Called Chud out for an emergency call and, nicely enough, they charge the same amount regardless of the time of day. It is not a small number, over 100$. The gentleman came in and, in spite of his confidence, re-wired the air conditioner incorrectly so the fan was going the wrong direction. It was at the point that either the A/C unit was going to blow out or the heat of the upstairs unit was going to become a serious problem. This was all within 24 hours of the call. Over $300 paid to them (to include the $200 part), I had someone else come in for an estimate on a new unit and they noticed the fan was going in the wrong direction. He re-wired it and the air is working and we can turn the A/C down to a normal temperature, I'm sure saving money. The estimate for the new unit...over $18,000. Trust is a hard thing to find.

Unfortunately, I hired CHUD to install our home furnace 11 years ago. At the time, I signed a proposal that stated that they would cover the parts for the life of the Lennox furnace. Lennox covers most of the furnace for 10 years so I was happy with this agreement. Now, at 11 years, I need something fixed and they are telling me that that was a typo! I had other issues with this company in the beginning of our remodel 10 years ago and should have known that these guys were not ethical. DO NOT HIRE this company!

I have been using them for years, because they put in my heating and A/C. The service isn't cheap, but I have a very high efficiency, complex, system that has a lot of censors that are sensitive. They do very good work and are reliable.

The technician responded to my call very quickly. he came to my home after normal business hours and fixed my heating. He was very professional and explained the cause of heat not working. After the repair he explained what happened and what he did to fix it. I was impressed with this service.

Never Again! My Gas Heater was not working properly, so I called for a Preventive Maintenance Service and for Tech to identify problem. Heater would not run properly. Heater would start & then stop. Happened several times. Tech came Monday afternoon. Preventative Maint. service identified Flame Sensor was bad. Tech stated that PM Service would be $140.00 and Flame Sensor replacement would be expensive. Stated that Flame Sensors were rationed by company, 2 per truck, bad units had to be returned to company. Heater not working, 27 degrees out, do I have a choice? Flame Sensor replacement was $317.65. Total bill of $457.65. I don't have a problem with PM Service charge, I have a problem with $317.65 for a repair of a part that I found that night online (repairclinic.com) Lennox OEM part for $18.65. The exact part the Tech had shown to me! Even if the part is marked up 4 times it's worth, I'am paying over $240.00 for the Tech to replace it. Took him 10 minutes to replace it. I called Chud the next day, spoke with the Receptionist, Took me another day before I spoke with the Office Manager. She offered to give me a $65.00 credit toward my next PM Service. I said I've been your customer over 10 years, you overcharge me like this and this is the best you can do? She offered an additional $10.00. This company installed this heater 10 years ago, replaced my AC Condenser 3 years ago, have been to my house multiple times. I WILL NEVER USE THEM AGAIN.

A very nice tech came out to assess the heating condition. After an hour surpassed the tech contacted head quarters because he was unable to detect the issue. At that time he began to ask questions on any other recent services. He eventually provided a diagnosis stating that the previous service obtained from another company was incorrect. I then called the previous company for them to address the issue, the company came out and corrected the issue in 20 minutes. The diagnostic provided by the company was COMPLETELY incorrect and I was then charged another diagnostic fee. I spoke with the office and the company did not want to acknowledge their misteak after providing the detailed report from the second company and was unwilling to to refund any portion of the diagnostic fee. Would not recommend although the tech person was very nice!!

They come every 6 months to changes over for the seasons. Their service is excellent! Quite frankly, I don’t care what the cost is, just as long as the service is good. I don’t know if they are cheaper than other people, I don’t know if they are more expensive than other people. All I know is that when I have a problem, they are here! They are really great! Have been using them for years.

We recently purchased a home and could not get the hot water heater boiler going when the weather turned cold. Chud helped us get the heater going again with some minor fixes. They also identified some longer term issues with the heater setup and returned later to fix those as well. Their explanation of the issues was very clear and they were able to work with us split up the work so the immediate heating issue could be fixed.

They are excellent and we have recommended them others. The workers are very professional. They have always been prompt, punctual, fair, and clean. While cleaning the air ducts they discovered that the water heater needed to be replaced.

It went perfect. They were very professional. They offered us some warranties and stuff like that and they told us how much the total cost would be. They were very efficient in getting a part because they had to get it from pretty far away because it was not on their stock. They fixed the heater and they kept us in heat as soon as the right part had come. This happened twice already. The first time was in January of 2013 and then the second time was maybe in November of 2013. It was before the heating season when we had it on and we heard a funny sound. It was a rotating part in the furnace that was making the noise. They charged us about $1,500 the first time that they came out. Their prices are inline with other companies. We would use them again in the future. In fact, they are on our phone list.

We contacted Chud to conduct a general inspection and service of our furnace, which we had not had done in the three prior years since purchasing our home. Chud's personnel were prompt and professional. The result of the inspection, however, revealed carbon monoxide levels coming from the furnace that were too high. We were instructed not to turn it back on, and were required to sign a document acknowledging that we had been so advised. Chud then sent over someone else that same evening to work up a proposal to replace the furnace. It was a last-minute appointment at about 8 p.m. the same day because it was already late November and cold. We appreciated the extra effort to get us a quote the same day, but in retrospect I think they may have been trying to put pressure on to move fast and not shop around because we were without heat in cold weather.
We obtained a proposal to replace the existing furnace, and also to install return ductwork. Previously, the furnace had simply been pulling air from the unfinished basement to supply the house, with some open return vents from the first and second floors. We also requested that the proposal include installation of an air conditioning unit, which we previously did not have, since we already had the ductwork (except the return) in place.
The proposal we received from Chud was approximately $13,000. We tried to negotiate down from that, but with no success. We subsequently submitted a proposal from another contractor for the same work and comparable, if not superior, quality products, for just over $7,000. The other contractor's work was professional and our new system is operating well. It seems Chud was really trying to gouge us on the price, as it the quote was nearly double what we ended up paying. If you are going to solicit a proposal from Chud, I would recommend obtaining competing bids as well.
Response from

"We at the Chud Company are sorry to hear you went with another company. The proposal you had received was a good, better, best proposal. The price on the good was a little above what you paid to the contractor you hired. If you had came back to us we would've been happy to negotiate a better price to accomodate you in any way we can. We want your business and would do anything to earn that. We are known for superior service and quality workmanship. We are a NATE certified company with an A+ rating with the BBB. We have been in business for over 44 years. We must be doing something right. I'm sure you've heard the saying before "you get what you pay for" Good Luck in the future!"

Showed up on time and placed on his booties.  Went to the furnace and started to perform the cleaning.  About 15 minutes he came up and said he had to get someone else to assist with the relief valve, and proceeded to let another person into the house, they both went into the furnace room and about 1/2 hour the newest entry came back up from the furnace room and said he had bad news and bad news.
1st bad news, was that the reserve tank must have a internal leak and that it would have to be replaced and the 2nd bad news was that the CO reading was 1116/ppm and that they would have to shut down my boiler or I would have to sign a release to free them on potential risk is they restarted the boiler.
I was floored, and scared,  I thought my CO detector was suppose to alarm when CO went above 40.   So they wrote up a estimate for replacing the 34 year old boiler 6,625 and an estimate to repair 1,350.  I signed the release and then they left.
I went out and bought a CO detector with readings (which hasn't gone above 14) and I then proceeded to contact two more companies.
The one company pointed out where they took the CO reading, they drilled a hole in the flew and placed their probe inside.  I don't know if this standard practice and yes I am replacing the boiler with a company that is more then 25% less,  but this sounded to me like a scare tack to try and sell boiler/furnaces.

Response from

"[member name removed], You had an unsafe operating condition within your boiler. There was no record of maintenance on your boiler that was 23 years old. To check CO on an old boiler is a MUST. We do not want to leave your family in any danger as to which we had you sign a carbon monoxide waiver form to allow you to keep your boiler operational if you wanted to. That is not a scare tactic. It is a safety procedure to protect you and your family. We are sorry you took it that way but with annual preventive maintenances this issue could've been well avoided. Due to lack of maintenance that is why you had so many issues with your boiler system along with the water logged expantion tank. Good thing we took a CO reading and now you can rest easy without any worries."
