Called the shop and the owner answered. Explained my situation over the phone and was advised to bring the vehicle in the following Monday - it would be checked out at no cost. Dropped off the vehicle after hours and received a phone call from the owner later on Monday explaining that they had found the problem, could fix it the next day. Later the next day received a phone call that repairs were done. Picked up the car and it drives well. Not sure I could ask for more.
So the rest of the story - prior to taking it to Emory I had taken the car to the dealer. They quoted a new transmission replacement for a range of $3300 to $5500. Emory troubleshot the car and determined the transmission was fine - the front wheel bearings were the issue. $550 later we are good to go.

I selected Emory to rebuild my transmission in my 2002 rodeo. Before, during and after the repair they kept me well informed and treated me with their brand of customer service that is usually only found back in the 60's when keeping customers satisfied was the rule and not the exception.
What really made them shine was the events of 7/10. At 11 am I was 4 hours from home and suddenly my newly rebuilt transmission died. I could not move my car. I called emory. Within 10 mins they had a tow truck on its way to me and had lined up a transmission repair shop just a few miles from my location to take a look at my car. The problem was resolved and I was back on the road by 2:30. This includes the towing time. The problem had nothing to do with the work that emory had done.
Emory paid for my towing, arranged all the the work with a remote repair shop and covered all the costs no questions asked. During all of this they kept in almost constant touch with me. Defective parts happen. What sets a company apart is not just how well they do the original work but how well they handle a problem after the work is done.
I cant recall the last time I was so impressed by a provider of services.. I highly recommend Emory.

Each time I have taken a vehicle to Emory has been hassle-free. I talk to the owner, Ed Murphy, and let him know what I want done and how I want it done. I have never been disappointed.

Very proffesional group. I had done a lot of research on the transmission ( a Volvo car) and common issues with some components. They identified it and di waht I understand many places wont do - rebuild the component part.

At first they could find nothing Not satisfied that there was no problem, we left it there for further investigation. (This was a matter of a couple of months.) They eventually disassembled and cleaned the parking brake mechanism, and apparently that was the problem. They could have told us anything, charged us for a new transmission, etc., but they were honest. That was appreciated.

I was told I needed a new transmission by another garage. A full service and $300 later my car was running fine. A squirrel had chewed a cable. They saved me $1,500 and they are complete professionals.

The whole experience was really good. It took a little longer than expected, due to a delay in parts shipment, which was out Emory's control. Emory called me with an update. The person i spoke to said i would hear from them again when the car was done - which was completely true. At a later time I called for a status and received prompt and accurate information. My only suggestion for improvement would be that when the parts shipment was delayed, even though they said they would not call with a status, it would have been nice if they would have, just to let me know the estimated date of completion had changed. We received a warranty on the rebuilt transmission, which no other company in the area, including the GM dealerships, would give. All-in-all, this was one of the best experiences i've ever had with an automobile repair company. It's been several months and the car is running great and i have no reason to expect that it won't continue to do so.

First time I used them - transmission was using fluid and slipping. I took car in and when I called they told me it was just a hose and fitting. They could have told me anything up to a full replacement. Since then they have had all my business. Most expensive - full transmission replacement. Vehicle was ready on time, at promised price.
