I can't be more impressed with his professionalism, ability and skill. Barney is knowledgable and helped us with color choices since we are wall color intolerant and always go towards browns. The wall to ceiling lines are clean and he was very courteous with our personal items. No paint on the floors or where it wasn't suppose to be. We are chipping away at the house room by room and Barney has quoted the entire home for labor for walls, ceilings, and trim. We will definitely use him for our other 7 plus rooms in the future. He's a good honest guy, very likeable, and down to earth. My partner is very cautious in all respects however he was very much at ease with Barney Quigley.

This man does NOT know how to paint, he lies about being licensed in PA, DE and MD. He does not come when he is suposed to, will give you many reasons why he can't come to work or is late. He is good at being a BS'er. Spends more time on the phone than working.
Response from Blue Ox Painting
"Blue Ox Painting (Barney Quigley) is licensed in the state of Pennsylvania and fully insured by The State Farm Companies. I have been in business for over 14 years and have never had a dissatisfied client, nor have I ever had a customer refuse to pay for services rendered. I have never performed work for anyone named . However, I did, provide painting services for two gentlemen from late November 2013 through the end of December of 2013 who ultimately were not happy with the finished product. I received a 50% deposit, most of which covered the cost of the paint and materials used on the job. This 3,400 square foot house was in need of much TLC. The previous owners to quote my customer, "trashed the place". Walls and trim were worn, murals with raised edges, and faux ,finishes, settling cracks, etc. required a great deal of drywall repair, sanding, caulking and preparation prior to painting. During the project, as the customer would point out anything they were unhappy with, I would repair and repaint that area, thus honoring my part of our agreement. On my final day scheduled for punch list activities I was informed by the customer that they would not pay the remaining balance for the work performed, because in their words "the whole house needs repainted". Let me be clear that I did nothing but beautify this home. In the weeks following, they filed a claim against my contractor's insurance policy (the first claim ever filed on my policy) for claims for damages to their furniture and personal belongings, a slip and fall claim, and claim for poor workmanship. When that claim was denied, they sued me in small claims court for an amount far exceeding the contract price (also the one and only time this has occured during my time in business). The Judge threw out their claim for damages but did not award me the balance due on the project (in effect, "splitting the difference" of the total contract amount). In essence, this customer was able to have his entire 3,400 square foot house painted (excluding his laundry room but including all walls, ceiling, trim, sills, closet interiors, etc. for $1,000 labor plus the cost of the paint. I am an honest person providing high quality painting services for a reasonable price. I use high quality Benjamin Moore paints and supplies. I rely on word of mouth for my business. I do not advertise (other than a free listing on this site and having my own website presence) and my schedule is full year round. I will gladly provide to anyone interested in my services a list of hundreds of satisfied customers that will attest to the quality of my work and to my character as well."

He was fantastic. He actually underestimated the amount of work that they had to do on the house and was willing to stick to the original quote. He was great.

So far so good. Mr. Quigley is coming out again tomorrow to perform more services for me now that the insurance settlement is done.
He is sticking to his fair estimate even though I had to change course many times.

He was very professional. He was very busy, and since he does all the work by himself, on his own, he is difficult to get in touch with. He always returns calls, it just may take a day or so. I felt that it was worth it for the quality of the job in relation to the price.
