)We were greeted immediately upon entering Ambridge Bike Shop by Gary. I felt no pressure whatsoever, and told him exactly what I was looking to have done...have my son measured for a new bike properly. I instructed us to head downstairs to the bikes, where he engaged my son with some playful banter before getting down to business. He choose two bikes, and explained why he choose these two bikes. His experience and knowledge really came out, as did his friendliness. While we weren't necessarily prepared to buy, we did! He put the bike on the rack, and then explained to my son (as well as us) all the workings of the bike, as well as simple maintenance. He made some adjustments to the bike, and taught my son how to shift and brake properly. While this shop is not close to me (I live in South Hills) I will Definitely return for any future service needs, or bike purchases. (I actually have my eye on a Raleigh bike now....thanks to Gary!!!
Description of Work: Went to Ambridge Bike Shop, per a recommendation from a co-worker, to look at bikes for my son, who has outgrown his old bike. I wanted a "professional" to measure my son, for the best bike size for him. Gary was exceptional in dealing with my 9 year old son, and talked with him and sized him up, and then went for two bikes to mount and measure from.

Ample street parking, and did not appear that meters were checked on Saturdays. Was greeting almost immediately upon entering the store and was directed to the basement where the mountain bikes are displayed. The same gentleman came down a short time later and began asking me what specifically I was looking for and what my price range was. He showed me a few bikes of varying prices and pointed out the good and bad parts of them. I picked one to test ride which I did in the alley behind the store. Staff was fairly busy with customers asking questions and with repairs, but I did not feel neglected. Once I made a decision, Gary (not sure if he was the one who originally helped me or not) but the bike on the repair rack and gave me a thorough overview of the basic systems, how they worked and how bust to use and maintain them. He ensured the bike was properly tuned prior to purchase. Was advised that there was a complimentary tune up provided within the first 6 months. Price before tax was over $100 less than factory MSRP. Spent more than I originally planned, but still very happy with purchase. Location of shop is not convenient as I live on the North Side of Pittsburgh, but I will be happy to return for service and for accessories.
Description of Work: Purchased new mountain bike. 2011 Felt Q620.
