I have used them about 15 years ago for windows too and now they put in new windows for me. The new windows are much better looking. Their work is also terrific. They did it in one day with 10-12 windows put in. It was already dark and they have spotlights so they can still work. I am very happy with the windows.

This was very good. They came out on time and did a good job and cleaned up well. There was one mistake about the windows that came out and they were able to remedy the situation quickly.

The quote they gave and their professionalism were ridiculous so we would not even touch them with a 10-foot pole. They were trying to talk us into purchasing windows that were not in our budget and then trying to talk us into redoing our siding, which we know it needs to be done, but after their presentation, we were like, "No." Their quote was way out of our budget. We met them at first when they had vendors come out with a ladder and we thought, "Okay, they came out to the house to look at what we had and what we need." But when they presented, that was when we were like, "Uh-uh."

The salesman came out to give an estimate but would not provide the sales presentation or estimate until he met with both me and my wife at the same time. Although I said that this would not be possible as my wife works days and I work nights (plus we have a young child), but without available. This is a rude and extremely outdated sales technique

They are expensive. I am happy with the windows and the workmen. I do not like the screens that they use on the windows. The windows are oval and they informed us that if they get damaged or broken they would replace them for free. We were trying to fix the screen and it fell out of the window and it got bent. When we called them they then informed us that they discontinued that a few months ago. The fact that we bought it under that condition we thought that they would come forward but they just told us that they were sorry and that they don’t do that anymore. We have that screen sitting in our basement and try and fix it ourselves. I don’t like their screens because they are too easy to fall out of the window and get damaged. They came when they said they would come.  If they improve the quality of their screen then maybe we would use them again.

My experience was unique to say the least. Their quote started at $16,700 and by the time he left, he came down to $10,000.  The young man was very nice and pleasant but I told him that I was not interested in dealing with a company that would drop the price like that. Their customer service department called 2 days later and I told them that I felt that I was buying a used car. He said that they didn't like to do business like that, but nothing ever came of it. They were very responsive and came within a day or two. It made me wonder what the windows were really worth.

Spent several hours in a high-pressure sales pitch with this company. Met them during the Philadelphia Home Show. When signing up for the in-home consultation, representative was very negative to other companies, trash talking them, saying their windows are junk, etc. Was handed the personal cell phone of the representative suddenly during sign up (where we had to fill out our information three times on three separate forms) to talk to someone else for scheduling. Felt weird and unprofessional.
Upon consultation day, salesman was long-winded, pushy, and sexist towards my wife. We walked around and measured all the windows, talked about their product, talked about how supposedly horrible vinyl is, etc. Their product honestly looked very nice. But the price and pitch were horrible. Upon the close of our multi-hour expedition, we were presented with a $40,000+ cost for 22 windows ($1,800+ per window, people!). But magically we could take off 25% if we signed RIGHT NOW! If we waited three days, it was 20% off, seven days, it was 10% off, etc. Complete garbage pressure and pricing. The excuse given was that they would have to return and waste time/gas to talk to us again if we waited to think about it for a few days. First off, why would they need to come back in-person, and second, how does that equate to tens of thousands of dollars in difference of a few days. Your expenses do not add up to that, sorry. Other reputable companies will let you wait 30-90 days on a quote, ask them questions, etc. with no garbage price increases and "give us money now for a discount" schemes. Additionally, the salesman lied about other manufacturers windows and how they only have 70% argon, lose 90% of their gas in a few years, etc. Don't be fooled. There are standards that manufacturers adhere to, which makes that pitch complete nonsense. The ASTM and European Union have standards that state gas leakage cannot be more than 1% per year.
I suggest everyone to stay away from Renewal by Andersen and either do it yourself, or go with a reputable contractor here on Angie's List.

I thought Renewal By Anderson was great. They provide all the services, from giving an estimate to installing. They drop in the window. They don't have to cut up new openings or close up old openings. It's rather expensive, but I had a bay window replaced, which was the most expensive one. They were good. Their stuff is custom made. They're not buying them off the shelves.

The representative from Andersen took the time and was very thorough in explaining the product. However, at the end of the consult, the representative was very pushy about us purchasing at least 'something' that very day. I was not happy, because the consult took 2.5 hours, and I did not appreciate being harassed to commit the very same day.
Response from Renewal by Andersen of Philadelphia

"Dear Customer, I have read your review and I thought we owed you an apology. At Renewal by Andersen we strive to deliver service that exceeds the sometimes lacking level of customer interaction typical of home improvement. You said you felt Mark McGovern was pushy, and wanted a decision from you on the night of your appointment. As you know, we offer an incentive to homeowners who make a purchase on the day we visit. We do this because fewer visits reduce operational costs, and we pass those savings onto the customer. You need time to weigh the pros and cons before making such a substantial purchase. I’m sure Mark can work with you to find a way for you to get the best windows (and installation) at a price that makes sense to you… Sorry for the strength of the last statement, but every person in our company is passionate about our windows. We truly believe we offer the best window and installation combination available today. If you have a moment, please go to Google and see what some of our past customers have to say: http://****/udsua Words cannot express how truly sorry we are for the frustration and inconvenience we caused you. Your review hit home because Renewal by Andersen strives to provide a “wow” experience every step of the way, and in your case we failed. But I’m glad you posted this review, because we can learn from what you have said. I do hope you’ll give us another chance to earn your business. I suspect Mark McGovern may have already re-contacted you, but I wanted to be sure you know we heard your comments in the home office. Sincerely, Suzanne January Customer Service Manager"

The installers arrived on time and were courteous, obviously experienced, and proficient in their craft.  I was especially impressed with George Paskiewicz, the ?team leader.? He worked on the outside of each window with precision even though it was raining during most of the installation. The gentleman who did most of the work on the portion of the bay window that is inside the house was extremely skilled in carpentry making sure that the end result was beautiful. All in all, I couldn?t be more pleased with the quality and appearance of the windows, both inside and outside, or with their installation. This is a very professional company, and I would highly recommend them to anyone.
My only complaint is with the salesman who initially came to my house. After giving me a price, he refused to accept the coupon that I had from Angie?s List. This almost cost him the contract. If I had not been so impressed with the quality of the windows, I would not have used this company.  Renewal by Anderson should not place a coupon on Angie?s List if they are not going to honor it.  The salesman claimed that I was already getting a discount and therefore could not use the coupon. The coupon said nothing about not being usable if a discount was already being applied. Besides, purchasers of items like this are always told they are getting a discount. Bear in mind that windows from Renewal by Anderson are very high-priced compared to just about any other window company.

I want to be super detailed so everyone reading knows what to expect. It is clear from previous reviews that the weakest part of the process is the sales presentation.  That is entirely accurate.  Andersen will insist on all decision makers to be present and they will also grossly underestimate the time it takes to do that presentation.
We were solicited from a neighborhood canvass.  We were quickly scheduled for 2 days later in the evening.  We were told it would be 60-90 minutes; after 2.5 hours, our salesperson was still there.  With a 3 year old, that can be pretty tough.  Our salesman was very nice and very knowledgable overall.  He had demonstrations and all sorts of information with him.  Some things to know:  One, pay careful attention to the flip charts.  At least twice, we caught situations where there was not an "apples to apples" comparison.  For example:  Comparing a high end, super premium window (in terms of cost) to the Andersen product when the Andersen product is not "super premium".  That's like comparing a Lexus to a Ford and noting a price difference.  There IS a price difference; however, the products are not the same.
Our salesperson mentioned other brands, and some of that information is debatable.  Do some internet research.
Some other things to note: Our salesperson brought in a demonstration window for us to view.  This was very helpful.  However, one thing he had us do was raise and lower the window to demonstrate how easy they raise and lower.  This is an inaccurate demonstration because the demo window is not installed in a wall!  Any free window will raise or lower easily!  Now that these windows are installed, they do raise somewhat easily, but nowhere near as easily as the free standing window.  Certainly not "with one finger" as was mentioned to us.
We received an initial quotation of over $40,000 for all of the windows in our home.  The final price was just above $30K, which was nowhere in our budget.  I will say that our salesperson did not push for a "complete" replacement, instead suggesting that we do a "partial" replacement to start.  We were not given much time to talk between us (husband and wife type of talk) but eventually were able to agree to get 7 windows done for over $8,000.  The financing we were offered was not terribly competitive so we took the 1 year no interest financing and are working to pay that off before the year is over.
Our measurement took place just a few days later and we were installed in a matter of weeks after that.  Where Andersen fails in the sales pitch, they make up for in installation.  Yes, it was annoying to take down window treatments and move some furniture.  I agree.  However, the people that showed up to my home were PROFESSIONAL.  They spoke clear English.  They cleaned up after themselves.  They were PLEASANT to be around and I never felt uncomfortable.  The job was done in half of a day.  I have had many contractors come to our home to do various things and this was the best experience by far.
Once we were able to secure additional financing (through a home improvement loan from the state), we contacted Andersen again to get more windows done.  My suggestion is this:  Do a partial installation first, then contact for more windows.  You will find the pricing is...different.  Case in point: We had 7 windows replaced at a cost of about $8500.  We then contracted for 12 more windows at a cost of $17,000.  We have just 2 windows remaining - are you paying attention to the math here?  Our original quote was just over $30,000, but we've gotten all but 2 windows replaced for under $26,000.  The 2 remaining windows are small and standard, and should cost us another $3,000 or so...lower than the quote we received on Night #1 for the whole house.
Having lived with these windows for a while now, I can say they are lovely.  They are sturdy.  They do not leak and they open and lock easily.  The installation experience was superior to any other contractor I've dealt with.  The sales pitch and pricing was definitely not.  We are not sorry we used them.  If you go into the experience knowing that the sales pitch will be nearly unbearable, you will be happy with the finished product because it's quite nice.

Response from Renewal by Andersen of Philadelphia

"Dear Customer, I read your comments, and would like to apologize for offending you. We certainly want the opportunity to earn your business and hope in the future you will consider us. After ready your review, I wanted to assure you that Renewal by Andersen is NOT a sexist company. We do believe in equal rights and do NOT discriminate against women nor do we require that a woman’s husband be present when we visit. Since we recognize that windows are a major purchase you will be living with for decades, we generally ask all homeowners, regardless of gender, to be present when we visit. Over the years, we’ve found this takes up less time for all involved. By speaking to everyone together, our foreman can answer all of your detailed questions up front without multiple return trips. This practice virtually guarantees there will be no misunderstandings that could cause either of you to be unhappy in the long run. You might ask why we can’t make a 2nd trip to visit with another homeowner at a later date, and the answer is we will do so happily if necessary. However, please be sensitive to the fact that we are based in King of Prussia. While sending an experienced foreman to your home in Thornton is free to you, it is not free to us… so when people are willing to meet us together we really do appreciate it! In the end, we’re not just providing a window. We’re very “concerned with providing good service.” You’ll find this statement supported by the Angie’s List reviews on this page, and in a broader sense on Google (go to https://plus.google.com/115774910744177963034/about?gl=us&hl=en). Our mission is to WOW customers, and erase the negative home improvement image that gives our industry a bad name. If you or your spouse truly believe both of you will be best served by one of you meeting with our foreman alone, we will respect your wishes. We just hope you’ll consider the benefits of a joint meeting as well. I’ll reach out to you later in the week to see if you’d like to reconsider and have a foreman to your home. Regardless, I hope you’ll accept the small gift I’ve e-mailed to you as an apology for not serving you to your satisfaction. Sincerely, Suzanne January Customer Service Manager"

Sales rep came within a few days of calling for a quote.  All questions were answered, including which doors qualified for a tax credit.  Product was ordered and scheduled for installation within 10 days.  The patio door is very good quality and worth the cost.  They brought a large crew and got the job finished within an hour.  A tax credit certificate was presented upon completion.  I will use them again for door and window needs.
