Matus Windows

Matus Windows is a wonderful family-owned business where staff is knowledgeable and incredibly low key (think diametric opposite of the hard sell by Anderson replacement windows). The order was ready when they said it would be, the workmen came to install the windows on time, and the job was completed on schedule. The crew cleaned up completely when they were done. Installing thirteen replacement windows in our Victorian twin where nothing is square anymore was extremely challenging, but the work was top-notch. The windows are very attractive and fit in with the style of our house perfectly. Well worth the expense over cheap vinyl. Very easy to clean. Energy ratIng is great. I just ordered another 5 windows.

The quoting experience was performed promptly and without the hard sell of other window companies (i.e. Anderson). The job was scheduled in a reasonable manner, with an eye to the weather as there were some rainy day issues. The actual installation went smoothly. The master installer and his assistant worked together as a well integrated team. They repaired rotted wood and spent extra time installing the window because the ceiling in the kitchen was not square and level. They were able to adapt to conditions as they found them, with another Matus employee delivering an additional unexpectedly needed molding piece so the work could proceed on time. They did a very good job with the outside rain shield and sealing work that matched the color of existing trim closely. They did a thorough cleanup and removal of the old window and debris. It was a pleasure to watch their skill and craftmanship in action. I highly recommend them to other Angie's List members.

We visited the Marvin Gallery and were very pleased with the product. We were looking to replace all the windows in our home. Salesman came to take measurements and said he would get us an estimate. We had to call several times over coming weeks to get estimate. When we finally got the pricing we were pleased and said we wanted to upgrade to a more expensive type of window and asked salesman how much that would be. He never got back to us. Weeks later when we finally tracked him down he said he just didn;t have the time. OUr job probably would have cost about $75,000. I guess Matus is doing so well they don't need the business. Obviously, we moved on.

I highly recommend Matus Windows. They were always on-time for both the estimate and the final job, and in fact, arrived early. They maintained good communication with me throughout the process. The site was left neat and clean. The only thing I would have done differently is to inquire about window handles, which are not offered as a standard component. I would have had them installed at the time, had I realized. This oversight does not impact my rating of Matus Windows, but it is something to consider for anyone thinking about purchasing windows. I would definitely consider using Matus Windows again in the future.

Spoke with a Sales Consultant about three weeks ago. He gave some rough estimates on the phone but said he'd need to visit the house to give a more accurate quote. We arranged to meet on July 5. He came out, was on time and took the measurements. Said I'd hear back within a week. That seemed like a long time, but I wasn't in a particular hurry, so wasn't a problem. After about a week, I emailed him and got no response. It's been 13 days since he's been to my house and I've yet to have any communication. Needless to say, I wouldn't give them the job even if they offered to do it for free. What an unprofessional way of handling business!

Their crew is very good, great crew.

We had most of the windows on our house replaced by Matus Windows. We went with them because of excellent reviews and references, plus the fact that they were a full time windows installer instead of general carpenters or home improvement contractors. The workers were on time and efficient about getting started. However, one primary concern I had was that our old windows had lead paint on them. We have a small child and I am pregnant, and I wanted the work to be as clean as possible since our little one puts her mouth on EVERYTHING. A family member was at our house overseeing the work, and reported back that dust was going everywhere. Also, the lead test they took came back negative. We knew that at least some portion of the paint was lead (based on home test kits.) And while I knew that there would be dust and debris, it did not sound like they were taking all the precautions they needed to, even though I had been clear all along that that was a top priority for me. However, after calling the supervisor and one of the owners and explaining my worries, their response was great. The next day they sent an extra man who spent over two hours cleaning the area they had already done and they also took extra time with the windows that were left. When I came back home with my little one, the remaining debris and dust was extremely minimal - it was clear that they had listened to my concerns and responded appropriately. The work was finished on time with no surprise extras. The two minor details we needed addressed a few days later were responded to the same day, even after we had paid the remaining balance with our bill. The company representatives have all been responsive and friendly. So while I wish the care for the lead paint had occurred the whole way through, I was definitely pleased with the work and we love our new windows!

I liked them. They did a professional job in installing windows. They were very professional. They did it in two days. Their price was pretty good when compared to others.

The installation, over two days, went very well. Everything was in order and clean after the work was completed. I would ask them again.

Perfectly - I was the difficult one, if anyone was because of e-mail communications (I get too many e-mails & missed one by the estimator). However, overall - fantastic!!

They did a good job. The technicians were courteous and seemed to be on time. They also did a decent job cleaning up after themselves.

The installation went very well. The crew was professional. They knew just what they were doing and completed it quiickly. The strorm door took some figuring because there was no door there before, but the carpenter working on it knew exactly what to do and consulted me on how I wanted it done. I was very plased with their work, clean up and expertise.

The installers were fantastic. The job went quickly, it was huge as the large 8 foot tall patio doors were enormous. The new doors are beautiful and work perfectly. The installers even included extra framing around inside frame, which is beutifully done. Excellent job and very pleased.

I stopped in Matus Windows in Ardmore and talked with Bob Cunningham. He went over all of the possible windows and described the differences to me. He then offered to come out to the house and take measurements and pull together some pricing. There was no high pressure sales tactics going on, just helpful information and the facts as he knew them. We talked with a number of different companies and contractors over the next month or so. We had some interesting experiences. Some good and most not so good. We kept going back to the Matus and the Marvin Windows because of the quality of the window, professionalism of Matus Windows, and the pricing. My wife made numerous changes to style, colors, etc. Requested numerous color samples and stopped in the store a number of times. The staff and Bob were extremely helpful the whole time without ever being pushy or inconvenienced. When we finally made our decision, 6 weeks after initial contact, Bob and David Matus came to our home and redid all measurements. David was very helpful. He suggested a couple of changes that fit the look we were looking for in our sunroom and also saved us money! They were very thorough and professional. We then put a deposit down and the windows were ordered. 6 week to install we were told. I received a call from the intstaller about 4 weeks later and they were able to begin later that week. They showed up when they said they would and we gave them access to our home over the next 5 days. There was about 6 to 8 workers there at a time. The were as neat and clean as they could be. They installed the windows, insulated with foam, and trimmed out the windows beautifully. Above all expectations we could have had. In the sun room they removed old wood framing and set the new windows back to the original brick sills. The wood framing along the sides were replaced which border stone columns. The pieces had to be cut to conform to the stone columns which took meticulous cutting and sizing. The carpentry work that was done was exceptional. They then had it finished with mortar along brick and stone. David Matus came through upon completion and saw that our rear door frame was not perfect. He ordered a new door for that opening. Our experience with Matus Windows was exceptional. I would highly recommend them to anyone. It was a pleasure dealing with their staff. A special thanks to Bob Cunningham, David Matus, and the install team.

They showed up when they were supposed to. The project was done in a day and a half. The job was done efficiently and windows look great!

I wish every subcontractor we are using to renovate our townhome was this good. The window and door package is one of the highest dollar amount we are spending with any one company, so it has been extremely reassuring to be feel that we are in such good hands. David handled everything with us personally -- we were never passed off to a junior employee. He was clear and responsive in his communication with us, and when every window and door was delivered yesterday morning, it was hardly a surprise that every single unit was in perfect shape, with no damage whatsoever. Our neighbors spent as much as we did (with a different company) and all of their units came off the truck damaged, and it's been months to get them repaired or replaced. I am so glad we made the choice to work with Matus, and I would recommend them without hesitation to anyone looking for a high quality window and door.

We are very happy we went with Matus. Bob worked with us on every detail as we replaced 7 old (1920) windows that were cracked & drafty. We went with the Marvin ultimate inserts. The workers arrived on-time, worked quickly, and made sure we were happy with the windows before they installed them. They protected our hardwood floors during the installation and cleaned up after themselves. The windows are awesome - especially the casements. It really warmed up our 3rd floor and silenced noise from the road. We are very happy and hope to use Matus in the future.

They were very professional, the prices reasonable, clean and very courteous. We are having them out for an estimate to replace windows in the back of the house.

The installation went fine, as far as I can remember. Six years later, the cranks on the windows broke. Although the windows were no longer under warrantee, they stood by their work. After a bit of an exchange, they helped resolve the situation. They came out to the house and checked all of the other windows at the same time. Their responsiveness made me feel very good about the company, and I would call them again as a result of that.

The installers, Paul & Phil, did an excellent job. They were professional in every part of the job & were very courteous & friendly. Our salesman, Mike Foell, set up the order & did an excellent job when he came out to the house to inspect, measure & estimate. Excellent all around from start to finish.

I got estimates from several companies and not only was Matus the best price overall, Alex Matus was by far the most professional and courteous salesperson and very respectful of my budget. He gave me a ball park figure over the phone based on what I told him and then came out to give a more formal written estimate which was almost exactly what he quoted over the phone. He even accepted the Angies List coupon I found after the written estimate was given and agreed to. He also answered all of my questions with regards to the tax credit I was eligible for. The crew who showed up to do the work was very professional and finished the job in a timely manner. I would definitely use the company again in the future!

I originally rated Matus a "C" back in May, 2009, after they installed a new front door, mostly based on the extensive delays we experienced in ordering/obtaining the door. Recently, I was (finally!) getting the door stained by a painter, and 2 days before the painter was due to come, I realized that the decorative glass installed in the door had slipped down, such that there was a big gap (i.e. air could actually flow through). I contacted Matus (Alex), and not only did they repair the problem free of charge, but they sent someone the very next morning to do it, so that I could keep the appointment with our painter. Good customer service!

I thought they were good and helpful. I remember that we didn?t go with them because their estimate was a little higher and I think they were honest about not wanting to work with the stucco around our house.
