Electrical Service
$4,135
A power surge damaged my breaker panel. The Brighton Electric electrician said I needed to replace the breaker box for $4,000 for materials and labor. I accepted because I was under the impression that this company was BBB certified.
Mr. Ross Felice, the business owner sent a copy of the bill to my insurance company, Travelers Insurance. This bill contained serious errors such as a 100 amp. breaker, rather than the correct one, 200 amp. (an error worth $1,000). Mr. Felice was extremely rude when approached by my insurance company and by me. It took a month of numerous phone calls and e-mails until Mr. Felice corrected the mistake and sent a detailed bill for a total of $4,135.
Two BBB certified electricians provided estimates for the job as listed by Brighton Electric. Klotz's Electric estimate comes to $2,571,25 and Accent Electric's estimate is $2,200. A difference of approximately $1,500 with Brighton's charges.
Some of the items on Brighton Electric are totally inflated. For instance the breaker panel can be purchased for $120-148 at local hardware stores instead of the $245 charged by Brighton Electric. This is why Klotz Electric estimates the total cost of materials as $751, 25, rather than the $2,405 plus $290.00 charged by Brighton Electric.
I have contacted Brighton's owner, repeatedly about this matter, requesting that he refunds the estimated $1,500 he overcharged me and he refused. I feel that his company took advantage of me because of my age of 81 plus my chemotherapy.
