I haven?t yet made a decision if I would use their services for the repair work. The service call for fixing the pipe was $85. The estimate for the additional work in the bathrooms in total was about $5000. They were very professional and friendly when they came to my house to get the work done. The price seemed fair too. There were basically two water problems. One of them was related to the bathroom and another one was related to something else. I had 6 contractors out here and nobody could figure out the problem. However, the plumber from Paramount Plumbing figured it out in 2 minutes and it wasn?t even something that they do. So I was very pleased with them. They were fair and knowledgeable. They gave me an estimate for the additional work when they came to do the work and it took a really long time. It took about 3 weeks to get the estimate and I kept calling them. They used to say that they would send it on a particular day and I never used to receive it on that day. I had to call them again and that kept happening. So I wasn?t pleased with that, but I was happy with the work that they did.
Description of Work: Paramount Plumbing fixed some leaks in a bathroom for me about a month ago. I also had them give me an estimate for some other repairs.

We had low water pressure in the house and even though the water company came out and told us it was OK, I wanted a plumber to give me a second opinion. Paramount came out and evaluated everything, coming to the same conclusion as Aqua, but also telling me what my options were without making a hard sell.

On the July 4th holiday weekend we woke up to find an inch of water in the basement. We determined it was the water heater which had obviously rusted out. Although it was a Sunday morning of a holiday weekend, we received an immediate response to our call. After Paramount determined that the supply houses would not be open, we set an appointment for the next work day. The two repairman arrived on time and put on shoe covers so they wouldn't track dirt into the house. After looking at our unit they described our options in full and were quite knowledgeable about the choices and positives and negatives with each. They also were prepared to outline the costs in full, including labor, at that time. We chose the tankless water heater and they returned to install on the date and time designated. Our bill was exactly what they said it would be. We were very happy with the whole process. Then, the Sunday after it was installed, we heard some loud banging noises as the tank turned on and ran...nothing like what it should be. We called and received an immediate appointment the next day. The serviceman again arrived on time and although the noises had disappeared by then he carefully checked everything out. He could find nothing and speculated it may have been air in the lines creating the problem. The unit has been quiet and working well ever since. There was no charge for this follow up service, even though there was nothing apparently wrong. The repairmen provided nothing but positive customer service throughout the process. I was happy to have had an experience with Paramount because several days later our shower faucet wouldn't completely turn off. We called them again and our experience was just as positive with that repair as it was with the water heater. We will definitely use this company again.

Hiring Tom was a great experience. I saw that Paramount was highly rated on Angie's List and called them when our water heater broke down. It happened 6 days before my son was born, so when I called, I explained to Tom that we urgently needed a working water heater, as my wife was expecting very soon. He quickly informed me of options (either standard heater as I had or a new high-efficiency heat pump water heater from GE). He then e-mailed me with helpful links to info on both options, as well as info around a $300 rebate being offered by PECO for the GE product. I decided on the GE heater within a couple of hours of first calling Tom, which was Wednesday, and he then had the water heater installed 2 days later on Friday morning. The guys installed the new heater and removed the old, worked quickly, and were very tidy and friendly. Overall, Paramount really stepped in and saved the day in our house, so will definitely hire them again and recommend to neighbors.

We love Paramount and have used them a lot over the past two years. They've always gone above and beyond. They are always prompt, courteous neat and a pleasure to have around. Communication with us and among the team was excellent. The fixtures we picked were unusual and new to them, but they we're able to install them and make them work, no problem. Last year they installed a Geothermal heating system and we had the same experience. There was great coordination and communication among the team of well digger, electrician and plumber.
Description of Work: We had two bathroom renovations done by Paramount Plumbing's team over the past several months. We hired their recommendations for a carpenter, plumber, electrician and painter. They worked together as a team and coordinated the entire renovation. One was a large 2 room master bath with high end, state of the art fixtures. The other was a small basement bathroom.

The plumbing seems to be very professional and very well done. However, materials that were stated on the estimate that would be used were not - copper was replaced with pex during the installation of the rough-in plumbing even though the estimate stated copper would be installed. They also installed under floor radiant heat in the kitchen and two small bathrooms. The heat in this house is baseboard hot water. It seems to me this company has no business saying they can do under floor radiant heat. I had issues with it's functionality. When I called to explain the situation I was immediately asked if I had sent in my final payment and given some pretty lame things that I could do to fix the functionality. At no time did anyone from this company even offer to come out and check the issues with the heat. I had an HVAC professional look at the radiant installation and several issues were found. The major issue with the heat the HVAC guy was able to fix in a few seconds. Apparently, a valve was left in the full open position but should have been closed. Closing this valve improved the functioning of the radiant heat dramatically. There were, however, other issues that needed correcting. Also, on the estimate it was stated that foil backed insulation would be installed over the radiant pex tubing. However, paper backed R-13 fiberglass insulation was installed. Since this company did not make a move to fix the issues, they used cheaper materials than stated and I had to consult with a heating contractor, I sent my last payment minus $1,000.00 with a detailed explanation as to why. I had gotten an estimate of what it would take to fix the radiant heat; that estimate was about $1,000.00. I was met with extreme nastiness from the business owner and legal action threats. It was unbelievable and I don't know how these folks stay in business. I would recommend that you not let these folks touch your heater. I won't hire them for anything.
Description of Work: Removed old plumbing lines for one bathroom as well as half the outgoing soil pipe. Rerouted kitchen drain and all bathroom drain lines to the new soil pipe. Installed rough in plumbing in the bathroom. The bathroom had been previously been gutted and new walls and floors installed before plumbing work began. Installed under floor radiant heat in bathrooms and kitchen. This is a ranch house and all plumbing is very accessible.

We agree with some of what this member says and have a logical explanation for everything else. When she called she was asked if she had sent the payment. That is because we had not heard a word from her for over a month since giving her the final bill. We called, emailed and sent letters- no communication came from her. Her first communication with us was to tell us everything was wrong and she HAD it fixed and she was not paying a portion of the bill. Without her giving us any type of communication that she was not pleased, how were we A) supposed to know she was not pleased and B) fix a problem we did not know existed? Short of pounding on her door we did all we could to maintain communication. Had she communicated with us it would have been made right for no charge! As of this writing, we have 47 reports on Angies list. 43 are A’s . Think about it.

Great experience overall. Tom in the office is great and was flexible when I needed to change the schedule. Jay was the plumber who came to take care of our job. He was great as well. Explained everything he was going to do and gave us a price before the work started. He visually inspected all of the plumbing throughout the house without us even asking to do that for us. I would definitely use Paramount Plumbing again in the future.

Joined Angie's List the next day and looked at the reports for several area plumbing companies. I was very impressed with the large number of A-rated reports for Paramount. Even though several other Angie's List plumbers could have responded sooner, I decided to go with Paramount and I am VERY glad that I did. Tom gave me a complete explanation of their services, products and service policies and charges. We scheduled the first available service appointment for 12/30 Bob the technician came out on 12/30 and immediately gave another thorough explanation of their services and how he would do an inspection and give me an estimate before any work would be done. He quickly realized that a drain pipe had come loose because it was never glued by the original plumber years ago. He quickly fixed the problem by securing all of the under sink pipes and then made sure that the basement pipes were in prime shape. While in the basement, I had him inspect our hot water tank and he noticed that the overflow chamber was installed incorrectly and created an explosion risk. He then did a full examination of the water heater and with my OK he replaced and secured a new overflow tank in proper manner. He then inspected and made suggestions for fixes to several other problems we have been having with two toilets in the house. At all times, Bob was VERY professional and "went the extra mile" to give me multiple suggestions regarding the issues that I asked him to inspect. The work performed was top-notch and I feel that I received great value for my money. In the coming weeks, I plan to have Paramount come back to replace our Master Bath toilet, repair the flush mechanism in the Guest Bath and reposition a waste pipe in the basement. In the Spring, I plan to contract with them for a new Tankless Hot Water System. It was really a pleasure and a great value to work with such an excellent service provider. This one experience made joining Angie's List worth several times the price.

Called Paramount and they came out and gave me an estimate on a propane hot water. They suggested that I go with a tankless water heater, but I chose not to. I also had them replace bath tub faucets. I did think that they are alittle pricey, but for the quality of work and excellent response time (they accomodated me and did it on my day off), I chose to go with them. They were very nice and explained things to me thoroughly. I had them do plumbing work for me in the past and was pleased with it.

Response from Paramount Plumbing, Heating & Air Conditioning
In response to the member’s claims, let me state from the outset Paramount Plumbing has faxed 16 pages of documents to Angie's List to dispute her false claims. These documents include SIGNED contracts, change orders, and other letters and notes FROM the member that completely contradict the claims she has made against us. This work was completed 3 years ago. It is obvious the member does not remember the details. IF anyone desires copies of these documents, I will fax them to you. We have nothing to hide. Overview: We were hired to basically gut the plumbing and replace with new plus add some gas lines and hose bibs. The entire row house was being refurbished to be used as a college dorm. At that time, the member was not at all familiar with how a large construction job is conducted. There was no general contractor, no dumpster, and no porta poty. Mitzi signed contracts and change orders for all work that was completed. Here is the other side of the story that the member conveniently forgot. Even though the member signed contracts we had to hire a lawyer to collect our money. There was demolition and wall construction that was to be done by others (not us) that our contracts clearly spelled out. Yet it was not done by others. Paramount Plumbing did it in order to keep the job moving. We did this with not even a thank you or getting paid for it. Instead of pulling the old toilet then setting the new toilet when the job is complete, Paramount Plumbing had to make 2 additional trips to install a toilet while the work was in process, then return to pull the toilet so the new floor could be laid. We did all of this at no charge because it never occurred to the member that workman/woman may have to urinate or defecate over the course of weeks. We went above and beyond what we were hired to do. I now will address her complaint point by point Drilling holes in joists: Where the member wanted the shower placed, made it necessary to drill some joists. She was told that. After work had started, and she saw some joists drilled she then stated she did not want any more drilled. At that point we were able to divert the pipes to accommodate said request. A structural engineer and the Borough code officer were brought in to examine the joists. Both agreed there was no problem. Did not remove waste after completion: The entire house was being gutted. A dumpster was required. The member, acting as the GC, failed to realize this until there was a 4 foot pile of trash in the back yard consisting of drywall, flooring and all the other associated trash that is created when one guts a home. Drywall and flooring trash is not the responsibility of the plumber. We removed the old water heater, plumbing fixtures and pipes. The member even states in her complaint that “removed copper pipes.” Well which is it did we clean up or not? Shower walls began buckling : Before the job was completed the walls were braced. This is the first we are hearing about buckling walls. Shower Leaks 3 years later: We do not know if it leaked 3 years after it was installed because we were not allowed back into the house. It is true that when she called us (3 years after the completion date) we gave her an appointment to look at the leak 6 weeks later. We did not want to work with her anymore! She said since the college was not in session she was fine waiting. On the day of the appointment she was not there. She did not return phone calls. We warranty our workmanship for 2 years. The system was air tested and inspected by the borough code officer. In addition to the standard code inspection forms, we had the code officer sign a statement that said all the plumbing is installed correctly and to code. We had him sign this because we knew the member would be a problem down the road. Credit for “faucet”: First off, it was not a faucet but a sink. Secondly she agreed that we would purchase and install said sink. Said sink was a special order/ nonreturnable sink. Just because she found a cheap sink somewhere AFTER she agreed to a different sink, are we supposed to absorb the cost? Thirdly I have a note written in her handwriting that says she does not want to use the original sink and she can use it somewhere else. We hand delivered the original to her primary residence. They removed my pipes: the member states in her complaint that “they removed my copper pipes.” As plumbers, yes, we do remove old pipes from homes. It is called cleaning up and it is a standard practice in the industry. Before any work began she did ask us if we were going to remove the copper pipes from the work site. We told her yes. However, AFTER we removed the old copper pipes the member then stated she wanted the copper to take it to the scrap yard. We returned the scrap copper. Summary, 2 % of the people cannot be satisfied. The member is one of those people. We have about 30 reviews on Angie’s List with near straight A ratings. You have to wonder who is telling the truth here. If anyone desires copies of aforementioned documents call or email. I will fax them to you. I will not scan and email them because I will not waste any more time on this.

Bob at Paramount was great. Even though this was just an estimate trip (thus the $59 service fee) he spent extended time going through our ancient piping systems and making recommendations. While he offered up services he didn't try and push me into doing work with them which i am thankful for the primary reason for the call was to make recommendations and give advice. He did just that and I would not hesitate to call him back when the time comes and its necessary.

it went extremely smoothly. the initial contact via phone was clear and straight forward about pricing and services. Time was scheduled and they called back on the appointed day to confirm and indicate the tech was on the way. The tech knew his business and determined the Sump Pump was completely burned out and replaced it within 1 hour. In addition he checked the AC condensate line to make sure it was up to code and checked all the plumbing fixtures in the home to make sure they were secure. It all worked out very well.

I called Paramount in the morning and they offered to come that afternoon, but we scheduled for the following day at my request. Serviceman arrived within the 1 hour time slot scheduled. He was one of the two partner owners. I'd had trouble with this faucet for a long time so was glad to agree on replacing it instead of attempting a repair. After examining the access area, he showed me his recommended single handle Moen faucet. He quoted the price which he said was guaranteed regardless on any issues. Since it was replacing a three-handle faucet, it required a back plate which added about $80(included in the a amount above). He was very careful to cover and protect the kitchen access area and bathroom to avoid any damage. Installation took a longer than he expected but the quoted price was held. The faucet looks good and we do prefer the single handle operation. I m looking forward to never having a problem with this faucet again.

It took the technician no more than 5 minutes to fix the garbage disposal, and so he didn't even charge me for that. The technician also suggested that he use a snake to clean the sinks, rather than bring in the more expensive machine, thus saving me money. He wrote up the paperwork, I also bought a bottle of biomaid, an FDA-approved all-natural drain cleaner that's used preemptively to stop clogs before they happen.
Description of Work: I've used this company before, so when I needed my garbage disposal fixed as well as 2 slow drains fixed, I called them again. They agreed to come the following day and gave me a 2-hour window. they were on time, professional, friendly and did exactly what needed to be done— cleared the garage disposal in less than 5 minutes, and snaked the drains in the bathtub and sink.

Service guy was punctual, friendly and listened to my description of what had happened. He proceeded to remove the toilet and auger the sewer line, and seemingly went 30-40ft with no 'apparent' luck in removing the 'clog'. He also tried auguring from the opposite end, via a vent we have in the yard, but had no luck with that either. At this point, and after trying for around 1.5 hours, he determined either he would need to bring in a bigger machine, or, that we had a break in the sewer line and there was little he could do (except replacement). Of course, to use the bigger machine there would be an extra charge.........but with no guarantees of greater success, I told him that I was not willing to pay $700-$800 for something that might not make any difference. The reason I write the above is that I then called a dedicated line cleaning/repair company (my original gut instinct -- Yes, I know, I have learned my lesson, but I was originally going to ask Paramount to quote me for some additional work so I hoped to kill two birds with one stone if you know what I mean!). This other company came out immediately, charged me half the price at only $200, guaranteed they would not leave until the problem was resolved or I would pay nothing because in his words "they had done nothing except waste some time" and then promptly cleaned the line within half an hour, saying that all it was was ice that had formed in the outside sewer pipes that just needed to be augered while a trickle of hot water (I did not see this done the first time) was allowed to run into the pipe and break any remaining ice up! Plus he did this with the same size machine as Paramount - apparently there was no need for a larger machine?! I called Paramount's office manager the following morning to report the news, and wondering if they would offer some discount/refund (I would not have expected the whole amount - I guess in this economy I was just hoping for a token amount you know?.......) but sadly I guess I will have to write off this $440 and remember in future to go with your gut.................
Description of Work: Attempted to clear apparent 'blockage' in sewer line.

I hired Paramount to install a toilet that would actually work, and not clog all the time (I really hate this "low-flow" nonsense). I had an idea of what I wanted, but after discussing with Paramount, I decided to go with their alternative. The new toilet was installed with no problem. While the plumber was there, he said they usually do a walk around for new customers to make sure there are no other issues. The plumber commented that he thought my water pressure seemed very high, and that this could cause pipe bursts and void warranties on some plumbing related fixtures. I had actually heard about this on the radio, a few weeks earlier, so I knew he wasn't blowing smoke. When he went to use my hose bib to actually measure the pressure, he discovered that I had left a faucet with a hose on, and it had frozen and cracked. When he went to access the pipe, it turned out the builder had sandwiched the pipe between 3 2 x 6s, and it would be more complicated than he thought. Because this was originally planned for a toilet install, he scheduled a time to come back the next day. When he came back, he fixed the faucet, and installed an access panel and shut off valve. He also installed the pressure reduction valve and thermal expansion bladder. I had also heard about the reason for thermal expansion bladders on the radio show, and thought it was a good idea. I asked him to fix another toilet that was not flushing properly. He noted that it just needed a simple adjustment, and fixed it with no additional charge. The new shutoff valve he installed appeared to have a slight leak after he left. I called the office, and he was on the phone with me within minutes. He had me dry it, and turn it off, to see if it still, leaked. It did, but it was very slight. He came back first thing the next morning, and determined that the packing nut had loosened slightly when he installed it. He tightened it, and it now worked perfectly. The plumber was quite professional, and I believe spotted potential big problems, and took care of them for me. They had great communication and responsiveness.

Remember to be specific on the contract. There was some confusion on my part as to the install of the shower door. I offered and removed the old shower door and frame and expected the install of the new shower door to have been included in the remodel. It was not. Other than having to pay extra for this service, I was very pleased with the entire job. Bob and his crew were great to deal with.
Description of Work: Removal of old bathroom vanity and fixtures, and old tile in shower. Installed customer purchased vanity, fixtures, shower door and tile.
