When we returned from vacation in early August and discovered that our air conditioner was on its last leg, we knew we had to make a major decision fairly quickly. As the temperature in the house grew warmer each day, we asked friends and coworkers for recommendations and signed up for Angie's List. One of my husband's coworkers said that he was very pleased with the dual fuel system that Neffsville Plumbing and Heating installed for him, so we contacted them to give us an estimate, and they set up an appointment the very next day. We also set up appointments for estimates with two other companies that received a grade of A from Angie's List members. Rick Groff, the president of Neffsville Plumbing and Heating, actually came to do their estimate for us. He was very professional and polite. He came prepared with information that we could look at, and he answered all of our questions - and I had a lot of questions, but he seemed happy to answer them all. He explained both options - replacing our central air conditioning unit or switching to the dual fuel system with a heat pump and new, more efficient oil furnace. He never tried to pressure us into buying a particular system or even to buy from them. Rick also carefully checked and measured the house to perform a load calculation so that he would know the exact size of the system we would need. He carefully listened to us when we said that our upstairs was always warmer than the downstairs, and that we often had to run a fan at night. He said he would check to see if our system needed to be balanced. Rick recognized that our old system was rapidly giving out, and he said he would email the estimate right away. By the next day he had emailed a thorough, two-page estimate with the different choices for the size of our house and prices for each one. He said we could contact him if we had any more questions. The next night a man came from one of the other companies with a top grade, but he was just a salesman. He did a quick look around the house, but instead of measuring and trying to figure out what system would be best for us, he was asking us questions about how much we were able to spend and what kind of monthly payments we could afford. When I asked him several times if he could email an estimate in the next day or two, he said that he really couldn't because he would need to come back after the weekend and talk to us again so we understood the options. Basically, it just felt like he wanted to come back for the high pressure sale, and he did not seem as knowledgeable about the products and installation. The third night we had another man from another top rated company come out to give us an estimate. He seemed more knowledgeable, but he didn't act like our business was high priority. We never received his estimate until five days later when the temperature in our house was in the eighties, and we had already decided we would hire Neffsville Plumbing and Heating. Rick met with us right away after work to set everything up, and they also offered one year interest free financing. The service manager came out the next morning to make sure they would be prepared for the job. Two days after signing the contract, our new heat pump and oil furnace were being installed. The workmen were very punctual and polite. They were careful to cover the floors leading to the basement, and they did not leave the first day until we had air conditioning again. They even balanced the system so our upstairs temperature is as cool as the downstairs. After the two day installation, the service manager came back again to check everything and to answer any questions. We have had follow up calls to make sure we were pleased with the products and their service. We are very happy that we chose Neffsville Plumbing and Heating, and we would recommend them to others.

It got hot quickly going into Memorial day weekend, and we realized our A./C was not working. We called Neffsville Plumbing & Heating. With very little notice, they had a tech onsite the next day, we had not use Neffsville prior to this call, so that was impressive. Tech was knowledgeable and quickly identified, and explained a few things to me. He said cleaning the coil and adding some Freon will help, and we should just monitor the system. It is 10yrs old, it may need replaced, but wait and see. The system has functioned all Summer, so Neffsville got us working quickly and no presuure to replace the system that would've added weeks of no A/C to a hot summer. Tech explained their Free Inspection program, not really a service plan, but a guarunteeed visit durng the year, to inspect and pro-actively corect any issues (billable). I signed up for it and will have them inspect the unit at the end of summer. I liked the work Neffsville did, their quick response and good friendly service.

I would not hesitate to call this company again for plumbing needs.   They did expert work. I thought it was maybe a bit expensive but, then again, I am not really atuned to prices of home repairs these days!!

The guy they sent out was a little young and the service was overpriced for what I got.  I found that I liked dealing with another local company better.  When technicians come, I like to talk to them.  The guy they sent didn’t have much experience. If I had gotten a different technician I might have felt differently. We won’t use them again.  I feel conflicted about that because they are a local business and they do a lot of community projects.  I respect them tremendously for that but I didn’t like the service I got.

We had a bad experience with Neffsville Plumbing & Heating Services.  He gave us a list of items that needed done that would cost $900 to replace but not all things on the list were accurate.  He did say that it needed freon and got that taken care of for us.
Response from Neffsville Plumbing & Heating Services

"On 4/11/12 our tecnician performed a clean and service of your gas furnace for $165.00.The tecnician noted potential problems with your furnace and a refrigerant leak with your A/C system.Furnace suggested repairs were $372.00 and the quoted cost to repair your refrigerant leak was $687.00.You chose not to have the repairs done.We made a happy call to check your level of satisfaction(as we always do).The call date was May 4 @ 1:07.It was stated that the service was ok according to our records.I am sorry you were unsatisfied with all aspects of our service that you were compelled to give us an F rating in all categories. Our company strives to always give superior service and proactive suggestions to our valued customers.I am sad you do not agree. Rick Groff-pres."

The only complain I have is they were pricey, but I think I get what I pay for, and they were competitive price wise. I could have got it done for a lot cheaper.

They were fine. They came when they said they would and did what we asked and it is working. I think they were a little more expensive than some others. I may use them again in the future.

They do more of mechanical service than appliance repair. I would definitely recommend them as they are very good. They are pretty good company. I use them a lot. I have used them in the past year for cleaning and maintaining our furnace and central air conditioning system. I have an annual contract with them. They are family owned. The owner is a fantastic guy. The other signs of business are that they still treat their customers like a small business hood and everybody they sent out is really very good. They do just excellent service. They are very nice and very professional.

It was time for a service on my heating/AC and I called three places for estimates. Neffsville was the lowest one, and as I had them for heating system at another house,  I made an appointment. Turns out the estimate  was only going to cover A/C - not the furnace, and so charges  ended up being about double the estimate. I had definitely asked for the joint service and paid the extra charge only because it would have cost another $60 to have them back later to do the heat! Someone else had told me they were more expensive, and it turns out they were right.  The other estimates for both services would have saved me at least $75.

Happened on a Sunday afternoon, they dispatched a repair person very quickly.  The repair person was very nice and completed the work quickly.  The price, however, was outrageous.  I did not get any estimates or call anyone else as we had some back-up sewerage in the house and just wanted it done ASAP.  I will never have Neffsville do anymore work for me.

They charge a flat fee by the hour that includes whatever work that is being done. I felt whatever they charged me was very unfair. They had responded quickly and did a fine job, but were extremely expensive. I haven't gone back to them.

The service man who stopped in was friendly enough and arrived promptly. I was pleased that someone was able to come over so quickly. They estimate to put in the dishwasher, which I already had on hand, was $407 ($150 more than I paid for the whole unit!). The estimate for the sink disposal installation was $392. (Again, I had the disposal on hand, was not purchasing from them.) The price for the two items to be installed was $799! I thought this price was high, and decided to give it a whirl myself. I took the pipe I needed to the plumbing wholesale store on Fruitville pike and they showed me how to do everything and sold me the proper parts for the work. The cost of all the parts was under $60 and I did the dishwasher water hookup myself in about an hour. (I have no prior plumbing experience whatsoever.) It seems obvious they were not interested in doing a small plumbing job. Prior to doing the work myself I did get a second estimate that was at $75 an hour and came in at $300. So, I'm led to assume that Neffsville was charging $150-$175 an hour for their work.

Our 1930's house was not connected to the city water supply when we bought it. Because we have a young child, we did not want to rely on well water. Neffsville installed the new pipe and connected us to the city water supply as well as cleaning up some of the weird plumbing issues in the basement. They did a great job and, since they had a backhoe there when they did the work, were nice enough to pull out the overgrown bushes in front of the house.

When the serviceman came in he completed the work in less than 45 minutes. He replaced hot-cold water mixing cartridge and the handle for the faucet. Total retail cost for the part is about $40. He charged close to $390 for that work, parts and labor. When I wrote a letter to the owner to reconsider the cost, since in my estimate at even $80/hour, it should be no more than $120. The owner called and gave me $47.50 rebate! I will have to be crazy to ever call them again. Never use this company. According to my spouse, the repairman was not friendly at all.
