Extremely poor customer service. I purchased a $4000 range from them and it has been nothing but problems. When I purchased it, they guaranteed they can always repair it, as it is an Italian made range. 6 months in, the oven turns off by itself randomly. They said it was dirty and they would charge to come out. So I cleaned it, even though it was barely dirty, still does it. They came out, charged $375. Still does it. I called them back and told them specifically that it is the thermocouple, which they did not replace during their last visit. They said they would charge again to come out and that the part is indefinitely back ordered. So now I have a $4000 range without a working oven. I am buying a new one, not from Gerhardts.

Gerhard's did an excellent job for us. It started with great choices and easy online ordering. A sales associate was available via live chat when we had questions. Plus, they emailed us a PDF of each appliance's spec sheet because space was a concern for us. Their delivery staff was top-notch and took care of our house while removing the old appliances. Hook-up and installation of the new appliances (gas range, washer, and dryer) were top-notch. We heartily recommend Gerhard's!

Bought washer/dryer with extended warranty. Washer is stinky, dryer not hot after short term. Took weeks to reach a service person. Confirmed issues were covered. Showed up late. In the meantime, had called Maytag, who was responsive, timely and helpful. Tried to contact gerhard to cx, could not reach anyone. Gerhard showed up, did nothing, sent a bill, cannot reach billing despite multiple calls. Neither service nor billing ever call back. Bill with late fee now. Have reviewed before, will keep reviewing with fingers crossed.

No home services were done.
Description of Work: No work was done but I purchased a portable room air conditioner and my so i law picked it up at the store. It arrived at their when they said... they also were able to handle disposal of old unit. However when I went to store to look at units there was no handicap parking which made entry inconvenient.

Description of Work: Purchased KitchenAid stove that was advertised as self clenaing (Aqua-lift) The technology is a total failure, as it does not clean. Neither Gerhards nor KitchenAid will take the stove back or refund purchase price. Even Tech reps stated that this was a self cleaning stove. Meanwhile, it is sitting in my livingroom collecting dust. Had to purchase a second stove to replace. We are extremely frustrated and would suggest that prospective appliance buyers shop at a store other than Gerhards Appliance in Glenside.

Bought a dishwasher last saturday and schedule a delivery the following Tuesday (between 3 to 7pm)....driver never show up. So I did reschedule another delivery for the following Thursday asking a smaller windo (4 to 6pm)...and AGAIN the driver after calling to tell me he was on his way DIDNT SHOW UP. Call the office talked to 10 people... absolutely incompetent, told they will call me back and they didnt. Left a message for Richard the owner... no call back. I did ask to get a free delivery after all the headache and their answer was to cancel my order. HORIFIC CUSTOMER SERVICE. Long story short: bought the same dishwasher cheaper from another appliance company with agreat service. NEVER AGAIN GERHARDS. They really dont care and should really get another delivery service guy. Wanted to share that with the world! THERE IS SOME OTHERS STORE APPLIANCES IN PA MUCH BETTER THAT GERHARDS

Worked with Lee Cram at the Ardmore store. Very professional, helpful, NO PRESSURE TO PURCHASE extended warranty or more expensive appliances. Prices as good or better than AJ Madison on-line. No problems with delivery, everything went smoothly, delivery personnel courteous and efficient. Would recommend to anyone!

It was fine. We were satisfied with the product, and they delivered it on time, and we also had a washer and dryer. Purchased that from them too, and at this point we're waiting for a call back. We might be purchasing a range from them. We have used them a couple of times. They're local and they seem to have what we want.

I wish I had read the other reviews before making a purchase from Gerhard's online. They are very obviously advertising items at prices they won't sell them for. They hope to get you to and quot;investand quot; in a good deal- which is what we all want - and then squeeze whatever they can out of you. We purchased the Samsung suite from them that included 4 appliances for $1963.50 + tax. I thought it was a good deal but they won't honor it. When we spoke with them they said we needed to speak with someone in sales about the price, which was odd because we had already purchased the items and paid for them. Later they sent us an invoice for $3348 for product we believed we had purchased already. Not only that, but Best Buy is offering a much better package (see next paragraph) for $2599 (and $200 in best buy money dropping price to $2399). After receiving the new invoice I called Gerhard's and I was told and quot;well, if it's too good to be true...and quot; and I said and quot;but it's not - Best buy is offering the same stove, microwave, and a better dishwasher, and a fridge that is worth $1300 more for $2599 (Gerhard's is offering a side by side Samsung fridge whereas Best Buy is offering a french door fridge). If I select the same fridge Best Buy offers in their package from Gerhard's the price is $3313.50 even with the free stove (a price I doubt they would honor given they are refusing to honor the previous deal we purchased). Taken together, you can see that they are trying to take advantage of potential consumers any way they can.During the same phone call, when I told the woman on the phone that the and quot;dealand quot; was still available online (7 hours later), she said they were still having technical difficulties. I told her that she should have their website pulled off-line so as not to dupe other potential clients and she told me that was too technical. My significant other is in the IT field and said that it takes 2 minutes to pull down a website until a problem is fixed. We will be reporting them and I strongly urge anyone who reads this to stay away!
Description of Work: I made a purchase from Gerhard's online and they refused to honor the contract we made. Please read details below. Seriously - buyer beware - they are so untrustworthy and manipulative. They are the true definition of bate and switch. If you buy from them you will pay 25% more than you would from Best Buy or Sears or Home Depot or Lowes, etc.

My refrigerator conked out and I needed a new one pronto. Fortunately it was 4th of July weekend so there were many sales. Once I decided what I wanted it was easy to shop around for the best deal. I had never shopped at Gerhard's before and would have overlooked them except I was finding it difficult to get a quick delivery of the refrigerator model I wanted. I keyed in my choices online and their shopping cart deducted an additional $50 from the price of the refrigerator making them even more competitive than Best Buy. I called the store to find when I could take delivery and Harold told me Wednesday which was earlier than Home Depot and Best Buy. When I got to the store the numbers were higher. I showed Harold printouts from their shopping cart and entered the numbers in a new shopping cart transaction on my iPad to show how the shopping cart automatically deducted the additional discount. I want to point out that Harold seemed very new and he was struggling with the store's information systems. When I got home I came across many negative reviews of Gerhard's service and started to second-guess my decision to buy from them. The negative reviews suggested that they had problems with delivery and service. They promised to call the night before to tell me the delivery window. I did not receive any phone contact that night and grew concerned. I called the Installation Department the next morning and discovered that they were unable to reach me because they had transposed two digits of my phone number. I was told the items were on two different trucks. The refrigerator, which only needed to be plugged in was delivered separately from the microwave and dishwasher which were with the contractor. About 20 minutes after my phone call, the contractor called to confirm his window and give instructions to empty the cabinet under the sink ahead of time to access the plumbing. The refrigerator delivery arrived first. The two delivery men were friendly, professional and courteous. They removed the old unit, and removed the door of the new unit so it could fit through my entrance. They brought it in, removed packaging, hooked it up and reattached the door. The contractor called two more times to keep me advised of his progress. Although running behind, his arrival was still within his window. He, too, was courteous and professional. It took approximately 90 minutes to deliver and install the two items. He also removed the packaging and cleaned up after himself. I was very pleased with the installation service I received and the pricing offered. I would shop there again and recommend them, but now I've also learned to go online first and arm myself with printouts from the shopping cart and scrutinize numbers carefully.
Description of Work: I purchased a refrigerator, dishwasher and over the range microwave at Gerhard's NE Philadelphia location. I paid an additional $275 to their contractor to install the dishwasher and microwave.

They showed us a Thermadoor stainless steel and we chose to go with them. The price they gave was good and I was looking for a 36 inch replacement for that and it turns out the new model was a little bigger and it did not fit because of the dimensions. I did have to find a carpenter to build a new wall. They are a good place to go you just need to double check the dimensions. The installer did a very good job.

We went to the Frazer, PA store (or Malvern) to purchase appliances for our kitchen remodel project. We met with the sales rep named Beverly who helped us choose a 36and quot; kitchenaid pro cook top, Electrolux Double Ovens, and we needed a good hood. Beverly specifically recommended a Best Hood. The prices were very competitive, they beat AJ Madison for a few bucks on each appliance. We arranged payment, and a delivery date. When the appliances arrived, the hood was missing. I quickly found out that the hood had been discontinued by the manufacturer. What amazed me was that neither the sales rep, the warehouse, or the business office were aware that the product was discontinued, all of whom I had contact with the day before delivery. The sales rep made ALL kinds of excuses as to why she didn't know about this hiccup. So, we tried to find an alternative product. The only product that was offered that was comparable was several hundred dollars more, and I thought that since the store had taken my money, and didn't inform me of the discontinued product that they should offer me the same price I was charged. So, they offered me a floor model with a and quot;small dentand quot;. I wasn't interested. Then one of the owners told the sales rep to tell me that would cover the dent with a kitchen aid plague! I was incredulous. Finally, the owner, Jerry, found the hood they sold me on display at one of their other stores and they promised to deliver the hood the next day. At 3pm I called. It was obvious they have and quot;forgottenand quot; about this. He promised I would have it be 5pm. When it didn't arrive, I spoke again with the owner who told me of mistake after mistake. Long story, he said it would be the next day around noon before he could get it to me. Then, another change of plan, and the hood arrived around 8pm. When it arrived, the delivery person tracked dirt into our home, delivered a product that was missing parts, and in total frustration we told them to take the hood back. Gerhards is a train wreck of a company. Their service is horrible, they don't know their products, and in my opinion, they're disingenuous.

I purchased a refridgerator on Saturday for a Monday delivery. I specifically said I will only purchase the unit if it can be delivered on Monday. They called me on Sunday to confirm a window of time for the delivery on Monday. In the window of time of the delivery, the delivery person called me and asked and quot;what I was expecting them to do today?and quot; He informed me they did not have a refridgerator for me on the truck. I called the company to ask what happend and recieved a major run-around on the phone. After several hours and several phone calls, I was given an answer and my first appoligy. They told me that they scheduled a delivery to me, but they did not schedule the item. They told me it would take two more days to get the refrigerator deliverd. They told me I could have had it in one day if I would have let them know earlier. {Please get this fact that they had already charged me for the item and the delivery. They would be sitting around fat dumb and happy thinking they did a great job, if I had not called them. They have a major flaw in their system and they know it and don't do a thing about it except ignore it.} There was no direct answers to my questions, no creative thinking on what to do, no options were given to me other then wait. They gave me such a run-around on the phone, I lost count of the people I spoke with. Some of the staff would simply transfer me to someone else and not even say a word. I left two voice mails to Rich the owner and have never heard from him. In thier defence they did refund my delivery charge (after I called them again) but they did nothing else. This was a lot of aggrevation that I did not need. I would recomend them to my enimies, but to anybody else. Do yourself a favor and pay a couple more dollars some were else.
