Took vehicle up @8 am and it took 15 minutes to come out of garage just to greet me,wrote car up and said he would be in touch. I did not hear from him until 5pm saying he put it on machine and said problem in dash which has to be taken out to be repaired but not sure if that is the problem,so I decided not to have car repaired by him and took it somewhere else who fixed it the same day,so I will not recommended anyone take my car there

Their prices are reasonable. They provide good service.
Description of Work: My car is over there right now getting tuned up. Before that, I took it there for an oil change and tire rotation.

While on the road, my Toyota managed to blow a physical hole in its own engine block. Basically, the cylinder connecting rod closest to the starter broke free from the crankshaft and decided to go out for some fresh air. After bouncing around a few other garages, I finally contacted THE Engine Exchange, where Frank arranged to have the car towed to his garage. After consulting with Frank for a while, I opted to completely replace the full engine block and adjacent components. The proprietor and chief mechanic, Frank, lives up to his name. I very much appreciate his honesty and candidness. You won't find any manipulative service managers or hidden agendas here. Friendly and knowledgeable, Frank describes the issues well and makes certain that everyone involved understands the potential scope of work. He physically presented the issue for me and fully explained the situation. Frank has extensive experience working with third-party warranties and service contracts/insurance. I was able to receive the full credit owed to me by the third-party service contract, thanks to his meticulous skills with the paper work. Furthermore, the Engine Exchange has phenomenally fair pricing, on everything from towing arrangements to the shop's parts and labor warranty. The quality of service and testing are top-notch. The turn-around time is probably not as fast as those large, impersonal garages you find attached to dealerships. When it comes to major drive train service, expediency is not a virtue --- I value Frank's attention to detail and thorough approach to testing, all at a fair price. I am so impressed with THE Engine Exchange that I?m trying to get the word out to make sure this place thrives?so don?t be surprised if you see my alter-ego "GreggDaniel" promoting this shop elsewhere on the Net.
Description of Work: General inspection of vehicle and failure. Towing. Negotiation and filing with third-party service contract/insurance. Detailed and accurate estimation. Full, personal explanation of failure and potential scope of repair. Frequent status updates. Complete removal of full engine block and adjacent components. Detailed transmission inspection. Rapid procurement and installation of complete replacement engine block, starter, and adjacent components. Fluid service, especially oil and filter change. State inspection. Repair of dashboard lights and rear tag lights. State re-inspection. Brake inspection. Thorough testing.

I have an older vehicle which can cause many problems as it ages. I was having an on going problem with coolant leaking from my van. I took to a local auto mechanic a number of times. He could not locate the leak. It was getting very frustrating. I decided to give The Engine Exchange and AutoRepair a try. I am glad I did. Within 1 day Frank found the source of the problem and it was my water pump was leaking. I was alsohaving problem with the car atarting andhe foound that the fuel pump (which was the original) need to be replaced as well. He replaced both of them for me and I have not had a problem since. Would highly recommend The Engine Exchange and Auto repair. I will not go anywhere else from here on out.

I like that the mechanic was very sincere and is like a little one man show. I had originally scheduled in as a sitting week for the car. I scheduled it way out of time for the inspection; so I can make it first thing in the morning, and I could get in and out early. We had some last minute scheduling issues because as a matter of fact, a guy was fixing my house. I was all set that week, and I was trying to wind up guys one after another. Things got caught up in the communication and in the end; we had to shift the day. The car was there, and it was not only what the mechanic was doing. When I came to him and said, that it was not only the inspection, but it was also a sound that I was hearing in the back, he was able to deal with that. He was not able to give the car that day, but had to keep it for 2 days. His dad had to help, as I had issues where I couldn’t sit and wait. His dad was able to shuttle me, which I didn’t expect. I got rides on both ends to the shop till I picked up my car, which was really nice. There’s one really important thing I really want to let people know, which is that the mechanic makes sure that his business cards are updated. He is known by his business name; so if someone was to look him up, they would just find the name of The Engine Exchange & Auto Repair. I would recommend him, and I would use him again. I have been dealing with car dealers for a long time. The problem with the independent mechanics is that if something goes wrong, you can’t get recourse, but with dealers that’s not the case. I got tired of the downside of dealers. So I was able to read your site, and be able to read people’s feedback and reports and find someone I would want to deal with. I think before the repair thing came up, the inspections charges the dealers are charging are standard. I think the quality so far is good. The only thing is that the non shop part of his shop is very small and is not those sit and wait type of places. It would have been more comfortable or something. When I walked in to make the appointment, I actually asked him if he would mind if I sat and waited. I don’t know if I can say all this, but the flip side of it is, if people could schedule things ahead of time, and work around the dates at a time when his dad works, as it is not every day, it would work out good. Then his dad does the shuttle service for him.
Description of Work: I used the services of The Engine Exchange & Auto Repair for an inspection, where they detected bad wheel bearings a couple of weeks ago.

While inspecting my vehicle Frank identified a defective wheel bearing/ hub assembly that was installed by a different mechanic. He thoroughly explained the problem as well as how I can identify a problem like this in the future. After I had the work re-done by the previous mechanic, Frank re-examined the wheel bearing at no charge to ensure its safety. Frank had also gone out of his way to make arrangements with me so I could make it back and forth to work while my car was being worked on. Frank is honest, straight to the point and more than accomodating. I have since been back for new brakes, tires, wheel alignment and general maintenance. I consider myself a lifetime customer!
Description of Work: I had car inspection and emissions, new brakes, general maintenance and wheel alignment. Frank is honest, fair and extremely diligent with all of his work.

The owner Frank did the work himself and not only found an issue from work done by a previous mechanic that could have caused a severe accident, he didn't charge anything additional. Frank completed the inspection, emission, and got us a good set of tires at a decent price. Frank also fixed a disconnected door latch on my girlfriend's car that prevented the door from opening by the outside handle and he didn't charge us anything over top of the service we asked for. His reason was that it only took him 5-10 minutes. You don't find service like that anymore. I have no affiliation with Frank or his shop, but if you are like us and you want an honest mechanic at a reasonable rate, see Frank!

I spent about $1,000 at Pep Boys on new tires and breaks only to have to fill my tires with air every couple days due to my low pressure sensor constantly going off. After repeated trips back to Pep Boys with no resolution, I took my car to Tom's Auto Repair and spoke with the owner Frank. He removed the tires and cleaned up the bead seal and re-mounted the tires. They were better but not completely fixed. I returned with the car on Franks request and he ultimately found the issues being the seals in the tires pressure sensors that Pep Boys messed up. Not only did Tom replace the seals, he didn't charge me anything beyond the first visit. If you need auto repair or general maintenance and you feel like you can't trust your mechanic, you should speak with Tom. He got the job done and didn't try to beat me over the head with price. Rare these days so a definite recommend!
