They were timely and we were very happy with them. We were very pleased and we were very happy with the price. They came out very quickly and right when they said they would. We would certainly use them again.

Had them replace the "builders special" Furnace and A/C unit that was installed when the hose was built. They did an excellent job with the installation - the new unit's installation is so much neater then what the builder did. The new unit furnace is so quiet you do not even hear it run anymore! The technicians that did the installation where professional, courteous, and knowledgeable. They communicated to me what they where doing and when, if I had any questions they answered them quickly and politely. In order to run some of the new AC wiring/plumbing they had to remove the drop ceiling in order to do their work. When they where done with the job, you could not even tell they did anything. They had drop cloths down to catch debris and put everything back. I am very pleased with what they did and would not hesitate to use them again.

They are okay but expensive. Knowing what I know now I would probably not use them again. They were overpriced. Their cost was just higher. They were pretty professional.

Not great. They showed up with a professional crew. They remediated the backup, but did not check the work. within a week, after cleaning the basement again, it backed up again, causing a whole new expensive finished area cleanup. I had the insist they use a camera and confirm the issue was fixed at my cost again. it was only then they found a broken pipe, which they excavated and fixed. They left me a a large mount of dirt which I now have to hire someone to fix, and I asked them to fix an outdoor spigot before they left, they looked at it, broke it off, and left. (and later offered to come and fix. (and I pay the come-out fee?)... overpriced and not impressed.

It was ok. It was expensive and I had a handyman guy do some more work that I needed done afterwards for a fraction of the cost.

I was very dissatisfied with their service. The fellow came out promptly and gave me an estimate that seemed to be high. I was anxiously to get the work out of the way so I gave him the go ahead to do the work. He replaced two elbows and then noticed the the pipes were wet above the elbows. I felt that it should have been obvious that the leaks were higher up. He said that he would not invoice me, because his boss might make an adjustment since they had not repaired the leak. He said that he would be back out the following week. He came back out a week later and got right to work. He made a guess at what the problem was an proposed another eighteen hundred dollars to replacing the piping up to the bathroom. I hired another plumber to come out following them and he was able to find the leak very quickly. The pricing is really out of line. I never did get a discount for the original work. The responsiveness to my calls was okay, however they never did address adjusting my bill.
Response from Elek Plumbing

"Since 1913, William Elek Plumbing, Heating, and Air Conditioning has had a tradition of exceptional customer service and quality workmanship which is a commitment shared by every member of our team of licensed plumbers and office staff. We have a long outstanding record with the Better Business Bureau, as well as the Lehigh Valley Chamber of Commerce, and have supported what they stand for, for many years. Please understand that an unseen repair was required after the initial services were performed and the second person that arrived was there to provide a free estimate to replace the hot/cold copper water lines from the basement up into the suspended ceiling in the kitchen along with all necessary valves, in addition to replacing the tub faucet with diverter spout and shower line adapter ($1,417.00). We apologize that there was a missed communication within our office for an adjustment on the original invoice, but since the invoice was never paid for, we stand behind our policy of 100% customer satisfaction and accordingly have removed the invoice from the account."

Wonderful....professional and correctly done in all respects for the first time in years after many partial fixes by myself and others that really didn't work completely.

They were very pleasant to work with, and had the best price of the three estimates I got. Plus the best ideas for how to do some elements. They did a nice job and were very clean. They were a bit slow to begin the job and it took longer to finish than the estimator had projected, but that was my only small complaint. They subcontracted the tile floor to another company, which I didn't know until those guys showed up. This company also did a nice job.

Their service was average. They were on time and responsive. I thought that they were a little overpriced for the work that they did, but they did do good work. I would use this company again in the future.

Initially we thought we would do a major renovation of a half-bathroom, including tearing out cabinets, and installing a tub. Steve Elek looked at the job and sent a proposal to do the work for $3300-$4500. We got another estimate from an independent contractor which wasn't much cheaper. In the end we scaled back to replacing the sink/vanity. Steve was completely gracious about coming back to our house and doing a new proposal for a much more modest job. Elek's bid was higher than the independent contractor's price, but Elek came highly recommended, and talking with Steve made us confident that they would do a good job. In addition, we felt that as a 100-year-old local business Elek would stand behind its work if there were any problems. In fact, there were problems: installing a pedestal sink is harder than installing a vanity, and the unevenness of the floor actually made it impossible at first. The first Elek plumber was here 4+ hours trying to get the sink level--he wanted to get it just right, but it became clear it couldn't be done, and he actually broke a corner off the sink while wrestling with it (Steve told us to just buy another sink, since we supplied it, and Elek took the cost off the bill). None of us could have known that the work on the floor would have to be done first. When the floor was finished, another one of Elek's plumbers started the whole job over again with the new sink, and was able to level it and install it correctly. We are very happy with the new sink. Everyone we met from Elek was friendly, polite, professional and cleaned up thoroughly after himself. Plus we enjoyed hearing about the history of the business and of South Bethlehem from Steve!

I have dealt with Elek plumbers several times in the past and have always had a good experience. This time was also excellent service. The receptionist gave me an approximate time when they could come when I made the appointment. Then, they called right before coming to make sure it was OK to come. They came exactly when they said they would. (This has also been my experience in the past with this company.) Frank was very professional.
