cheap grade staircase, unsure about the exterior finish, they wanted heat in the building of course but the building was a garage with an apartment upstairs so I made several attempts after leavinng with what notes we had on what they wanted which were very vauge because they kept jumping from one thing to another like well lets just say it was not a normal call for us. The attempts I made to make contact went un anwsered time and time again.. I needed to know important information so that we could nail down a firm bid and know what we were expected to do or not to do . I got no anwser on exterior finish. I received no anwser on if or if not the lower part of the building would get insulation and drywall since the apartment was upstairs and they wanted heat in the floor it made sense to do so but like I said NO ANWSER ! Customer was not cooperative in the process it took to bid the job so it was TROUBLE from the beginning customers like this by experience after the job is nearing completion create an array of problems like we told you we wanted this and that but in fact would not respond to ANY of my attempts to communicate via phone or email. How can I possibly bid a job where I talk to the customer 1 time and get a confusing amount of information because they wanted some things and were unsure about others , which is ok with me I am used to that but it is followed by communication so as to put anwsers to the questions at hand , Again { I RECEIVED NO COMMUNICATION ! } The only reason I called them and asked if they still wanted a bid is because I figured if they treated other contractors the same then they were not getting their job done right ? So I figured that maybe just maybe they had setteld down enough to give me the anwsers I needed now or they themselves got some of those anwsers by their dealings with the other contractors trying to bid the job. { THE WORST CUSTOMER WE HAD ALL YEAR ! as far as communication was concerned. I am sorry that she went to so much effort to bad mouth me but I figure it is because we were the best contractor she could have found to do their project and they mistreated their chance to deal with us because of the NO communication problem on their end. And then had problems with the next contractor they called no doubt because of the same problem so they are all mad at us. It was not my fault they elected NOT to call or email us with the information we had to have to go forward with their job. I think I said it 10 times the same thing I could have said in 1 simple sentence. This customer would not communicate with us in order for us to bid the job........! Sincerely, Tim Panko."
"Thank you for the Review we enjoy working for people who are as easy to work for as yourself ! :-)"
"I am unhappy with how a member can review us on criteria that we did not perform. To me this shows just how broken the review system can be because of the way Angie's list has this part set up !"
"We did not do ANY ceramic flooring or install a sink for this customer. In fact we installed Vinyl sheet flooring and a counter top in the kitchen area and Vinyl Sheet flooring in two bathrooms, Installed a new cabinet in one of them using the existing sink and existing top. Again a review on criteria we did not perform ! Recently we installed a new prefinished hardwood floor in the living room, so he has rehired us for additional work !"
"Thank you [removed member name]. We enjoy working for all of our good customers like yourselves.."
"Member I sincerly apoligize for the lack of communication on my part and deserve the rating that you posted. I have no office personel to handel my business should a problem arise which is the case with your job. I had an emergency with my mother and her health, she lives in texas, I went there to be with her and totally missed the appointment that I made with you and at that point I should have called you and told you the circumstances that had come up, it totally slipped my mind untill at least 2 weeks went by and I came across my notes in my office. At that point I should have called you and told you what had happened and I did not do so. ( MY BAD ! ) I apoligize. After that I became very busy and again did not follow up or put thought into letting a customer down until I read your report you left on A. L. I do feel badly and will strive to not let this happen in the future. Again please accept my sincere apoligie. Tim Panko.."
