The $35 charge included the inspection and tune up as well as the flapper replacement. I apologize if there was a misunderstanding and you were not happy with only being charged $35. GM"

Ray showed up on time and explained what he'd be doing, then got to work. One of the toilets (which at least from a non-plumber perspective was working fine) had a part break while he was checking it out. He let me know about the broken part and that he had to call it into his office. This is where the trouble began... Obviously I could only hear one part of the conversation, but it sounded like Ray was getting in trouble over the broken part and the fact that he'd have to go pick up a replacement to install. He seemed beaten down by the conversation and I felt badly about it (I'd like to note that he was still professional and didn't take it out on me, but his mood was obviously different).He explained that the flush valve on the toilet didn't look great and he felt that it needed to be replaced. The toilet was working and I have no idea if the $182 price he quoted was fair, but I just felt badly because the guy seemed genuinely broken down after the conversation with his office... so I approved the replacement and told him that I hoped it helped out with the situation back at his office. He thanked me for it.The rest of the toilets were inspected without issue and he did a quick check on the rest of the plumbing, made a few comments/recommendations and then he was done and left.
Additionally I'd like to note that I appreciated him putting on shoe-covers whenever he came into the house. I had 5 different contractors out there over a 2 day period right after moving in and he was the only one that used those shoe covers.I explained all of this to Gina from O'Donnell over the phone when she called to see how things went. She was very nice and also sent me a $25 gift certificate toward future service. O'Donnell really has top notch policies in place for communication.
As I said in the beginning... all in all it was an ok/fair visit. I have no idea if it was the right choice to let the extra work be done, but I felt better about knowing (or hoping) that the guy wasn't going to lose his job or something over the broken part.
I'd probably give O'Donnell another shot... companies that communicate well are hard to find.

Scheduling was easy. I called and immediately had someone on the other line. Asked about the Big Deal and what was to be expected. All was explained thoroughly and to my liking so I booked on the spot for the following week. A few hours passed and I logged back onto Angies to purchase the Big Deal -- it was no longer available for the price it was earlier. I immediately called and explained what had happened. No problem. O'Donnell stuck by the original price and told me not to worry. That brought a smile to my face!
Day of inspection came and all went well. Ray was on time (waited in his truck outside until actual scheduled time) and was extremely friendly. He explained what he was going to do and before he started put on some booties so as to not dirty my carpets. All in all he was at my house for about an hour and before he left went over the inspection report and any issues he had discovered. I asked about the one issue that popped up and he kindly showed me and explained in detail. Ray is very knowledgeable and didn't pressure or try to sell me on anything unnecessary. He explained what I should do to better maintain my A/C unit and what he recommends in terms of corrective action. Gave me a quote on corrective work and was completely honest in saying it was not the cheapest but that they back up all of their work and do it the right way. I thanked him very much and told him I might call to schedule once I could make an informed decision.
Called around to get quotes and O'Donnell had the best price even before any discounts or coupons. Called O'Donnell back and booked corrective work for the following day. I was not home the following day but my fiancee was and she too was very pleased with Ray's service and friendly manner. Once I got home everything looked good and I was very pleased. A/C is working more efficiently now.
Overall I highly recommend O'Donnell for HVAC work. They also do plumbing but I cannot comment on that, yet. I will definitely be calling them for all my future HVAC and possibly plumbing work. Very happy to have a good and honest local company I can rely on.

"Member: I want to apologize for any inconvience this may have caused you. Pricing for repairs on hot water heaters that were not installed by our company would incur labor charges. Normally in these cases you would have been refunded the parts costs once we received compensation for any parts that were covered under warranty. We cannot always guarentee warranty coverage unless we installed the hot water heater due the fact that the manufacturer may not honor the warranty. We have been in this predicament serveral times and then we do not receive any compensation and are thus out money for a warranty that was not installed or purchased through our company. We can only guarentee and honor our own warranty. The technicians are advised to not discuss outside warranties until we can guarentee coverage at which time we then refund any compensation we receive from the outside warranty carrier. I apologize for any misunderstanding and that we did not better explain ourselves. As far as the pricing for repairs I do apologize that you weren't happy with the pricing. In the future, should you choose to use us again, if you have any kind of concerns you should call the office immediately and see if there are any kinds of specials, discounts or coupons we can offer. I do know we are a bit more expensive on our hot water heater replacements but we do give full parts and labor warranties on the units for a minimum of at least 6 years. I have used O'Donnell many times over last 12-15 years. They are always on time, do good work, are very responsive in emergency situations including weekends and in bad weather. They are not cheap--but you get what you pay for. Would recommend and use again.
