very frustrating, service good. the management and policies they have in place are shabby. it seems everything is bait and switch. that is why you must keep good records with seem.
Description of Work: just cancel service with jj skelton. would not recommend them. there are several reasons. there prices are high as of 12/6/12 4.54 a gallon compared to galbraith who i'm with now at a 3.89 a gallon. second you better keep good records with them. when we first signed on with them 9 years, we did budget plan at the end of the season we had a carry over for next season. next season came we had to remain them of the credit and the price we locked in on because first shipment came it was wrong and of course they had know record of it. fast forward to 10/1/12 i cancelled my service and today 12/6/12 they sent me shipment of oil. i called up got nowhere, since i didn't fill out paperwork which they told me nothing about it was my fault. even though when i talked them back in october they said everthing was squared away since i didn't owe an money. the one good thing i will say there service people are prompted and efficient. jim cratin havertown, pa

They were recommended by a neighbor, so we went with them. We haven’t run out of oil, which is important. They are efficient. They are careful with the shrubbery because where the oil goes in is behind the home in the bushes. They haven’t broken a bush yet. The delivery is on an automatic basis, so I never know when they are coming. They figure out based on how the weather is, if it is extremely cold, then they know we are going to be using more oil than we would if it was a warmer month, so they regulate, they know how big the tank is and they figure out how many days we go before we need a fill up. They never got into the point where we had to call and inform about the oil being run out. they have got it all computerized.

Description of Work: We used oil heat and used to order oil on a "will call basis" from another supplier, with the stipulation that when ordering, at least 150 gallons would be ordered. With the spike in oil heating prices, in recent years, we sought out other oil suppliers, to save money. JJ Skelton, which we have used for the last 2 years, refused to provide will call customers their "cap rate" for the season, claiming that such customers only call when they are out of oil, and then only want a small delivery- up to 100 gallons. As will call customers,with our previous supplier, we typically would get one 150 gallon delivery in the fall, then two- three full tanks during the winter, and another 150 gallon delivery in the spring. JJ Skelton required us to go on automatic delivery with them, yet then came every 2-3 weeks during the fall and winter, never delivering more than 150 gallons, despite their stated policy about small delivery amounts!! At the beginning of this past heating season (11-12) we agreed to use them for another year, but advised them we would be considering switching to a geothermal heat pump or natural gas. They again topped off our tank all winter, and at the end of April '12, delivered their largest delivery of the year, app 127 gallons to fill our tank, 275 gallons worth, when our heat was all but off. WE live in the PHila. area and did not need another delivery until probably Thanksgiving. Also decided to convert from oil, and requested that they pump out the oil and credit us something for it as we currently have app $1000 worth of oil for which we have no use. They of course refused claiming that they were within their rights to fill our tank during "heating season" even while being aware of our intention to move away from oil. They simply told us that they "could not take back oil" and threatened us with collection actions if their last bill was not paid. An unbelievably bad experience, and a firm I will never deal with again. DO not use this firm - they are part of Champion Energy, out of New England.

We are very happy with the service we are receiving.
Description of Work: We became dissatisfied with our old heating oil company in the summer of 2011 and signed up as a new heating oil customer of Skelton in January, 2012. Since this winter has been so mild, we only had 2 heating oil deliveries so far. Both times, the deiveryman was very courteous. The delivery itself was efficient and very neat. When we were looking to change heating oil companies, we checked with neighbors for recomendations. Skelton was recomended and we have been very happy with them. We are on a "pay as you go" basis and are happy with the price we've been paying. We also purchased the Gold Service Contract and had to use it once when the motor burned out.

CONSIDERING THAT SKELTONS HAD SERVICED THE FURNACE AND PRONOUNCED IT IN GOOD CONDITION, I WAS DISAPPOINTED THAT IT FAILED. HOWEVER, THE WORST EXPERIENCE WAS WITH THE REPRESENTATIVE WHO CAME AROUND AFTER THE FAILURE. HE BANGED ON THE BASEMENT DOOR, I TOLD HIM HE WOULD HAVE TO WALK AROUND TO A DIFFERENT DOOR BECAUSE MY CONTRACTOR HAD THE ONLY KEY TO THE BASEMENT. THIS SEEMED TO MAKE HIM VERY ANGRY, AND I REMEMBER HIM SNORTING "JESUS CHRIST!" I WAS HOME ALONE AND FELT INTIMIDATED BY HIM. WHEN I MENTIONED THE PREVIOUS GOOD REPORT FROM THE SAME COMPANY, THIS REPRESENTATIVE SAID THE OTHER PERSON NO LONGER WORKED FOR THE COMPANY AND HE SEEMED CONTEMPTUOUS OF HIM.
Description of Work: BEFORE BUYING THE HOUSE, I ASKED FOR AN INSPECTION AND REPORT ON THE OIL FURNACE. THE REPORT, BY SKELTONS, WAS GOOD. AFTER BUYING THE HOUSE, I SIGNED A SERVICE CONTRACT WITH SKELTONS, FOR OIL DELIVERY AND CARE OF THE FURNACE. THE SALESMAN CHECKED OVER THE BOILER AND CONFIRMED THAT THERE WERE YEARS OF LIFE LEFT IN IT. HE TOLD ME NOT TO BE TEMPTED TO REPLACE IT AS "THEY DON'T MAKE THEM LIKE THAT ANY MORE." NEXT WINTER, IT FAILED, FILLING THE HOUSE WITH SOOT. JUST PRIOR TO THAT, THE PROMISED AUTOMATIC DELIVERY OF HEATING OIL DID NOT OCCUR, AND I WAS LEFT WITHOUT HEAT AND HOT WATER FOR 3 DAYS. I HAD TO BUY A "MINIMUM AMOUNT" - MORE THAN I NEEDED, WHICH WAS LARGELY LEFT IN THE OIL TANK AFTER IT WAS REMOVED.
