King'S Slate Roof Repair

I was having problems finding a reputable company that provided slate roof repair.  I was referred by Old World Slate (A+ on Angie's List) who worked out of Maryland to King's Roof Repair. 
David King, the owner, came and checked out the roof.  He knew immediatelly what kind of slate I had and approximately what I needed done.  He suggested that I get new spouting as well (mine was taken out by the last ice storm) and I asked for two separate prices  - one for the roof repairs and one for the spouting.  He also suggested a minor fix to my rubber roof. 
He worked up an estimate while he was there and told me he would send one in the mail for final review.  I thought I could get some of the original slate from the house so he would just have to do the repairs.I asked him if 1/3 up front and 1/3 when he started and then 1/3 when he completed the work was ok.  He told me that the work would only take one day and I could pay him when he was done and I was satisfied with the job.
The one thing I did not do was obtain three estimates.  I know I should have but I could not find roofers who did repairs on slate roofs.The estimate came in the mail.  I returned it for only the slate roof repairs and the repair to the rubber roof. 
David called to make sure the date and time suited me.  Two young men came to do the work.  They were friendly, very early/on-time, knew what they had to do and allowed me to watch so I could learn as well.  They were finished with repairing the slate and rubber roof in three hours. 
I was very satisfied with the work. I would highly recommend them.  I would, however, try harder to get three estimates so that I could judge better the cost of labor.
