Horrible is the only word I can use to describe the work that was performed at my home.  I ended up having to fire this company and hire another one to completeand fix the work.  Work that was to be and condition once this contractor completed the work:  New Roof - The Roof leaked less then a year after it was put on.
New Garage Door - Contractor drilled an additional hole in the door for no reason at all, also hung it the wrong
way.  The mechanism that moves the garage door up and down was not
centered and is now bent.  Also, put pullies on backwards.
New Air Conditioner - Never insulated around it, never stabalized it.  It almost
fell out of wall.
New Spindles and Hand Rail on inside steps to 2nd floor - Contractor claimed it was not conforming steps.  Spindles where on a
sloped ledge and not on steps, which has nothing to do with it.  This part of the job had to be redone because it flunked inspection.  Also, contractor had purchased cheap, outdoor spindles, not the ones that we were originally quoted for.  This ended with the contractor having to return them and get the correct ones.  Built a landing at the bottom of the steps for me - it does not match up to the existing step, leaving a 1/2" gap, which you could clearly see and feel when walking up and down the steps.
Drainage system in basement - Never completed.  Contractor quoted us on
the job, then said he only wanted to grade the driveway and then refused
to do the work that was quoted because it would cost more money to do the work than he quoted us.
Painting - Never prepped the walls or wiped them down, contractor stated it was not included in the price.
Never removed outlet plates from walls, painted on them, along with windows.  Claimed to have primed and two coats of paint in 1 working day.  Worst paint job ever, some spots of the ceiling and walls were
never hit with paint.
New Hot Water Heater - My husband is the one who ended up installing it.  We were without hot water for over a month from
the time contractor received payment.    Finally, my husband agreed to install it so we had hot water.
Throughout the months this was ongoing with this contractor, numerous workers where hired and fired, in and out of my house without me being present.  There was additional damaged done to my home as well.  Cuts into the wood on my deck from the workers, numerous nicks on the hardwood floor from items dropped and carelessness, cigarette butts all over the outside of my property along with tons of nails.  The cleanup of the roofing material and nails was included in price, cleanup of nails never happened, I ended up stepping on one.  I had to purchase all new outlet plates and outlets.  I had to scrape all my windows from the paint,  Paint was all over the floor and heat registers, which was not cleaned up.  The contractor was never on site.  He did not supervise the crew and when the crew did show up it would be one day then a week later, someone else would show up.   I would NEVER hire this contractor again nor recommend him.  Price seemed OK, until I realized that half of the job was not included in his price (prepping, cleanup, etc. ), which I was told it was included.  It wasn't until after I had hired this contractor and work started, that I found out items were not included and that cheap replicas were added.    When I hire someone to do a job, it's to do an entire job, not bits and pieces of it.  Poor Work.

Because we were adding an interior space in what was formerly an exterior space, Mr. Davis had to build a proper foundation to pass building codes.  He has an excellent rapport with the building inspectors in our town because he follows the rules.  All inspections (structure, electrical and plumbing) took place on  time without delay to the project.  Because of the constantly changing codes in New Jersey, there was a  nominal increase in the cost to build the foundation to bring it up to code.  This was something that the building inspector ordered, not something Mr. Davis wrote in to increase his profit and was the only time we deviated from the original estimate.  Town and state codes change every day and this was not something Mr. Davis could have anticipated.

Overall, this was an extremely positive 1st time experience with an extensive remodeling project thanks to Davis Contracting.  Excellent customer service.  Mr. Davis is extremely attentive to his clients and takes the time to explain all phases.   He worked with us and answered all our questions.  Regarding work quality, friendly workers, knowledgable contractors and great attention to detail.  Regarding price, how can you beat $17K for a ground up addition to our home!
