Was Ok. Inspection/estimation was quick. However there was confusion initially when the person to fix did not show up as promised and had to follow up few times.

I decided not to use their services.  Although they were lowest in price, I was not confident their installation would be the best.  For replacement windows, I considered installation is very important.  I would consider using this company for a different service.

Due to an extended vacation period for my family, and to fit with Martini's schedule, the roof work was done in November of 2011 and the siding and gutters in March of 2012.    On the day that the roof work was done, the crew arrived without the sheathing underlay.  Gary Martini thought that the work would consist only of adding a new layer of shingle.  After referring to my specification, Gary went to Home Depot and got the neccessary sheathing.  The installation crew were skilled and quick.  The job looks good and (so far) does not leak.  Both Gary and his salesman were on site for the 1 day duration of the work.  However the incident of the sheathing told me that I had better be available all the time that the siding/gutter work was to be done.    The siding crew arrived on12 March and spent the week removing/replacing the siding and gutters.  Had I not been on site the entire time, some of the work would not have been done and some would have been done improperly.  Fortunately, the crew was experienced and were willing to follow instructions so that the work was completed to my satisfaction.  Some of the items that needed attention were :-1.    I pointed out that the as the age of the house was app. 50 years, the existing sheathing was gypboard not plywood or OSB, and that therefore the new siding must be nailed into the studs (not just randomly ).  The crew then made sure by marking the gypboard before nailing.2.    The garage door frames would not have been capped had I not pointed out that "all wood was to be covered" as per my specifications.3.    The plastic soffit at the front of the house had to span 4 ft, and I requested that an intermediate nailing strip be installed to avoid sagging from age/heat.  This was done.4.   There were some minor issues with trim (cosmetic) that I pointed out and were quickly corrected.5.    Two of the gutters were hung incorrectly, and had to be rehung.6.    Due to reworking of the gutter geometry, there was insufficient shingle overhang and rainwater ran down between the gutter and fascia.  this was corrected on a return trip by extending the shingle drip edge on the garage and also placing flashing under the roof drip edge to direct the rainwater into the gutter.7.    Some touch-up paint was required on siding at the door (due to some scraping of the surface during installation).8.    The hangers for the gutters were to be at 30 inch spacing, I requested 24 inch spacing for proper strength.  This was done.9.    There is currently a loose drip edge that needs to be re-nailed.  I left an email with Gary more than a month ago, but no response.  I will do this minor bit of work myself as it only entails a few minutes on a stepladder.    Overall, my impression is that the crews were well trained and cooperative, and wanted to do the best job, and it does look good.  I believe that a daily inspection by Gary or a QC type guy would have (hopefully) caught the same problems that I did.    I am fully aware that the kind of "old world" craftmanship no longer exists.  To make adequate profit, most of this type of work today is time based, and with competition on pricing, contractors are pressed to perform up to a standard and down to a price.  Not many can do it, or do it consistantly.    I would recommend G P Martini again, with caveats about supervision.

The work was good, if perhaps a bit expensive. Our problem was on scheduling. We were told (in person, but didn't get in writing) that the job would be done by a certain date, which we needed in order to get some other work done. Rain delayed the project, which we understood. But we could not get anyone to return our calls asking when the job would be done. It finally was finished about 3 weeks late.

Overall everything went fine. I had a shingle fall off partially after couple days the work was completed. I called the company and the person came over and fixed it. They said it has life time warranty so we will see how things go.

Overall, they did an excellent job.  Waited several months to for them to come and repair the siding.  Did not call ahead the day they showed up.  Would have like more advanced notice.

The overall service was good and I would not hesitate recommending Martini to other members.
We did have an issue that would have been a major problem, but the manner in which it was handled speaks volumes about the company and its owner. The issue we had was a major one at first, but resolved well.
In short, the roof color that was installed was not the color we had requested. Roof shingles are hard to tell what color they really are from the swatches that you are offered. We took the salesperson to a house with the exact roof kind we wanted. He said he would match it, but he didn't.The owner of the company came out and worked out a resolution with us that is to our satisfaction. They seem to have gone above and beyond in resolving this potentially major issue. I was impressed.

Initially workers caused quite a mess, they nailed their saw horses into existing trees in the garden and trampled over a lot of landscaping.  This was rapidly corrected when we complained; however, none of the destroyed plants were replaced.  Workers never used drop cloths when painting which casued a lot of mess on the patio.  Initial work was completed in a 3-week window but it then took another 4 months after paying in full to complete the punch list items.  Quality of the work was very good and eventually Martini did everything they agreed to do.
Response from GP Martini Roofing Co

"We are troubled that this homeowner was less that 100% satisfied with our process. The work at their home is beautiful and we believe that they agree with this by the A rating for quality. While we accept that on the first day at their home, some sloppiness in care for ladscaping did occur, no trees or shrubs were damaged or we certainly would have replaced them. A few paint drops did land on a landscape stone but were completely removed a day later. There was indeed a delay in replacing one wall that the homeowner deemed unsatisfactory. It is important to note, that this replacement was done as an accomodation as the original work was complete and correct. We wanted the homeowner to be completely satisfied, so agreed to replace this area. It simply wasn't replaced as rapidly as they would have liked. Nevertheless, it was replaced. We have learned that some homeowners are more difficult to make completely happy than others, but certainly feel obligated to make ALL of our customers feel that they received the high quality of work and service that they expect from us. We are pleased that this particular homeowner was ultimately satisfied and regret that the project did not go as they would have liked."

Things started out good. I called to have someone come out and look at what needed to be done. They sent someone very quickly. The man who came was on time and very polite. He told me that he would email me with an estimate to review. This is when things started to go down hill. I never received the email. I had to call and ask for my estimate.

Calling once, no problem.

I got a return call and my husband and I decided to go with this company. We were told that we would be called to get on the schedule. That call never came! I had to call FOUR times to be told FOUR  times that someone would call me back to get me on the schedule. Apparently, there is only one person in the office who is able to schedule customers or to even look at the schedule to let someone know when or if they are even scheduled. Very unprofessional. This all happened back in August and beginning of September. I still have heard nothing. Needless to say I have gone with another company.
Response from GP Martini Roofing Co

"We spoke to the member who's name is attached to this posting. It seems that she did not post it, but rather her daughter did on her account. We then spoke to her daughter. While her claim that we were not responsive to her may be valid, our salesman claims that in fact he did follow up with voice mails and never heard back from her. As the owner of GP Martini Roofing, I feel that it is noteworthy that folks who seem to be most unhappy with us, on Angie's List, tend to be folks for whom we did no work and never billed. Those who have worked with us may have observations, but appear to be very happy with our quality and value. As always, we strive to make everyone who contacts us 100% happy and continue to work to improve our communication with all kinds of customers with all kinds of customer expectations."

Overall the job went fantastic - Gary Martini and his team were wonderful to work with.  My home was sevely damaged from a winter ice storm - Gary and his crew worked with both my insurance company and my mortgage company and ensured all of the details were addressed.
When the work got under way the crew was awesome despite it being 100 plus degrees over the two week work schedule.  Always polite and on time.
The guys did so many little extras:
When they were fixing the deck that attaches to my home they took the time to add extra insulation under the door
When they replaced the siding they added insulation around my windows
When the deck was completed they carried all of my patio furniture and BBQ grill back up on it.
Every lunch break they played frisbee with my dogs
They disposed of a lot of construction materials and yard debris left over from the winter storm

Every day the construction foreman would give me the run down on what was going to be done and when they left at the end of the day they completed every task they said they were going to do.

GP Martini should never be lumped in with other contractors - they say what they are going to do, provide written pricing and they do the work with exceptional attention to detail for the price they provide.  It was refreshing to have everyone show up on time and not have any surprises.  Kudos for a job that exceeds expectations!

I was quite impressed with their evaluation of our roof replacement and insulation needs during the sales call.
They kept every appointment and completed a large roof installation in one day.
About a dozen workers were here all day, and many folks came and went, delivering and removing equipment and supplies throughout the day.  There was no damage to any bushes, plants, garden, etc.
The roof looks beautiful.
My only disappointment was that two weeks after the work, I'm still finding a nail here and there in the driveway and on the deck.

They were able to diagnose issue over the phone. Another contractor recommended replacing the ridge vent but GP Martini said there was no need since my roof was getting ready to be replaced soon and it should last another year or two.  On time and work well done - No issues since.  Also I did not have to pay him right after -- in fact I had to call him to get a bill.  Highly recommended.

My roof was leaking and I needed it replaced, GP Martini never got back to me about the estimate or the work. I give people the benefit of the doubt, I thought that by now they would have at least called or emailed explaining that they had been busy or something and I could of told them I already had the work done but at least thanked them.
Response from GP Martini Roofing Co

"We have no record of contact from the member. We do not work in the city of Philadelphia, and by policy do tell callers this. If we indeed failed to return her call, it was an oversight and we regret it. We sincerely hope that her work was completed satisfactorily by others."
