I engaged with Martin Lawn Services (Doug) in April, 2022 and provided a 1/3 deposit of $4,150.00. Work was to start by 9/1/22. Long story short, always gave excuses and strung me out. Ghosted me for several weeks in the fall. He finally agreed to refund my deposit late November 2022 when it was obvious he would never start the work. Then he blamed his accountant. Doug has never returned the deposit. He will string you out and is extremely dishonest and unethical. Doug did nothing and owes me $4,150.00.

My experience with Doug Martin Landscaping is one of the worst I’ve had with any contractor. We contracted to have a partially covered patio and retaining wall completed on a new home build. Contract was signed in April 2022, and it has been the definition of over-promise and under-deliver. We were told work would start at the latest July 18th, 2022 but Doug threw in that there was a great chance it would start by the 4th of July. The contract says the project should take 3 weeks, and Doug assured it would be a max of 6 with any possible delays. Work began on August 25th and has stopped for the the last month. At this point, the project might be ½ complete. There has been contact from Doug for a month, and it's become pretty clear that he had no intention of finishing the project. I believe he underquoted the job from the start with no intention to finish, just to take some of my money and run after the easier part of the job was done.

"This post is totally false. We have been cutting the homeowner for 4 years with no issues. The homeowner pays the bills so that is who we talk to with any issues. She never called. When we received a phone call from this person, I had my crew leader call and meet with him and see what the issue was. He did and all was taken care of. When this person called again. I had my crew leader reach out to him again. He never returned our repeated attempts to communicate.At that point,we returned an over payment from the homeowner and cancelled service to this property . Since we have no idea who this person is and had no contact with the homeowner, we had to move on."

Doug Martin came out, assessed the project, and provided some great suggestions. I found him to be accommodating/ easy to work with and reasonably priced. I am very pleased with the new patio – it looks great! There was a pond issue to be resolved, and when the weather permitted, Doug sent his ‘pond’ guys. As far as I can tell the issue seems to be resolved. . I want to compliment not only Doug, but also his workers. They were all extremely polite, skilled and easy to work with. Based on my experience, I highly recommend this company.

Terrible said things he do but never comes through when he feels he done you try to call him back he said he will come on such a date but never shows up numerous times then he takes you to court to pay balance with late charges. I would never use again.

"Unfortunately I did have to take this person to court to pay their bill. The judge ruled in my favor obviously and this person is upset about that. My guys did exactly what she wanted,so much so that she tipped them and thanked them,then tried go skip out on the bill. Nice try."

He rebuilt the wall on the agreed upon price and the wall was a significant improvement. Both the owner and the workers were both very professional and knowledgeable. I would use him again and would recommend him to others.

Went well at first then went down hill. Retaining walls did not match. Cut corners never finished project still waiting. Left with mud. Two different stairs never heard of. Do not use.

The finish on the concrete was lousy. Some was broomed nicely, some was broomed real thick.There was no edging done at all. The patio was angled toward the garage so that all the water was forming a massive puddle along the side of the building. There was no expansion joint. The cut the patio into 4 squares for the expansion and the cut was crooked. Areas where they poured another pad the second day was not level with the pad they poured the first day. Cement was splattered on my brand new retaining wall, the siding of the garage and the man door. They did not finish off by bringing in dirt to angle the sides of the patio into the yard. It was left as a drop off and you could see under the cement work. The first winter which was not even bad, the patio cracked. There were holes so bad along the edge in the garage, the added a layer of cement around the edge. It was darker in color and looks hideous.
I had a block wall and cement steps put in going into my basement. The wall is bowed. The steps were only 7 or 8 inches wide. I had to walk down them sideways. They added on to them to make them wide enough and now they aren't even flat. There's dips and humps in them. They put a wrong block in on one side of the steps and left the forming boards in instead of pouring a side wall on the top step.
Two bushes were to be pulled out. They cut one off leaving the stump and didn't touch the other. The whole landscaped area only had 1 inch of mulch and was not edged. They didn't level it off or take boulders out. They put tiny bushes in right up against the house leaving them no room to grow. They were told to only drive in the upper yard; they drove through the lower, got stuck, said they would fix the ruts that were one foot deep, but did not. They came back threw boulders into the holes and covered with grass seed and straw. They came back a second time, threw a little more dirt in and it still was not corrected. A third time, still not.
They took me to court for their final payment and lost. I filed suit on them in civil court and his insurance company settled with me.
The owner made statements to me that as soon as the grass grows up it'll be fine. Ok, right. The ruts are still underneath and **** ** the tractor.
Hopefully, this helps someone else from going through what I did.

The contractors team was on time, professional, and cleaned when finished. Mr. Martin visited the job site on both days to supervise and handle any issues that arose. I would definitely consider hiring him again.

Doug's crew showed up on time. They were professional and did a great job. Everything was exactly as promised. The job took a day and a half. Doug stopped by to go over the job and make sure we were happy. We are! I plan on using them again and highly recommend them.

This is our 3rd year of having Doug's group maintain our lawn service needs and we count ourselves very fortunate to have found his company. His crew do a great job each week of keeping our lawn cut and trimmed, along with various lawn treatments, as needed. Doug and his crew are very approachable - and care that the job is done right. And it's so nice to know that his group will be there when the leaves fall to assist with that service as well. Doug's team came out and dug out the side and back areas around the house and edged the beds. They worked with us to define the area and quickly and efficiently prepared the beds and edged them, which is what we requested, so we can now select our plants and finish the project. Doug gave us some recommendations on plants also. They were professional and easy to work with and scheduled the work within a week of when we agreed on the job.

We hired Martin Lawn Service to come out and build us a new paver stone patio in our back yard, re-build a badly installed retaining wall, put down mulch, and trim some trees around the house. The patio looks great, and we are expecting many years of use on it. The retaining wall has never looked better, I don't think it was as straight as it is now when the house was built. I look forward to using Martin Lawn Service in the future when we need landscape work done, I already know we are looking to get on the mulch list for next year.

They are awesome. I have them come out every year now. They put in the patio last year and repaired it for free. I had a little separation in the blocks. They will come back to seal it in a few weeks.

I have used this landscaping company on many different occasions because I was so impressed with the job I had them do initially, I hired them back to do more work at my home.. I had a 2 tiered wall with pillars built in front of my home along with pillars at the end of my driveway. The job crew showed up everyday at the same time and worked morning till evening time. They were extremely professional in their work , they cleaned up after each days end and returned back everyday until the job was done. I am a picky person so if I wanted to change anything they never complained and accommodated me with my request. The walls are beautiful that they build, sturdy and my husband and I were completely amazed at the gentlemen's skills in cutting the stone. My walls and pillars still look beautiful and we do plan on hiring them again in the very near future for a very long retaining wall we will need built I the back of our home. This company is an A+++ and if anyone is ever in our area, they are more than welcome to drive by to see the work they have done.
