Colin came to provide a free estimate for service to remove a couple of small dead trees.  He was extremely professional.  It was apparent during my interactions that this is a professional outfit.
Unfortunately, Colin make it pretty clear that they weren't interested in my small job (which is understandably a bit of a drive from their location), and quoted me more than 35% higher than an alternative tree service did.
I ended up hiring a different company for the job, who were equally as distant from my home, but quoted a considerably lower price.

After contacting Fairfield by email, Colin came out and gave me an estimate based on items I had told him I wanted done. I also asked for his professional opinion about the birch tree and if any other trees needed pruning. He said the first available date to do the work would be December 1, so I agreed and mailed back the signed contract with a check for 10 percent of the overall cost to hold the date. I then received a call from Colin last week with an unexpected opening the afternoon of Halloween. I was concerned because it was supposed to rain most of the day and with trick or treaters coming that evening, I didn't want my front steps to be muddy from the removal of the birch tree and boxwood bushes. I decided to have them come out on Halloween in spite of my concerns and I am glad I did. The crew did all of the tasks quickly and efficiently and the clean up was terrific. I felt their price was competitive and I liked being able to use email to contact Colin directly.

Soon after I first called, I got a very detailed estimate for removal of the dead ash tree as well as other pruning.  While no arborist is inexpensive, Fairfield gave me the most affordable of four estimates.  They also offer a 10% discount for Angie's List members.  The 4-man crew arrived exactly on time and did an excellent job.  They really hustled and worked great as a team.  One man climbed the tree to notch and saw off the branches, while the others worked with ropes to direct the fall of the branches, cut them apart and carry them to the chipper In the front of my house.  The ground crew also cut some of the small lower branches with a hand saw on an extension pole.  They had to remove a section of my fence to get the stump grinder in, but they replaced it perfectly.  I was very impressed by their skill and strength.  The crew cleaned everything up quite nicely before they left.  Overall, they did a great job and I would hire them again.

After waiting 4 weeks from another tree company saying that they would be out "this week", I called 6 additional companies, 3 of which never returned my call. Fairfield not only responded promptly with a quote, they met my need for quick service (need to keep the homeowners association happy...). There quote was higher than other estimates but still very reasonable considering the amount of time and effort it would take to do it myself. And the fact that they removed the tree within 2 business days of my approval, and left the area around it virtually untouched made it worth every penny. I would highly recommend them and use them again in the future.

Originally called to have a single tree branch that was hanging over a road taken down.  When they came for the quote, I was told upfront that there was a single charge for bringing out a bucket truck to do the job.  It was suggested to me that I could include some additional work that would be covered by the minimum charge.  After the initial quote we set up a time, they arrived as scheduled, and completed the work.  This is the third time we used this company, every time they have been prompt, professional, and fast.  Their rates have been higher than other quotes I received, but their timeliness and professionalism are part of the cost.  After suffering through experiences with landscaping people that just don't show up, or turn single day jobs into multiple days, the additional cost is well worth the cost.  This company tells you what they're going to do, when they're going to be there, how long it will take, and then they follow through.  A perfect example of "you get what you pay for".  I know what to expect from them, and so long as that doesn't change, they are the first call I make for any landscaping work.

I emailed Fairfield Tree Services on 6/23 (after normal business hours) through Angie's List. They responded on 6/24 with a message "Thanks for your inquiry, we'll have one of our salesman call you soon." It is now 6/28 and I have not heard back from them. I emailed another company the same time I emailed Fairfield. That "stump removal" company stopped by the night of the 24th after finishing that days work to let me know what they could do. The other company completed the job this morning.

I gave them a "C" because they did respond to the initial email, but never contacted me. I can't give an accurate grade on their work because they did not give me the opportunity.

Our experience with Fairfield went well. Fairfield came out promptly for a estimate. They took our design and came up with a great landscape design that met our needs. The only negative is that we have referred at least 3 people to use Fairfield and we have never gotten any discounts on future landscaping for our recommendations.

Fairfield did a very good job at reasonable cost. I have since called them back to do tree fertilization and lawn care. They are knowledgeable, explain what they are doing when they consult with you, and seem very honest and eager to do a good job.

We have solicited quotations from 6 contractors/professionals from Angie?s List and received proposals from five of the six.  All six visited our home and have viewed our backyard.  Providers were initially selected based upon previous Angie?s List A ratings in our area (15017).
Quality/safety is of upmost importance and was a major influence in our decision.  We needed to be comfortable with the
construction process, materials, design, professionalism of provider, etc. while ensuring we were getting a competitive cost.
 Scope of Work:
We appreciated everyone?s ideas on how to best layout our patio.  Although we were not finalized on dimensions, type of pavers/materials, landscaping and layout, below were the minimums we included as part of this project.  These are the things we will be moving forward with as part of the project at a minimum and how we analyzed the proposals of each professional.
Paver patio:
- Under our deck (approximate dimensions of 20? x 10?)
- Lawn area (20?x10? minimum)
- Paver walkway from driveway, around our deck steps to patio
- Fire Pit (could be round or square)
- Sitting wall around half of fire pit

The cost component was broken out into a cost per square foot to install the patio as each professional quoted different dimensions ranging from 500 ? 985 square feet. All pavers quoted were similar in price as we checked with the
manufacturer of the pavers (a majority of the providers quoted the same style and company of paver anyway)
The fire pit and sitting wall was added in as part of the total cost analysis as separate elements.

We like them, and we were very pleased with them. A couple of the bushes did not take, but we were pre-warned because it was very nasty winter. My brother had got the same thing done with his bushes, but he did not use Fairfield, he was telling that he had problems too. So, I would not say that people should not use their services because of that. They came over and talked to us all about it, and everything went fine. They were very nice,  and they did a very nice job. The trees are growing nicely. I think other rows of bushes too did not survive, so my husband just went out to get some stuff to replace them, but we are very happy with what they did for us. Actually, my husband was more involved in getting the work done than myself. I think they were fair, and they did a good job. They cleaned up all debris and did not leave the mess up.

These guys were great.  I could not believe how fast they were done.  And they cleaned everything.  They even tried to get as much mud as they could cleaned off the walk way.  It was raining almost the enter time they were there, so that was not an easy task.  All were extremely professional and courteous.  I would highly recommend this company to anyone and will be using them again to remove a tree at another property!!

I called several companies from the list for estimates. Mark, from Fairfield, called a few days after I sent my request by email to the company site. He showed up exactly when he said he would and we looked at what I wanted done. He gave me  the price, including the discount they provide for Angie's List members. I had no idea what to expect, but I was hoping it wouldn't be in the thousands of dollars. I would have liked to pay less, like anyone, but he told me the crew would be there for about seven hours, and the estimate was based on that.

The tree in the front was a large maple, with a lot of dead branches and several large limbs leaning toward the house and garage. I wanted to get it cleaned up and made safe, as it was causing me a lot of clean up and I worried about parts of it coming down in high wind or heavy snow. After waiting a few weeks for the snow on the ground to melt off, the crew showed up right on time on a Saturday morning. They removed the dangerous and dead limbs, and then limbed the tree up to leave  a nice canopy. I was concerned that they might have taken too much out, but Mark explained that on  an old tree that has never been pruned, that is the procedure. Also, they removed the broken trunk off of the tree in the back, which was leaning over my deck, pretty quickly.

After looking at the work for a few days, I called Mark back to make sure that the tree would re grow some of the lower branches and fill back in over time, as it provides a lot of shade for the house. He called me back right away, and even stopped the next day and assured me that in a year or two, that I would never know that they were there, while the tree was no longer any danger to the house. They made a small hole in the blacktop driveway, which they said they will come back to fix when the weather breaks. I will post when they do.

All in all, they were there about six hours, very professional, and cleaned everything up very well. If you want to have this done, I certainly recommend them. Just one more thing, after a hard prune your tree will look VERY different, so be ready and give it time to fill back in.

We purchased the coupon, the rep came out to give us a quote. Upon so doing he explained that there was a transportation fee involved. This fee could be waived or reduced if our neighbor used the service also. The rep looked at their yard and agreed to give them a quote also. The neighbor didn't like the quote that was offered, so at that point the $250 transport fee was back in play. The fee on top of the estimate was just going to be too much, so we ended up not using the service.
