Where to begin? Closers, Inc was recommended to us, so we thought we could trust them. They were a company who had done this so many times and we were first-time home buyers. But every step of the way was difficult, at best, and downright frustrating, at worst. The last week of closing was hectic and it seemed that they just did not have it together. We were buying the home as co-owners, as my partner and I are not married. The woman I spoke with at Closers, Inc regularly made me feel as if I was not really a joint owner of the property as I was unemployed and my partner had work. She would regularly ask me who I was and left me off the paperwork a few times. Also, we were relocating into Pittsburgh from out of town and they would not be flexible with the closing time. We had bought our plane tickets weeks before and were coming in the day of closing due to work and other obligations. They said we had until 1 pm and that if we could not make it then we would have to reschedule for the next week! We had planned on being there at 10 am, but I asked if there was a problem with the flight, could they make an exception? They were adamantly against being flexible in anyway. I have heard since then that other closing companies will work with you when they know you are coming in from out of town. Then, two days before closing, Closers, Inc. called us and told us they received a call from our Finance Company and that our loan was not going through. We were in a complete panic. This is maybe the worst news you can hear two days out from your closing date. We were panicking and called our finance company to ask them why they hadn't gotten ahold of us first. Our finance company told us that this was absolutely not the case! We were not being dropped. There was just some extra paperwork that they had informed Closers Inc. would be necessary. I was shocked! How could this "miscommunication" have happened if everyone was acting in the most professional manner possible? And why wouldn't Closers, Inc. double check with our finance company before sending us into a panic?! There was one redeeming light to working with this company-- the lawyer at the closing. He was very helpful and reassuring and we wish we could have had most of our contact with him.
