Hungry Beaver Tree Svc

We had to reschedule with John a few times due to bad weather (at our own request.) John was extremely responsive and understanding and kept in contact with us throughout the process. He and his team are incredibly reliable, responsible and work hard to ensure that the job is done correctly. They showed up on time and did not leave until the job was done. They cleaned up the yard so well that even I (the biggest clean freak in the world) was able to smile and not have to worry about going out to clean up any leftover debris. I highly recommend Hungry Beaver Tree Service to anyone and cannot thank them enough for a job well done!

These guys deliver on their promises. John & Ryan maintained a professional attitude and stayed in touch with me during the various phases of work. The crew was respectful, well-coordinated and hard-working (even during the occasional episodes of rain that day). To their credit, they further managed to work around areas with blooming tulips, daffodils and hyacinths. Nothing was damaged ? quite a feat, given the areas in which they had to work. There?s more work to be done around here, just not this year. But I will use Hungry Beaver again in the future based on this experience.

From start to finish John did and excellent job, left no debris behind and did the trees and stumps the correct way, unlike some other tree companies that did work in our neighborhood after a storm came through.

We purchased a home that had a large, dying tree that had branches touching the house. Our home inspector mentioned that the tree needed to be removed. John was a pleasure to deal with. He was willing to give an approximate estimate over the phone given listing pictures, as we were unable to have him go to the house for an estimate, as we did not yet own it. After closing, we contacted John, and the tree and stump were gone 2 days later. He was very courteous and prompt to return calls & perform the service. He was extremely friendly, reasonably priced and a pleasure to deal with.

All went very well. John and his assistant worked very hard, checking w/me often on what exactly I wanted done and informing me of any potential problems that could result. All trees/limbs etc. were ground up and disposed of. All areas worked on (which were many) were swept up and cleaned out before they left. I was very pleased.

We were happy with all the services provided. Due to inclement weather we had to reschedule a couple of times but the owner was proactive in letting us know beforehand if the weather was too bad to bring the machines out to our property. The team was very professional, efficient and friendly. The job was completed in 1 day, as promised.

John was amazing. He came and gave me a very reasonable estimate. I had other estimates with some slightly lower but he had a better execution plan for the whole project. He offered to clean out the area more efficiently, able to do the job within the week, he had the equipment where it wouldn't be necessary to have a large truck drive onto my yard to reach the tree height and cleaned up very well after the job was done. He was there with one other worker and it was amazing so see how quickly they worked. The whole job was done in less than a day. I would definitely recommend and use his company again in the future if need be. He even followed up and explained to me which firewood would be ready to use this winter.

Everything went very well. John is very pleasant to deal with, very punctual, and knows what he's doing. They did the grinding on a second visit, as the grinder was being serviced. But he kept me informed at every turn. I always knew what to expect. The two surprises? My neighbor asked if he could trim the bushes that were encroaching on her garage. Yep, no problem. But my favorite...I asked John if he knew someone who could take down my old roof TV antenna. He looked at it, and said he'd do it, as part of the package. Sweet! How did I find John? He was doing work at a neighbor's property, and I noticed how clean the equipment was. That's always a good sign. Then I checked Angie's List, and hired him. John has my future business. I am late in writing this review, but that is my fault completely.

John was extremely courteous and returned my calls same day. He was able to get our job scheduled in less than 2 weeks even though it required him to find a crane and lots of manpower to do the job. He showed up as scheduled bright and early with a huge crew, several large trucks, a crane and lots of equipment. They completed the job as promised and it was like they were never there. They left my yard free of debris and did a great job with cleanup. John has my business for all of our future tree trimming needs. Thank you so much!

Excellent. Owner does his own work with help and allowed me to direct the work over several hours. Work was quite delicate to avoid damage to existing lanscaping. Owner went above and beyond expectations, service and clean up.

A mulberry tree collapsed on wires behind our house. John from Hungry Beaver came to examine the tree, gave us a low estimate, and we hired him. He completed the job of cutting up the tree and cleaning all the debris in the yard. He was fast, and efficient, and pleasant and thorough. He has our business forever.

Very efficient, cleaned up all mess

John was so great! He responded to my inquiry so quickly and was thorough and personable. He had a good price, and came when he said he would and kept us up to date on any issues. We'd definitely use Hungry Beaver again!

At about 3am my wife and I woke up to a loud crash, only to find that a tree had broken and come crashing into our bedroom bathroom - about 10 feet from where we were sleeping. We filed an insurance claim and began calling tree services to have the tree removed. Despite calling many providers that claimed 24 hours emergency service, no one even answered the phone (apparently 3am is not part of the normal 24 hours in a day). We did not initially call Hungry Beaver, but did so early the next morning - approximately 8am - and they were the only ones who responded. Other providers who we left messages for either did not call back until much later in the day, or did not call until after the holiday weekend was over. Hungry Beaver came over - John and his assistant, Meg - that day, and quickly took care of the work that needed to be done. Despite it being an emergency, he did not charge his normal emergency rate, perhaps giving us a break due to the fact that we were nearly crushed by a tree, or perhaps just being a nice guy; either way, he was great. He and Meg yelled a bit back and forth to each other, kind of like a couple in a relationship (which they may or may not be), but it was never unpleasant - it was actually quite entertaining - something we needed, given the nightmare of the night before. The end result was wonderful - he removed the tree from the roof, and took down the rest of it from the ground, chopping up both pieces. Since we are in a forested area, he left the logs there, saving us paying for chipping/disposal fees. He also put on a tarp to cover the hole - ensuring it was held in well and draped in a way that would direct water flow away from the hole until the hole itself could be repaired. John and Meg were both extremely personable and down to earth - they even stayed behind a bit afterward to talk, after the work was done. Overall, we would definitely use Hungry Beaver again.

I contacted 3 tree services, Hungry Beaver, and 2 others from the top of the list on Angie's List. John was quick to get back to me the same day that I called. The other 2 took a few days, to return my call. I spoke with John over the phone on what I wanted to do. We tentatively arranged a day and time for him to come out and look over the job. Later that evening, John called me again, and asked if he could come out to the house later that night and look over the trees. He and his assistant, Meg came out looked over the yard and the obstacles of the 2 pools and fences, and how he could drop each tree and what direction. I was surprised that he could chip all these trees with his equipment upto 15 inches in thickness. My other concern was driving his equipment on my lawn and creating ruts. He said that he could give me some available dates and I would be the one that gives the OK as to when I felt my yard was dry enough to prevent any damage. He gave me his estimate and I told him that he was the 1st company that got back to me, and that I had contacted a few others. Once I received the other estimates, I would make my decision. It took the other 2 companies until Monday to call me back and discuss the job. Both companies adviced that they would call me when they were in the area to come see the trees. This took another couple of days, in fact the one company, came out, while I was at work. Granted, he called 1st, but I was unable to leave work to meet with him. The 2 other companies gave me estimates of $3500 and $3000 for the job. I selected Hungry Beaver to perform the job. About a week later, Meg called to give me some dates they were available. I mentioned that I couldn't give the OK until I was comfortable with the dryness of my yard and preventing as many ruts as possible. I would need to check it out and call her back the next day. Once I was OK that my yard was dry enough, I called and gave the OK. They arrived on a Wednesday night around 6pm on their way home from another job to drop off their chipper. Since their truck was only partially full wiith chippings, they decided to take advantage of the day light and dropped the 1st couple of trees and chipped them up and filled their truck. The next day they arrived with a larger truck and proceeded to carefully take down the remaining trees in between the 2 fences and the 2 directly behind my shed. I was very happy that nothing was damaged, everything went extremely well and they chipped a total of over 30 yards of pine trees. The next step was the stump grinding. John had a very impressing grinder on tank tracks that he operated via wireless remote. He set this up at the end of the tree line and just moved it up the line 1 stump at a time grinding them down to below the soil line. One of the things I was most impressed on, was the clean up. Meg and John did a phenominal job in cleaning up the yard of all the left over pine chippings, needles, cones and remaining stuff. They did such a great job, when I mowed the lawn a few days later, hardly anything was remaining in the yard that the mower hit. Extremely happy with that part of the job, I thought I was going to need to rake the entire back of my lot prior to mowing. There was hardly any rut damage to my yard from driving their equipment through my yard. It was almost like they were never their. I was so happy with their efforts. John and Meg did a fantastic job. I asked them for business cards, so I could pass them out to anyone that may need a tree service.

I was amazed at how hard and how fast Hungry Beaver owner John Katelas and his fiancé, Meg, worked to transform my "jungle" into a civilized property I can be proud of. The dynamite duo showed up when they said they would, at 8:30 in the morning. Other than a short break for lunch and to pick up additional equipment to do the job, they worked non-stop until 9:30 p.m. Even when it was dark, they didn't stop. They finished cleaning up the lawn of all branches and even really small sticks by putting on their miner-style head lamps. They cleaned it up so well that I was able to call my regular lawn care service and tell them to skip the yard's annual spring cleanup which usually costs $100. They saved me $100. . I simply can't say enough about how impressed I was, from our initial contact to the end of the job. I've already recommended them to several of my closest friends. I initially heard of them 3 years ago when a co-worker told me she was well-satisfied with the work they did for her and gave me their business card. I also checked Angie's List and saw good ratings for them. If you're trying to decide on a tree trimmer to hire, look no further than this pair of hungry beavers who are (forgive me) d*** good! I got a call from them within 24 hours of leaving an initial voice mail with them. Then, they stayed in touch on a daily basis, giving me reliable estimates about when they'd do the work. They actually finished another job a day early, but we agreed that we would wait an extra day until the lawn dried out after a day of heavy rains. No problem. Because John has top-notch equipment and cares about customer satisfaction, he makes sure there's very little or no lawn damage left by his truck and heavy equipment. Initially, he gave me an estimate of $600 for a very large cherry tree that needed heavy duty trimming, as well as a very dead Russian Olive tree that needed.to be removed. But he also mentioned he'd do a full day's work for $1200. Take him up on the offer, if he gives it to you. It was one of the best bargains I've ever nailed. Besides removing the first tree, he cut down three more. He trimmed at least four other trees. He also removed an ugly and unruly hedge and trimmed other brush from my fence line. I wasn't thinking when John hauled off the first full truckload of wood chips. When he returned, I asked him to save the remaining half-truckload for me to use as mulch (saving me still more money). They worked constantly. At different times when I looked out the window, I actually saw them running back and forth, hauling branches to the chipper. They really do a full day's work. They also consulted with me as the day progressed, concerning how much I wanted to have trimmed out of a particular tree or whether it really needed to be cut down.. My price did not include stump removal. That'll have to wait until I save up some more money, but I'm looking forward to having them come again. They've been added to my phone list for any emergencies caused by any future ice storms. Without a doubt, they deserve Angie's List honor roll status.

John has excellent, high quality equipment. Its heavy duty to do the job, but was very low impact on our yard. scisors lift has rubber tread, not tires. large chipper machine. He removed 5 trees - some pine, some hard wood. one of the trees was near power lines. good clean-up. all limbs removed and hard wood cut to firewood. following visit to remove stumps was also very well done and stumps removed as much as reasonable. i will use him again.

Hungry Beaver was great. Came when they said they would, didn't leave marks in the yard, didn't drop a tree on anything important, cleaned up well and was super nice. He came the same day I requested a quote, and came when he said he would. I would definitely use their services again.

Have used Hungry Beaver multiple times in the past - they have always been responsive and done a good job for a fair price.

They were not the cheapest estimate but they had all the right equipment and knew how to use it. John did the climbing and high work. We had three pine trees in the 30' - 40' range that were storm damaged and posed a threat to our neighbor's house. John took down the largest branches at the top of the trees first, then worked his way down the trunk until he could drop the tree. He had a chipper to grind everything up and a great piece of equipment to grab the trunk sections and load them into his truck. He had a stump grinder to take out the stumps (and he ground a stump in my neighbors yard for free) and they cleaned up the excess/waste materials. When he trimmed the oak tree that was encroaching on our roof, he ground those branches separately and left the mulch for us to spread over the area when the pine stumps had been.
