We hired Certapro of Blue Bell/Willow Grove to paint the exterior of our 2000sqft home and complete some carpentry work. The sales consultation went well and we were looking forward to a professional headache-free experience. Unfortunately, the project was a mess from start to finish. After Day 1, the project was filled with excuses, mistakes, and delays. “Truck battery is dead”, “We can’t find paint”, “Our carpenter is MIA”, “One of our painters won’t get on a ladder.” This led to the crew trying to rush to complete the job, painters trying to be carpenters and an overall unprofessional and sloppy job. We tried reaching out to the owner by email and phone and were informed that the owner doesn’t communicate with customers. The company did send a crew to do touch-ups for areas that were incomplete and painted the wrong colors. They also did issue us a credit for a portion of botched carpentry but overall we were disappointed with our experience with Certapro of Blue Bell/Willow Grove.

Would not recommend at all. I explained to the gentleman that gave me the estimate about the hallway paint chipping and peeling. He mentioned a specific paint to combat the issue (even told me he used that paint last year in a home similar to mine around the block from me for the same reason). Clearly they didn’t use anything different than the rest of the house because the paint they used started to chip and crack in my hallway within a month of the job being completed. A month. Paint above my shower started peeling less than a month after the job was completed. Totally unacceptable. Paint in my living room also started cracking within 3 months. I paid about 5,200 for the three-day job because I was getting my house ready to put on the market. When I listed the house two months after having the job done I was unable to include anything about the interior being freshly painted in the home listing description because of the quality of the job. I was actually embarrassed by some of it. Also, when the guys were done painting on day 3 they used (and ended up clogging) my shower to wash their brushes. I made use of the leftover paint they left to tidy the job up as best I could. Would not recommend or use CertaPro ever again.

The overall paint job was very sloppy. When the complaint was made with the company they did apologize and attempt to correct the work. However the correction was still sloppy. Customer service was good, quality was not.

Great, I felt like I had a really high quality team and they didn't disappoint. I imagine a lot comes down to the crew but my experience with Certa has been wonderful and the house looks brand new.

WOW! I'm a small real estate investor with a couple homes in Manayunk. We needed one of our houses painted and cost and quality were the main selling points. I know painting costs can have a very wide swing and my request and quotes that came certainly proved this out. Believe it or not I reached out to 12 different painters in the area to collect quotes. CertaPros (Blue Bell) was the first to respond and they also were the first to come out to give me an estimate. 5 other painters never responded and with the 6 others who did respond the range of estimates came in from $5,000 - $16,000!!! CertaPros estimate was $5,400 and there was one other company that came in at $5,000 but they were much smaller and didn't have the brand name like CertraPros and they also were not able to do the job in the time frame I needed so I went with CertaPros. Sean who gave the estimate and Paige who helped manage the scheduling were both total 'Pros'! The crew was so great, easy to work with, did such a great job and completed the job in 2.5 days. I also needed to get some masonry work done before painting could begin that I failed to mention in the initial estimate to Sean...no problem at all as the crew completed it for me for only $200! I will use CertaPros-Blue Bell for every paint job I need moving forward and I strongly recommend you do the very same!!!

While we aim for excellent customer service, we do not subject our employees to such behavior. For the first job they sent a crew of about 5-6 people so we requested they send the same crew. They did not, instead they sent an old man and a young man probably in his early 20's. Please note that my husband and I work 5 days a week and were not able to supervise the job since we don't come back from work until it's dark and since Mr. McMenamin had promised he would supervise the job, we trusted him and didn't worry. However, when they finished and we inspected the job we got almost sick to see the terrible job they did, the worst pain job my husband and I have ever seen in our long lives. There were some areas that were not even touched and other areas such as the tile floor, much of the stone work adjacent to the woodwork of the exterior of the house and even some of the glass on the windows and doors were smeared with pain. In fact, they had stipulated in the contract that they would sand all areas of old pain and they would replace any rotten wood, well, none of this was done, they didn't even clean the wood before painting. All the paint was just slopped over the rotten wood, the dirty wood, the uneven wood and even on top of the old paint which had pealed on some areas so the new pain has bubbles ridges and deeps, IT JUST LOOKS HORRENDOUS !!!! We consulted with several first class painters and they all were appalled of the terrible quality of the job and agreed with us it was the worst paint job they had also seen. Three of them didn't even want to take one the clean up job. The other three said the would and gave us estimates for THE CLEAN UP ONLY which amounts to 3 to 4 time what CertaPro painters charged us for the paint and we will have to add to that the cost of the new painting. Somebody should respond for these people they just took advantage of us because we are senior citizens. We were almost ready to sell the house we now have to hold it until we get this problem resolved in the meantime it's costing us a lot of money we don't have to undo the damage this horrible people did. I hope that Angie's List stand by it's name and try to help us to resolve this terrible problem

The other painters who you called out to do the touchups were bidding on something completely different than our contract. I am terribly sorry for what you experienced but know that we do not stand for this type of painting. We no longer employ this crew."

They were on time and that is the only thing they did right. The estimator never told me inside of closet doors weren't included and I didn't realize until the job was finished. The team didn't speak fluent English so I couldn't communicate with them. They did two coats in 8 hrs which means the paint never cured so my sills r still sticky, my front door sticks terribly and the paint is chipping off the inside of my front door and my window sill. I had new quartz countertops and they didn't cover the space properly so sprays of paint dotted my countertop which I spent my Saturday morning scraping it off with my fingernail. They offered to use chemicals on it but I didn't need them to ruin that too! When I called to complain they had their "clean up guy" come out to fix the sloppy job done in the corners by the baseboards and clean off the paint they got on my hardwood floors. Never again

From my 1st phone call with pleasant & friendly Paige, to a very knowledgeable consultant, Sean, to the friendliest and most professional painters, Issa and crew, I am left speechless. Proposal's were well written and easy to understand. I liked that we didn't need to wait months for work to be scheduled and started. Amazed all prep and work completed in 3 days. Unlike most owners of several investment properties we don't look for cheapest or easiest way to do projects. They understood that we take our properties, tenants and community very serious. In the past we have done all exterior and interior painting ourselves and I think we have found the way to retire our paint brushes!

Certa Pro was scheduled to begin my exterior paint job on August 22nd,  but a crew showed up on the 21st with no notice ready to pressure wash my home. All of my windows and doors were open and I didn?t realize that people were starting to spray my home with water until I heard the equipment. I asked them to be careful with the pressure since it is an older home. Despite my request, water came into my home and soaked a carpet and I found water on the hardwood floors on both the first and second level.

I told the foreman that the roof and gutterwork was brand new and to protect it during the painting process. It had been installed about 3 weeks prior. The foreman said, ?Don?t worry. We won?t damage your home.?

I found a person painting a window sill, and noticed that he was brushing gobs of paint on the  dirty sill with the sash closed. I asked them not to paint ANY of the sills and did my best to  wipe off the paint with all of the dirt while it was still wet. That moment was when I began to doubt that these folks cared about anything except finishing the job as quickly as possible.

As the people were working, I noticed that they were NOT using tarps to protect the roofs or the surfaces in the area. I asked them once again to use tarps and was told, ?We?re good. We don?t need tarps.? Unfortunately, I am a widow who lives alone and didn?t know what else I could do except take them at their word. I must say, until all of the damaged was revealed on the last day when the roofs were pressure washed, I began to think they were amazing skilled painters who were super-efficient.

Certa Pro damaged my brand new roofs dripping paint and caulk on all of the roofs. They bent shingles and gutters with their ladders, damaged my A/C unit using it as a prop to scrape shutters and dripping paint INTO the unit, they cracked a window in my sun room, painted ALL of the sunroom doors and windows shut including the screen inserts in the sunroom doors.  French doors on another porch have some sort of imprint plus large pieces of dirt stuck in the paint, the exterior thresholds are half painted since they were painted while the door was shut, all of the windows in my garage and a set of casement windows on the main house were painted shut, garage entry door paint is blistered, lift up garage doors were not painted on the bottom which is the first thing seen when the door is lifted, one garage door was severely gouged and not patched,  paint was dripped onto new brick work, paint on the front and rear  entry doors peeled off the day they left. The hidden rear side of the chimney on the garage was not painted.  While painting my front door, the person dripped red paint all over my hardwood floors, although he was using a tiny tarp. Fortunately, I caught it in time before it spread to my carpet and into the groove of the floor. Certa Pro did not remove any hardware so  doorknobs, knockers, light fixtures, etc also have paint on them.

They were so anxious to finish this job, that during the process they recoated surfaces before the paint had a chance to dry. I asked them about that and was told, ?We use Sherwin Williams Super Paint. You don?t have to prime or wait for it to dry completely?. That is probably why the surface of the paint remains tacky.

I called Certa Pro?s office and emailed Sean McMenamin (outside sales) when I discovered the paint on the roofs and did not hear back for days until they received notice from their liability insurance carrier that I had filed a claim. The same crew showed up at my home days later without an ok from me to ?scrub? the shingles clean and I told them to leave my property.

When Sean McMenamin came out to do the estimate for my job, he gave me a glossy brochure with all of their kudos, puzzlingly including the names of 11 radio DJ?s who they have worked for. I have a feeling that the 11 DJ?s had a much different experience than I had.

 I had received other estimates from painters who figured that my job would take 2-3 weeks and with a bit higher price than Certa Pro. Certa Pro arrived early in the afternoon of August 21st and were finished the job by early afternoon on August 24th. They worked through the weekend which means that the job took them 3 plus days!

I liked their services. They did do a lot of prep time and I think that should be limited. Sometimes they are hard to get a hold of because they seem to be busy. The price was alright.

The service turned out great. 2 people came out and it took them 4 days to get it done. The rooms looked spectacular after they were done. They were courteous, they were clean, they did a few extra things that we asked them to do, and they did a very good job.
