Not well!

The service was very good.

On the night of Hurricane Irene,a Saturday night, during the tornado watch in our area, two huge red-oak trees fell in the woods at the back of our yard. After reading the recommendations on this site, I called Monster on Sunday morning. They wee extremely helpful, asking whether we needed them to come at once, or whether the following day, Monday would suffice. It was not an emergency. The following morning, after a courtesy call, Tom arrived at the precise time indicated. We inspected the damage together. He was knowledgeable, experienced and courteous and was able to give me the estimate almost at once. It was expensive, but he explained the reasons for this. I think the price was fair, considering the skill involved, time it took to complete the job, the number of people in the team involved, and the need for three large trucks to carry away the shredded trees. It was worth paying for the expertise and the difficult job well done. We consulted our insurance company and then asked Monster to proceed. The team worked tirelessly and very hard all afternoon. they left our yard in excellent order in spite of the large number of people involved, and the heavy loads being tramped over our lawn and woodland. We were very sad to lose two such mature, beautiful, healthy oak trees. However, once it had happened, Monster did everything possible to make the experience as un-stressful as possible. We recommend Monster very highly and would certainly use them for any tree work we need in the future.

All was ok, until... Getting a quote was fast and easy. That was June 2. The price was more than Rick's tree service, but Monster promised better service, no hassles. We got little advance notice of the start... A week after we signed the contract and gave a deposit, we got a call at 5:30 pm saying they'd be out the next day at 8 am to cut. They did a good job with the cut. But then it took an additional week to have the stump ground out. that was a month ago. And the waiting began. Now I have a five foot tall pile of wood chips in my front yard. It has been there for two weeks. We were told it would be gone in 2 to 4 days. Worse: We have left phone messages, asked to speak to the owner, sent emails.... Nothing. Today (June 29) he finally gets back to us and says they only fo pickup once a month. Not 2 to 4 days. We were lied to. Who would want a huge pile like this sitting in their front yard? I don't know what irritated us more.... The huge mountain in our front yard, or the horrible customer service, especially from the owner.

Called to get a estimate for some tree work. Someone came out on the appointed date and time which was a few days after my initial call. They matched a competitors estimate and indicated they could do the work within the next two days. They were out the afternoon of the next day and completed the work and cleaned up.

We have worked with them before, and we were happy with what they did. They took down a large pear tree that had been damaged in a storm. We had some more storm damage, and we had to have some more tree work done. They were pretty skilled. The prices were pretty fair. We actually got a discount through Angie's List.

Great experience. Came right away to give a free quote. Knew just what needed to happen. Clear about price. Gave a written quote. Offered the coupon discount. Tree had fallen on a wooden split-rail fence. They were able to use fencing from another job, and lowered our price for materials. Did what they said they would - all done well.

I only had a 5-minute conversation with them. They were really nice. They didn’t perform any work.

The people that did the service seemed to know what they were doing and there were enough workers that they were able to complete the work in an adequate amount of time. We still have an issue because they had a breakdown in their equipment, but we are not responsible for paying until the job is complete. I don’t have the sort of background to be able to compare them to other companies but they were here on time and they seemed to know what they were doing. They’ve been very kind but follow-through is not what I expected; the wait period has been fairly long. I thought the price was good and but I think they need to pick up on their follow-through.

Joe, the estimator, came to our home 2 weeks ago and presented us with a proposal. Since we were existing customers they considered us...pricewise. I was told that they would start the work in two weeks and effectively...that is what happened. They arrived at 8:30am on 4/28 and were done by 11am. The clean-up was well done and the trees looked great. They had their certified arborist at the site directing the work and took care to not damage my garden beds and new plantings. I was very satisfied with their work and will hire them again in the future. Pricewise...no one could touch their prices. This was not a situation of "you get what you paid for"...this was a situation that " you get MORE than what you paid for". A+ I will be hiring them again next year to cable my Poplar.

Josh, the owner, came the same day I called and gave me an estimate. I found his information through a clipper magazine and he honored their coupons ($200 off service of over $1K and $100 off if I booked them that same day). I had a Spruce and an Oak that had to come down immediately because of a shift during a wind/rain storm. I was being quoted prices around the $4000 mark because of the scope of the work. The Spruce removal involved a crane and bringing pieces of the tree over the house. Needles to say, it was involved. The size of my trees were about 3x the height of my house (I have a 2 story). They performed this work while I was on vacation and left the place SPOTLESS. My neighbors commented on this fact a few times. The only thing they did not finish was grinding the stump of the spruce since it is about 11 inches from my new windows. Once the snow melts they will do so. They also took care of a tree branch on my front Poplar. During this last snow storm, my neighbors and I hired them to clean up the tree damage around our properties. I was grateful for a little discount on that service and that they took care of my neighbors pricewise (since we went on a package deal).
