JACK FARRELL GARAGE DOOR

Owner did respond to initial call regarding repair, indicated he was busy with commercial job, but set an appt time to come out and review job to be done.  He was a no-show, I called and he gave a health excuse and he was down an employee.  He said he would call back to re-schedule.  I had to call back again and he said the health issue was not resolved. 
I know he wasn't truthful about the health issue because from my initial contact to today, several customers have posted reviews!
Because of provider's lack of integrity I wrote this review, if he would have been honest and upfront letting me he wasn't interested in doing this repair I wouldn't have written a unfavorable review.

Emailed Jack Farrell regarding an estimate for two new garage doors.  He called back that day, and stopped by our home later the same day to drop information on the doors and to evaluate the project.  We discussed different options for the doors and the finishes.  He provided input on specials currently available on doors, finishes available, R ratings and their impact for our particular garage configuration.  We also discussed our two garage openers which weren't functioning properly and Jack said he would be able to address them, too.  I called and left a message the following day (Friday before Memorial Day) to say we wanted him to proceed with the installation.  I received a call back from Jack on Tuesday morning and he said he could be out on Thursday to do the work.  He and his team arrived slightly ahead of the scheduled time (about 5 minutes) and went right to work.  They discovered the door openers had been originally installed a bit too high up for really effective function.  They needed to remove them completely and reinstall them.  Within two hours, we had two new garage doors and two fully functional door openers.  The new doors have a much quieter sound than the original, and a far superior finish.  The are was left clean and neat when they were done.  The work was completed right on the budget agreed.  I would definitely call Jack again if we had future needs.

Appointments were met in time.  And they had lots of options for the new door.  Good thing was they could match the door color and design exactly to my home community guidelines.      A job well done, didn't take too much time. Guys were good.

I called Jack because our garage door was mysteriously opening, and was
not running smoothly.  He responded promptly.  He asked me some
questions about ow the door was operating and gave me a list of things
to try to see if we could cure the problem ourselves and avoid a service
call, which we appreciated.  The problem got better for awhile, but
then returned, so I called Jack again.  He came out promptly, repaired,
lubricated and adjusted the door.  It has been operating perfectly ever
since.

Folks: looking for a contractor who returns calls promptly, does exactly as requested--on budget,and is courteous, efficient and cleans up when done? Look no further. My garage door started to come apart at the bottom. We had been planning on a new garage door so we knew what we wanted. I called on a Saturday morning and got a return call in 15 minutes. We set up a time for Jack to come take a look. He was on time, took measurements , gave me a price, and said he call me on Monday to advise availability. He called, said it was i stock and we set a date for install. Jack and his assistant were here a bit early (!) and completed the job faster than expected. And the price was spot on. I'd rate Jack Farrell Garage Doors A+ but Angie's only goes up to A!

I called on Thursday, April 4, 2013 approximately 1:30pm.  I left a voice mail as requested and within 15 minutes Mr. Farrell returned my call.  I explained my problem and he said that he could be at my home first thing Friday morning.  I said that would be fine, but I would not be available until about 9:00am, so he said to call him and if he could, he would come by in the morning otherwise it would be sometime on Friday for sure.  I called him Friday @8:45am and he said he would see me in 15 minutes.  Mr. Farrell arrived just like he said and immediately assessed the problem.  I asked how much it would cost and he quoted me the price, which I thought to be very fair.
He said he could do the job right away and I was very happy about that. The job was done quickly and efficiently and I would contact him again if I had another problem with the garage.  I found Jack Farrell to be knowledgable, professional and extremely polite.

I called on a Saturday around 11am.  I left a voice mail for them as they had not picked up.  However, they got back to me 10 minutes later.  He said they were available and could come out within 20-30 minutes.  
John arrived promptly on-time and assessed the situation.  It was clear that the spring was broken and he actually had the part in the truck.   He gave me the price of $290 upfront.
He went to work quickly and efficiently.    He was very pleasant to talk to as he performed the work.  The spring was stuck on pretty tight and he explained as he went where the initial installer hadn't put it on correctly and how the flywheel bolts were on backward.   He was definitely knowledgeable about his work.  It took him about 45 minutes or so to do the repair.    When finished he explained what he did and that he lubricated the system as well, explaining I should WD-40 it at least once a year to maintain it.
Will definitely be calling them back should I need another repair.

I had a great experience working with Jack. He provided a very competitive price over the phone. The house was still under construction when I first called. He drove to the home location to verify the size and weight of the doors before I moved in to make sure the price quote was accurate. He arrived on time and did a very good job installing to garage openers and keypads. He even offered to come back after we purchased a new car to program the openers in the car.

,No muss, no fuss, and price was similar to other highly rated company's coupon price.Also, didn't try to sell us anything else, even though we were prepared to replace rails and rollers.  Older door, operates smoothly. Very satisfied.

Jack did an excellent job regarding communicating an estimated price and timing of installation and working around my schedule. He installed the new garage door opener the same day as he provided a price estimate.  He ordered the new door (correct color and size) and was installed the following week. Very punctual and very good with explaining everything to me.  Left messages the day before regarding the arrival time.

Left a voicemail message about having a broken lift spring replaced on my garage door and the call was returned virtually immediately. After answering a few questions about my garage door, I received a price quote and was able to schedule an appointment for that same afternoon. The serviceman arrived on time, replaced the garage door springs in less than an hourat the quoted price less the Angie's List $10 discount.

Went very well. We even tortured them because we were unsure of what door we wanted, and they took it in stride. Once the door came in, they came right away, installed everything in a few hours, and showed us how to use the equipment.
The price was also fair.

This is the second time we've worked with Jack and it was as expected. Jack was out a year ago to fix a broken spring and at the time told us we should consider replacing the doors because they were at the end of their life spans. He was proven right. We got a few quotes and Jack was right there with the rest of them, but Jack's service is great and thats what puts him to the front of the line. They are prompt, professional and work quickly. From the time he gave us the quote and we contracted with him, everything went exactly along the timeline he provided us. He's in our rolodex and we happily refer him to anyone who needs his type of services.

Jack was very honest & forth  rite.  He said that our garage doors didn't really need to be replace, just repaired in a few places.  He was willing to put in new doors if we wanted, but advised us to save our money.  His punctuality, honesty, and professionalism were refreshing!

When the door came off the track, it would not open or close.  Jack came out promply that same day and fixed it.  This is my first experience with this gentleman, but when I need a new garage door, Jack will get the job.

The company lists Saturday and Sunday hours.  We had an emergency on Saturday with garage door railings coming off the garage ceiling, trapping two cars inside.  I called and left 2 voice mail messages, one on Saturday around 6 PM and another on Sunday morning, but nobody called me back.  Pretty bad for a company that lists Sunday hours and is in business where emergency response is needed.

From start to finish it was smooth...no hassles and no surprises.

Existing garage door was approximately 11 years old, however, no garage door opener was installed until 2009 by Sears. Unfortunately, it took several years before I noticed that the door was making a banging sound while closing. I then noticed recently that the door was bending in the middle upon closing. I checked for manufacturer name on door and then checked Angie's list and called Jack Farrell as he was Clopay dealer in the area. The community in which I live requires all of the garage doors to match.
Jack came out the day after the call. He was unable to repair the door as parts for the exact model I had were no longer manufactured. Jack surmised that Sears had not installed a support bar for the garage door when they installed the door opener, and a sticker on the middle of the door noted that one was needed. The Sears installers probably knew this too, but did nothing. 
I am in the process of notifying Sears of the issue as it was because of their installer's incompetence, that the door needed to be replaced. I doubt that 3 years after the door opener installation, Sears will reimburse me for the new door. However, I've used Sears for appliance installation/removal on a number of occasions and have not had an issue with these installations...just this one.

Everything he did was beyond satisfactory.  I was very happy with everything that he did.

Look no further if you need garage door openers.  This was my first referral after joining Angie's List, as there are so many local companies offering this service and I had no idea which one to choose.  Mr. Farrell returned my initial call within 5 minutes late on Friday afternoon.  He sent his son to evaluate the situation the following Monday morning.  The next day, Mr. Farrell, Jr. was here at 12:15PM and completely finished installing two new openers by 1:45PM.  He instructed me on the operation of all of the features of the openers, keypads, etc.  There was no sign that he had even been here as he removed every piece of packaging, etc., as well as the old openers.  Coincidentally, later that day I saw an ad in the newspaper for another local company for a "sale" price on the same model opener for far more than I paid.  We are totally satisfied with our experience with Jack Farrell Garage Doors and would recommend them highly!

They called me in advance of arriving, and showed up on time.  They proceeded to inspect all the areas of concern, provide me with a report of what needed to be serviced, and then performed the maintenance.  Jack and his crew were professional and efficient, and got the doors and lights in working order to my satisfaction.

Great.  Prompt, efficient, and I love the doors.

They came the day after I called.  They were early for the appointment and provided a 15 minute warning call.  When I asked if the springs should be replaced on the other doors Mr. Farrell suggested I wait until they failed - the springs might last for years.  I appreciated his looking out for my best interest.  I recommend him and will call him the next time I need service.
