Project Doubled in Cost, Tripled in Length, and Lacked Professional Communication We made the mistake of hiring The Wednesday Company for our garage addition after they were recommended by our architect. While our initial meeting with them was pleasant, the experience quickly turned into a nightmare. Short Story: The project cost doubled, the timeline tripled, and communication was both rare and condescending. Construction started months late, and the project, initially promised for completion in June, is still ongoing in January. Unless you want to overspend, endure endless delays, and be treated dismissively, We would strongly advise against hiring The Wednesday Company. Details: Our grievances with The Wednesday Company are numerous. Here are just a few of the most egregious issues: Cost Overruns: The project cost doubled from the initial quote, with no clear justification. When the framer’s quote came in at triple the estimate, we were told, “We don’t have time to get more quotes, but you’re welcome to find another contractor.” This would have left us stranded, as they refused to refund the $30,000 retainer we had already paid. Project Delays: The project was scheduled to begin in March and finish by June. However, construction didn’t actually start until June and is still unfinished in January. Poor Communication: Despite touting their communication skills, updates were infrequent and only provided after we repeatedly reached out. Texts and responses were often dismissive or outright condescending. Workers would arrive unannounced, blocking our cars and causing significant disruptions. Incompetence and Oversight: Outlets were omitted from the mudroom entirely, and when we pointed this out, they told us, “You should have said something sooner if you wanted an outlet in that room.” Critical errors included a crooked shower pan, missing drywall in corners, and HVAC lines obstructing garage door rails. While we were initially dismissed when raising these concerns, inspectors later flagged the same issues, causing further delays. The stress, frustration, and financial burden this project has caused are immeasurable. The Wednesday Company’s lack of professionalism, transparency, and accountability has been deeply disappointing. We regret our decision to hire them and hope this review helps others avoid the same mistake.

It was a long process but they were fair and it looked great at the end. Able to list and get a buyer within 1 week at full list price!

The Wednesday Company really came through for us when we needed to do a basement conversion into an ADU. They guided us all the way from start to finish, and always delivered on their promises. I really appreciate how they took the time to weigh the options for how we wanted to get things done. They're super friendly and always willing to jump on a call whenever we had questions.

We are very happy with our remodel. Everything is just the way we wanted it. All work was completed in a timely manner and on schedule.

I have owned four homes in the Portland area over the last 40 years and have worked with many contractors so I know gems when I see them! I now have a small fixer upper with a lot of needs but I mostly despised the bathroom. Kat and Ruben and their competent helpers redid the entire thing for a reasonable price, with quality work and a quick turnaround. When the new flooring was problematic, they went to great effort to get a new product even when supply shortages made it a headache. It was not as straightforward as expected but they didn't complain; they just got it done and the bathroom looks great. Ruben also installed a metal pergola over concrete slab and I have been so relieved to know it is done well and will not give me problems. Kat and Ruben have also been very kind about doing extra things here and there as they arise if they have time: they don't sit around but get after things and are innovative problem solvers. They installed some door blinds and changed out hinges. Kat found an interior fire proof door for a good price, installed it quickly and took that worry away for me. They came up with a good plan for rescuing a large, glued on mirror and trimming it out instead of removing it. Finally, Ruben and Kat are just nice. They do not over promise and give honest answers as to what is feasible and the costs involved. They are responsive and make time for you. While I don't want them to get too busy, I can't help but recommend them! They really made my life better in my little fixer house and I am so grateful I found them. They do good work for a good price in a timely fashion and are a pleasure to have around.
