Made an agreement, and signed on with them on October 20, 2020. Mike Owens came out to evaluate, gave me information on what will take place with the repairs. Never heard from them again! I have called numerous times and spoke to Joyce at the office, left messages for Mike Owens, nothing in return. It is now, May 21, 2021. Nothing but leak spots, mold smell, but no work done. Don't know what the next step to take is. I guess the Better Business Beaurea.

The adjuster, Mike promptly was out to see damage. After initiating the claim, that was it from him. No call backs, no text messages. Lack of communication. I had to call the office, his cell phone multiple times and no response. It would have been easier if I had contacted my insurance company and worked directly with them. I will never use this company again nor would I recommend them to anyone else.

Mr. Amato of summit public adjusters was recommended to me by a plumber to handle my claim with allstate for a broken sewer line (That should have been a sign to avoid him), but I trusted the plumber.
Mr Amato proceeded to sell me like a used car salesman, bashing allstate, saying they would deny me if I go alone. He went on to say "we'll get your deductible back" , "you'll have dinner on me after this". All of which I knew was BS. I tell him I just want to pay my deductible, their fee and have everything else covered. But I'm unsure so I say I think I have to wait. When I hesitated he pulled out the big one. "I'll negotiate the fee after the settlement, it will be 'up to 25%' but please don't take advantage of me, others have only paid 2% when I've done this" then he wrote the new terms on the contract, initialed it, I initialed it, he drew a big heart around it and again asked that I don't take advantage of him. What a sucker I was. I really believed the guy would try to help me out, to actually discuss the fee after if the settlement did not come in as expected and I would have a little downside protection. Of course the settlement before deductible didn't even cover the plumbing let alone the rehab of the rooms destroyed by the repair. So I have the deductible, fee to adjuster and another $2K out of pocket. I never would push for 2 % or 5 or 15 even and didn't, his firm handled their end and the adjuster Jim, was great and honest. Jim actually told it like it was. So they deserve to get paid.
So when it looks like its is all over and the claim is closed I ask if we could negotiate a lower fee, like he said and wrote and initialed, figuring I might get 5% back, a couple hundred. Of course Mr. Amato comes up small, says "you need to change insurance companies, at too wait, maybe we'll get more, and the fee is 25%" I say I'll bring the checks down to the office, and he says" oh no, just mail them, no need to come to the office" why? he can't face me? We'll see how that goes.
So, avoid Summit Adjusters and Tony (jim was fine) He is a slick salesman, who will pull out all the stops if he sees a enough of a payday.
Now some larger claims may truly benefit from a public adjuster, maybe over $15K, but if you go with one, go with a member of National Association of Public Insurance Adjusters, they sign code of conduct. Avoid Summit
Let my mistake help you avoid the same. Don't fall for any of the sweet talk and promises from that slick talking fellow and if your claim is <15K you're probably better off without a public adjuster.

Dan Shurdich of Summit Public Adjustors was referred to me at a point when I was terribly stressed.
My uncle had just died, right in the middle of an insurance claim for flood damage on his house. The house was cluttered and in terrible condition, I didn't have all the paperwork relating to the claim, and I didn't have a clue how to approach the problem. I only knew that something had gone awry in the process and I needed some help to work things out in a satisfactory manner with my uncles insurer.
Mr. Shurdich, or Danny, as he allowed me to address him, was prompt, professional, and very reassuring. He walked through the house, was patient with my inexperience and my stress and my emotionalism, and didn't rush me or try to push me into anything. He offered to work with me on his rate from the beginning and the amount he wanted (20%) was already below the 25% quoted me by others I called.
After the walk through, Danny was kind enough to provide me via email with names and numbers of people who could do the kind of work that was needed when I asked for them. He was very patient again with my difficulties - I live in a different state from this property, was still emotional, and wasn't able to act quickly on anything.
He stuck with the process and followed up several times as I worked things out. Then, when at the last minute my need to be respectful of a member of my extended family who offered up an old friend to do the job meant I had to tell him I was going to sign a contract with someone else, he was completely understanding, even though it meant he'd done quite a bit of hand holding and recommending for nothing.
If not for my sense of obligation to family, I would have been delighted to work with Danny and I feel sure he could have brought a satisfactory conclusion to a complicated situation. Altogether a very positive experience with a very professional and friendly service provider.

Summit was recommended to me by a plumber who took a look at a water leak and gave me his sympathies... it was a mess of a water leak. I contacted Ed Janeski at summit who came over, explained the process and took some pictures. Punctual and friendly. However, he's a salesman. The purpose of hiring a public adjuster is to get more money from the insurance company, including their fees, than what the insurance company would give you otherwise.

After a lot of haggling over the terms of the agreement and the price, he submitted the claim on my behalf. It took three to five weeks to get my check, which is exactly the amount of time I was told it would take. Overall, I got the work paid for out of the insurance proceeds, including the deductible. So, did I get more money? I have no idea. But even including the deductible, I didn't pay anything for it, so I can't complain!
