He came and picked up the furniture and picked up the fabric. I had extra fabric to make pillows with and when he brought it back I asked him for the extra fabric he said there was no extra fabric which wasn't true. The fabric was over $50 a yard. He gave me a price of $600 on the head wood. When he brought it he told me it was going to be $750 because I had nail head to it which he told me I could have anything I wanted for $600. He had a sofa cover person who was supposed to come and I waited over an hour and a half and they never called. Finally, they called and said they were leaving New Jersey now. So I told them to forget it. His work was okay, but his attitude I didn't think was great. He was supposed to call me back about this fabric that he had. I did have more work for him to do, but I have called somebody else in the meantime because I wouldn't deal with him again. He doesn't have any ratings on your list. I looked him up after I started to use him. The work wasn't bad. It is just the attitude and the fact that I didn't get my fabric back. He doesn't give any prices in writing and then he comes and tells us it is different price. I had everything written down so it was hard for him to dispute it. His prices were fair except that he tried to charge me more for something. I negotiated with him and I told him that I would never do business with him again. It wasn't worth it for me to hassle with something like that. I just wanted him to leave. I think I ended up paying probably $100 more than he had quoted me.
Response from Main Line Upholstering Co
"It is unfortunate, that Mrs. Ottaviano was not totally happy with our service. We did quiet a few pieces for her, and everything was okay with the quality of the work and the prices previously quoted....with the exception of the final item, the headboard because of the additional cost of the brass nail finish. The fact that there was no fabric left after the upholstering job was completed, was due to the fact the yardage provided by the customer was just enough to do the upholstering. In reference to the price difference on the final cost of the headboard, obviously it had to do with the addition of brass nails finished, not originally quoted. Written estimates are always provided when asked for. Estimates over the phone obviously are verbal , however when a customer asks to have it in writing , we gladly provide it. We have been in business since 1961, during all these years we have thousands and thousands of 100% satisfied repeat customers. We do recognize that it is impossible to satisfy everyone 100% of the time. All upholstering work is done in house all the time. Slipcover work we subcontract, and Mrs. Ottaviano was aware of that. Thus when the cutter failed to show up on time, she called me and I immediately try to get a hold of him to understand the delay. For over 54 years, Main Line Upholstering Co has built a reputation of excellence, quality and friendly service. We pride ourselves on the quality of work and attention to detail we provide to each job. We regret the negative experience that Mrs. Ottaviano had."

He is very nice and very good and he did some work for us before. When I moved here the movers wrecked two chairs of mine and the springs needed to be redone. He did it beautifully and the price was reasonable. He is very friendly, polite and professional. His work was perfect. When he says he would be there he is there. I don't know about the price and I think his price was reasonable. I was not surprised by the price.
