Construction on the pool started in June of 2016. We requested a salt water pool at first, but a chlorine pool with UV and Ozone was recommended. We also made it VERY clear that we had well water and so could not fill the pool. We were told that wouldn't be a problem and that they could bring water in. There was no construction manager overseeing the project, which we were told there would be. And the trouble started when they started the cement work. They didn't bring water and ran our well dry. They apologized and assured us this wouldn't happen again. It did... They hadn't organized for water to brought in for plastering and ran the well dry when they tried to start filling the pool. Had to spend $1800 on an emergency water order. The response from the builder was. "We never told you it was free" Next issue was a pool leak. I was losing 500 gallons per day. After more than a week of them not showing up or sending the wrong person. I found the leak myself. They finally sent somebody to repair the leak which was with an underground pipe that had cracked. They installed the Ozone equipment based on an old installation method that the manufacturer recommended not doing anymore. They argued with me constantly and finally corrected that earlier this year. (Almost a year after installation) They forgot to install the deep heat circulation system claiming that it wasn't on the plans, which it wasn't, but it was on the contract that we signed. They forgot to install the inline chlorinator too.... That was installed months after the pool was in operation. They had electrical work and plumbing work completed prior to rough grading which meant that during excavation for the patio area, both plumbing lines and electrical lines were found to be in the way and had to be relocated. Zero communication throughout the project. I would ask when the next step was happening and if they responded, the day they told me would always come and go without any notification. Finally, I should never have been sold a chlorine setup like the one they sold me. (I probably should have done more research, but I trusted them). If you use chlorine tablets, the Cyanuric Acid builds up in the pool. This means you need to add more Chlorine than normal. They only way to remove Cyanuric Acid is to drain the pool (Typically half of it) and refill it. Not a problem if you have city water, but not good for people with a well. The recommendation for people with well water is Salt Water or liquid chlorine...... Overall, I love my pool, but the process with Blue Haven was not a good one. I would not recommend Blue Haven to anyone based on my experience. .

The project was kept on time and in budget. My salesman was very knowledgeable and I felt comfortable using Blue Haven. All of our questions and concerns were answered immediately. We get compliments all the time on our pool from friends and family. Our backyard was transformed into a mini vacation spot.

Description of Work: My 23 yr. old pool needed a full redo. I paid Blue Haven a 1/4 payment at contract signing in Oct. As promised, his crew showed up early April, emptied the pool and removed all coping and tile. At that time another 1/4 check was paid. Then things got bad. Weeks went by with no work being done. Calls to the office were answered with responses about trouble scheduling due to weather ( April was beautiful) etc. I emailed the boss since I had no luck with his office manager. He responded that he would speak to the manager. Still nothing. I felt that I was trapped. So much money had already been paid and I was at the mercy of a business which felt no need to hurry along the project which I had been assured in Oct. would definitely be finished and swimmable by Memorial Day ( didn't come close). Finally after weeks of a very dangerous backyard situation ( large empty concrete cavern that had amassed rainwater and 27 trapped frogs) during which I couldn't have my 2 young grandsons in the yard at all, the coping crew finally arrived. This work took 6 days. The men mixing the cement were incredibly sloppy, splashing cement while mixing and carrying the cement. After their work was done another long stretch with no work and no communication from the manager despite my calls and voicemails. Finally my son-in-law contacted a high school friend who worked in the law office that handles Blue Haven Pools and that inside help led to a late May to early June flurry of activity. The tile, bonding and plaster contractors all arrived and did their respective jobs in 8 days. By June 9th I started filling the pool with water. Had I not had that insider help the work most likely would still not be done. Additionally I sent Blue Haven 2 photos of lawn areas currently covered in cement. These sections had been newly sodded last fall and are now ruined. I asked to have these areas repaired. I received an email telling me to read #5 in the contract where it says they are not responsible for any damage they may cause and that I should "throw some grass seed down". What grass seed germinates on cement?? I was enraged by this whole process. They were not in the least concerned about customer satisfaction or communication. If I could give a grade lower than an F I would.

As you will note my pool and spa were finally installed in late November 2000. Angie's List is finally where others can share my bad experience and learn from it. Blue Haven consisted of a bunch of lies and broken promises from the beginning. They broke ground for my pool and spa in March 2000, and we were never able to use the pool that year. They plastered it in November of 2000. We basically had a very big concrete bird bath in our yard that we had to watch over so that none of the neighborhood kids might get into and possibly get injured or worse! Blue Haven had every excuse in the world as to why they couldn't get the pool finished in a timely manner. Any and all payments requested were made, and on time so they had no excuses. PS.....Blue Haven will accept your personal checks for everything, except when it comes to plastering. When the plastering company shows up that morning, you better have CASH, or a certified check / money order. Your personal check will Now be considered an insufficient method of payment! The plasterer will not begin until they have the final payment in hand. They will literally sit in their truck until the payment has been made on their terms only. FYI..... Here it is 13 years later, my spa has deteriorated so much, I am currently looking for another company to come and basically re build my spa, as well as re tile my gunnite pool and spa. It is literally falling apart in places. I was not satisfied with Blue Haven 13 years ago, and I'm still not. I would recommend that you look elsewhere. If I am not mistaken, my township (Limerick) has limited Blue Haven's work here. Too many complaints about their workmanship, and the sub contractors they were using at that time.
Description of Work: Had Blue Haven install both a concrete swimming pool with an attached spa. They also did the patio as well as walk way around entire poll and spa with cool decking.

There were some challenges with the weather. In general, they made everything right. I was very pleased with how the pool came out. Their pricing was better than other estimates I received.

My overall comment would be to shop around. I feel we were sold on a bill of goods that they wont (note not cant but wont) deliver on.
Description of Work: We contracted to have a pool with lazy river installed in april of 2010. its april 2012 and its still not completed. they tell us to pick out tile and by the time they order it, its discontinued. they drop off samples and suddenly they are upgrades. since the shell has been poured in November 2010, dirt and mud have gone in it and we are told that we will have to pay to have it cleaned because "its not their property" We were promised we would be the first to be plastered and now its excuse after excuse. the pump filter wires are not labeled properly and our master electrician was told to call the manufacturer vs someone being sent out. We ordered a custom mosiac back in october 2011 and they just got around to ordering it. there is still tile work and coping that needs to be completed before the pool is plastered and that has yet to be scheduled.

BLUE HAVEN DUG OUT OUR BACKYARD ON MARCH 10, 2004. WE WERE NOT ABLE TO SWIM FOR ALMOST SIX MONTHS TO THE DAY -- MID-SEPTEMBER. THROUGHOUT THE SUMMER, WE HAD A HAZARDOUS HOLE IN THE BACK YARD. BLUE HAVEN WOULD NOT RETURN PHONE CALLS. WORKERS WOULD SHOW UP, DO A STEP IN THE PROCESS, AND THEN WE WOULDN'T SEE OR HEAR FROM THEM FOR WEEKS. OUR UNFINISHED POOL BECAME A JOKE IN THE NEIGHBORHOOD. CONSIDERING THE INVESTMENT A POOL IS, THEIR LACK OF PROFESSIONALISM WAS APPALLING. WE HAD TO SUE IN ORDER TO SPUR THEM TO FINISH, AND THERE STILL ARE ITEMS UNDONE, INCLUDING REMOVAL OF DUMPED CEMENT IN OUR VEGETABLE GARDEN. SUBCONTRACTORS TOLD US THAT BLUE HAVEN WAS WAY OVERBOOKED -- THEY TOOK ON MANY, MANY PROJECTS THAT THEY KNEW THEY COULDN'T FINISH IN A REASONABLE TIME FRAME. I WILL SAY THAT THE POOL THEY BUILT APPEARS TO BE OF GOOD QUALITY. THAT IS SOME CONSOLATION. HOWEVER, I COULD NEVER RECOMMEND THIS COMPANY. ONCE YOU SIGN THE CONTRACT, THEY HAVE NO INTEREST IN YOU.

THEY CAME ALMOST ONE MONTH LATER AND BY THE END OF MAY WE WERE ALL SWIMMING AND FREEZING.
Description of Work: WE INHERITED A PROPERTY (MY MOTHER IN LAWS PLACE) AND THE POOL WAS LEFT TO ROT AND DECAY. AFTER THEY EXPLAINED MY OPTIONS AND DID A DETAILED EXAMINATION OF THE POOL, THEY GAVE ME THE CHEAPEST OPTIONS THAT I COULD AFFORD.
