I'm very flexible with scheduling because I was never home during the 2 day install. I just left a key under the door mat. The job was done very professionally and went down with out any complications. 6 months later there was a snag with the wiring from the previous electrician. They came out and fixed it NO Charge, because they did not detect it at the time of the installation.

Pros: The owner Joe is very responsive by phone during the sales process and beyond if you reach out to him on his cell phone, which he answers 7 days/week. The service technicians I dealt with (3 of them) were all professional, took pride in their job, and were pleasant to interact with. The pricing is very fair based on estimates I received from other firms. And the owner does not pressure you to buy more than you need. Areas that could be better: Office hours and service appear to be M-F only, 9-5, no matter how small the job. Service windows were 4h in all cases I can remember. There was some minor clean up I had to do in terms of wires and other discarded materials around the outside and inside units, as well as displaced insulation where the line set enters the house. Not a big deal, but it's something I'd prefer not to happen.

They came out to check my heat pump. My heat pump is two years old and has a ten year warranty. They tried to sell me on a new system claiming the manufacturer would not honor the warranty. I ultimately had two other contractors check the system and determined that this company might have played with the refrigerant pressures causing the compressor to not work properly. I would never use this contractor again. It turned out that the ductwork was improperly sized and the system was running inefficient. I had it replaced and it is perfect now.

He is really good, reasonable, personal, very efficient. Just a good company to work with

Joe the owner wouldn't even try to work with us on an AM appointment. I'm glad I didn't give him any money up front.

They came four times, I had to pay $110 each time. They did something each time they came out but didn't fix the problem. Finally on the 4th time, they were able to fix the problem but I couldn't get any refund.

The work was, in general, first rate once the actual problem with my old heat pump was properly diagnosed. I can't fault them for not finding the refrigerant leak immediately--a pair of copper tubes rubbed together, eventually wearing a hole in one of them due to a factory error in installing the tubing--and Joe was very fair about the pricing. As the system was getting old and was undersized for the area it serviced, it was more effective to replace both the indoor and outdoor units which Michalski did as efficiently and cost effectively as possible. The new system has provided a much better level of comfort than the old one ever did. I would not hesitate to recommend J. R. Michalski Heating and AC to anyone. They are very responsive, fair, keep a neat job site and do very high quality work.

After checking everything out, JR Michalski said my heater was fine and only charged me for half a service call.

They were good, professional, and knew their work. However, I didn't get their name through Angie's List and heard about them through a neighbor. I ended up noticing after the fact that there was a $500 discount that they never mentioned which I could have taken advantage of. It was two separate jobs, so I was kind of disappointed because I could have gotten a $1,000 rebate.

I used them a few times for annual tune-ups and they were great. But when I needed a new A/C, they told me they'd call me with more information but never did. I called a week later and spoke to the owner, who gave me an estimate over the phone. In asked him to email it to me, which he never did. I played phone tag with him for about 2 weeks, and when I finally got him back on the phone to ask (once again) for a written estimate, he asked me to tell him what he'd quoted me on the phone 2 weeks prior. He finally sent the estimate, but did not respond when I emailed him for clarification on a few points in it. The last straw was when. I had an issue one night with our existing A/C and called him to have someone come out and look at it. The first thing he said was "Oh, uh, hi. Did you get the email I sent with your answers in it?" But he'd never replied. Nothing in my inbox or junk folder. And he wouldn't send someone out that night to look at my A/C, so at that point I was done trying.

They kept our old AC running for a few years past when it should have died. JR Miichalski himself did the estimate for a new one, he gave us 3 options and went over them in detail and gave good advice. When installing our AC the estimate included an electrostatic filter that JR did not mean to put on, but he honored the contract as written.The servicemen have been nice. They get the job done right.

My last experience with J R Michalski Heating & Air Company was uneventful. There was nothing really that I liked or disliked about their service. I could use them in the future. Their recent visit was just routine maintenance, which came to about $80.

The process from quote to service was painless and professional. The quote and inspection was thorough and in no way involved any high pressure sales or browbeating. All questions and concerns were answered courteously and in a straightforward manner. On the day of the job, workers arrived a little early for service so they were definitely punctual. They were clean and professional. They listened and answered any questions I had as the work proceeded. Mr. Michalski called to make sure everything that was discussed in the quote was being done. The overall process took the better part of the 8 hour day and when they left, pretty much everything was cleaned up and the new unit was working perfectly. Where this company stood out was their personalized service. My old system had a drum type humidifier which had leaked all over the return duct. I asked Mr. Michalski if he could quote a price on replacing the old fiber board return with metal. He didn't feel comfortable quoting a price because he said things could change once the old unit was removed. However, he said there was some wiggle room in the original job quote to make a decision once work proceeded. Well, when everything was said and done, a new metal return duct was in place at the originally quoted price. Another example was connecting a feed duct to the main that was never connected when the house was built. There was no problem to connect it and now I have heat in the upstairs bathroom for the first time since buying the home. I would definitely recommend this company.
