Description of Work: They replaced the roof on our shed, replaced an entry door on the side of our garage and painted some trim work. Went well once projects were started. There was a delay due to winter weather then due to schedules.

Even during the presentation and negotiation phase we were put at ease by the obvious competence and attention to detail of Rudy Arnold and Bob Standarowski. From beginning to end they were always upfront about costs and open to discussion. The designer, Brent Carlson, also was easy to work with and very accommodating during multiple changes, he made excellent suggestions along the way and we were very happy with the design. R.D. Arnold never cut corners with materials or labor. We work at home so we were able to see the incredible care and detail that went into every phase of the project. Materials used exceeded standard requirements—the addition is far better built than the rest of our house. Rudy, the owner, was onsite nearly every day and there was never an occasion that he could not be reached by phone. There was always excellent follow-through with any questions or concerns. Each phase and daily activities were always made clear by either Rudy or the foreman, we always knew what was going on ahead of time. The high standard of quality never wavered, beginning to end. There is always something that you would do differently. We would do more research on home interior suppliers and choose one other than American Home Interiors of Elkton. The first rep we engaged was laughably incompetent and our next rep needed a phone call or an email to make sure she was actually doing her job. Heather is very personable and competent when she does get the job done but she very distracted in my view. Plus, we spent a fortune on KraftMaid cabinets. They were less than the best and only a few got replaced. This was KraftMaid’s fault but AHI could have pushed more. I was not entirely happy. American Home Interiors has some management issues (hiring, training and job division) in my opinion. I’d call them mediocre. I have to rave on about R.D. Arnold. We were always very comfortable with all their sub-contractors having the run of our home. We never had a twinge of difficulty opening the house to them, whether we were here or not. We were especially impressed with Mike Davisson, the foreman/carpenter. We often mentioned to each other that we were glad he had an eye on all the details of the project—he took his job very seriously and knows what he is doing. We often admire the roll-out shelf for accessing supplies under the laundry system (that wasn’t in the plans) that he built for Dad. He is like his boss, he often goes over and above what is needed. Rudy has a gem in that one. We also have to mention the speed, efficiency and quality of the work of the guys who hung the drywall. It amazed us to see those men take great pride in doing such undesirable work. Rudy needs to hold on to that crew! To sum it all up, I think it is fair to say that Rudy built this addition as if his own father were going to live in it. Rudy doesn’t just get the job done; he makes sure the customer is happy. We could not recommend him and his outfit more highly.
Description of Work: R. D. Arnold built a 470 sq. ft. addition onto the back of our house to accommodate my 87-year old father who will be living there. In it is a living area, a bedroom, a kitchen area with sink, counter, cabinets and refrigerator (no range), bathroom with large shower, laundry system, outside entrance and entrance through the house. There is also a small porch on the front.
