Crossland did a quality job for us. They cared about their work and did not do cheap finishes. For example, the baseboards they put in are not those cheap, short, thin ones but some very large ones. In fact, before installing them they checked on what the baseboards were in the rest of the house. We've gotten lots of compliments on the work. The highest compliment is that they stand behind their work. About 3 years after the work was done, we were getting a streak on our copper roof. The streak itself didn't bother me (I assumed it was coming from where they was a tiny gap in the siding trim) but I wanted to make sure there was no structural issue. Despite us having asked about and turned down an extended warranty, Crossland came out to check out the problem (which wasn't a problem). This was 3 years later!!! I can't stress enough how impressed I was, how much it shows Crossland's commitment. Now, we had two sets of issues. The first was the cost of "extras". The brother, Brian, who really owns the company was not on this job much as he was trying to finish something else up, which wasn't a problem for us. But it meant that Ray, Brian's brother, was not very clear about extras. There were things added on as "extras" that we had discussed with Ray and he never told us that they would be extras. We had even negotiated a change in the contract to require any extras costing money to have to be done in writing. We didn't fight any of the extras we had in writing, even if the price seemed higher than it should have been. It was just the extras we didn't know would be extras. But basically, the problem was that Brian wasn't here and thus it wasn't made clear to us what was extra and what wasn't. This was not a terrible issue and we did get it resolved satisfactorily. We did have one major issue. Crossland is clearly a quality outfit but they unfortunately were taken in by a guy holding himself out to have been a general contractor up in the Poconos and knowing his stuff. However, he didn't, and basically caused brick dust to get all in our house when cutting the brick wall between the existing family room and the addition to the family room. This guy's insurance covered the clean up, but it was a pain. Although this was a real pain, I think Crossland was taken in by this guy, and I don't hold it against them. Given this major headache (clean up took days, we had to be out of our house for days, etc), this is why I rated the overall experience as a B. Without this, I would have definitely given Crossland an A. I liked Crossland so much that when this guy's insurance told me that they were going to try to make Crossland's insurance cover the clean up instead, that I called and warned Brian so he could be prepared.
