"Thank you and we appreciate your comments. Our mission when estimating is not to mislead, provide negative feedback for the work done from a prior contractor or to take advantage of any situation. We are in business to provide a fair price for the work that is necessary and to educate customers on how some repairs need to be done so that future problems do not occur even if we don't get the job. This has been an unusual spring for bad weather and many many repairs, some of which occurred in the winter which was also bad. We had gotten the original call on 5/19 & scheduled for 5/29. The detailed estimate and roof inspection was emailed on 6/9. There were (16) pictures sent via the estimators phone prior to the written estimate to show issues that were addressed in the roof inspection. Our estimator has 20+ years experience in this industry & he had found several issues with the roof in addition to the leak that he originally called us for. Some additional issues found were: tin flashings were reused and in poor condition, no Ice & Watershield underlayment over exposed wood, chimney flashing improperly done-not tucked into the mortar joints, lead vent pipe flashings not replaced - aluminum flashings installed over old, depressions in center of box gutters that was holding water, eave tube drains split and holes in bed of box gutters. There were additional issues to other portions of the roof as well. We felt that this roof was not installed properly & not sure how a roof inspector would have approved it in this condition. We do not use "scare" tactics when estimating just to put work on our schedule, we simply try to educate. There have been times that we have talked customers out of a new roof or an extensive repair because they were not necessary. This company has been providing this service for over 100 years with employees that have been here for over 30 years. We do not claim to know all the answers to every issue, but we will investigate. If there is an issue or problem that we can't solve, we do go to our suppliers for assistance or even ask other roofing companies how they would handle. We do not make a practice of just "putting a band aid" on a roof just for the customer to sell and make it someone else's problem, we won't even accept the job. We do appreciate all comments, good and bad. This helps us to grow and move forward."
"We appreciate your comments. At the time when this call came in, 5/19, we were approximately a week behind in scheduling which meant we had to contact customers that have already contacted us to reschedule. The month of May we had a tremendous amount of rain and storm damage which unfortunately changes a schedule. Towards the end of May some heavier rains came which caused major damage to homes in our area. Trees crushed homes and some roofs had blown open. We felt at this time these were most important to fix or at least tarp until we could complete the repair. We have always tried our best to communicate to customers but we apologize if some get missed or overlooked. We do make phone calls on a daily basis to keep customers informed or to check to see if they have been taken care of by another contractor. At times, we struggle to find the correct or right approach for each customer -1) to tell them we are behind, busy or booked for a time period, whatever this is, and can't give a schedule date (as we did in this case) or 2) schedule and have to reschedule due to weather. We pride ourselves with the service we have provided for the past 107 years to our customers and try to do our very best to accommodate each one. We do not want to make excuses for our actions but in speaking with other customers that are willing to wait they have been thankful that we answered the phone or actually returned their call. Again, in this instance we do apologize. It is comments like these that make you take a step back and refocus on how we conduct our business because it is the customers that have helped in our success."
