However, while in the middle of doing several loads of laundry, the floor drain in our basement started to back up. Wasn't sewage but something else, watery tar-like substance. We caught it early, and called it in. Patty answered the phone on the first ring as I reported my 1st "claim". NOTE 1: Did you know that they coordinate notification with the City of Madison Sewer department? Yeah, they do. The City of Madison arrived in under 20 minutes to "clear the line on the street side" - but the line was clear--- after checking the line, the City Sewer and Water guys stopped by my house to provide information and a very HELPFUL brochure. NOTE 2: SLWofA also has a number of contractors (ready to help you) who are on call 24/7. So, Patty help us schedule with Rooter Rooter of Madison (our preferred choice and whom we initially called). Ryan already has called us back to check in and has scheduled his visit by 4:30 PM. One of his first questions was "do you have the Service Line Warranty of America?" YEAH!! (It was a little after 1 pm on Sunday 29-Nov...and we have been dealing with clean up for the last 1 hour). The good news: We caught it very early and stopped an in progress load of laundry from coming up through the floor of our basement. Really happy how this has all worked out thus far! Patty said she would follow-up with us mid-week to verify all is "back to normal" ...and she did! =)
They came exactly at the day and time they said they would and were in agreement that the sewer line needed to be replaced. The only problem was that my sewer line connected with the city line twelve feet under the ground, which would make it impossible to use a backhoe to reach it. If they had to do that, a large crane would have to be brought in to do the job which would result in me having to pay much more than was covered by my insurance plan. He suggested that the city be contacted to put in a new sewer tap only 2 feet underground. He got all the necessary permits and contacted the city to arrange for the work to be approved etc. I had very little to do myself. The insurance only covered up to $4,000, and if it had been necessary to dig down twelve feet, it would have cost me another 3 to 4 thousand over my insurance limit, which I could not afford. The contractor said his goal was to keep me within my insurance limit and he succeeded!
Service Line warranties also kept in close contact with me. First, to see if the contractor had called and had shown up as promised. They also called back to see if I was satisfied with the service I received. They were amazing all the way around- the contractor and the company itself. I paid zero dollars, and the sewer is working perfectly!
I would recommend Service Line Warranties to anyone. I cannot praise them enough. They are a top notch, and honest company
Within 30 minutes, the contractor called and got my information. They promised to send someone out promptly to assess the situation and turn off the water. They arrived in less than an hour and began leak detection prior to turning off the water. They then immediately began digging. In less than 3 hours, they found the leak and before the end of the day, they had it fixed. Their invoice was sent directly to the warranty company.
The warranty company followed up to confirm that I had been contacted, and then to confirm that the work had been completed. I am very satisfied.
We were happy with their work both times. We signed up with them year before last and renewed our contract at renewal time.
We have used them twice, once this year and once last year. Both times were on the weekend.
You call their 800 number, they call a plumber, the plumber calls you, lets you know when he will be there, shows up, does the
work and is out of there.
There was no out of pocket cost, as it was covered under the policy. I think it cost about $50.00 a year.
