These two events occurred within a couple weeks of each other. In both cases, we were forced to use Multnomah Heating (MH) by American Home Shield (AHS) as part of our Homeowner's Warranty Policy. EVENT #1 We had a condensation line leak into our closet due to the drain line not being routed to the exterior of the house. (The end of the pipe had receded into the wall because it had become detached from the line set of the AC due to age - 28 years old). The owner came out promptly and discovered the source of the leak. He secured the line outside the exterior wall, but left an ugly hole that I had to pay extra to repair. EVENT #2 A second leak occurred where the condensation drain line exited the overflow pan under the furnace/AC blower because the line had become clogged. That leak occurred because on the visit for EVENT #1, the owner did not inspect and blow out the entire line. He only re-routed it to the exterior of the house. Again, the MH Owner came out and said the line was clogged. He unclogged it, replaced a very small section of the PVC drain line, promptly collected the $60 Warranty deductible fee, and left. A couple days later, we had a major water leak through the ceiling in the hallway immediately below the furnace/AC drain pan. I called the owner and asked him if he inspected the drain pan, and he said it was fine. I asked him why the secondary drain line didn't work. He said he didn't know there was a secondary drain exiting the drain pan. That's because he, in fact, DID NOT INSPECT the drain pan. The secondary drain line was on the back side of the pan. I called AHS to report the damage. They contacted the MH Owner who told them that the pan was fine. So, not only did he mis-represent the truth to me, he mis-stated the facts to AHS as well. (See the attached photos of the pan that was removed/replaced by the same company that came in behind MH a year prior when MH said this same furnace was too old to repair and refused to work on it, but promptly collected their $60 and left ***see previous review***). AHS wanted MH to come fix the problem, but I refused to let anyone from this company do any further work and potential damage to my property. The MH Owner, Joseph R. Innocenti, would not stand behind his work and pay for the $1000+ damage they caused because of his shoddy, incomplete/incompetent workmanship. And neither would AHS, who forced me to use MH. I DO NOT RECOMMEND Multnomah Heating and will NEVER use them again. P.S. The same vote of NO CONFIDENCE goes for American Home Shield.

We were forced to use this contractor by American Home Shield (AHS) as part of our Homeowner Warranty Policy. A serviceman came out to look at the furnace. He told us he could not and would not work on the unit because it was too old to be repaired. He promptly requested his $60 fee, the AHS deductible, and told us that he would tell AHS that the unit needed to be replaced because it was in such bad shape. AHS contacted us the following day stating that a second company would be sent out to inspect the furnace. After the inspection, a part was ordered and replaced, and the furnace worked just fine. This company, as you will see from another review I wrote, is not trustworthy and is more interested in a quick fee from AHS. I have written a similar review and submitted it to AHS.

One of their service technicians came out the day before Thanksgiving to repair my furnace.  He said he would send me a quote to replace my whole system on the following Monday after the holiday.  To date, I have not received any estimate, despite leaving numerous message, calling the owner, and earlier this week having the owner tell me I would have the estimate by the end of the week.  I guess they do not need the business.  Some of the worst responsiveness I have ever had from a highly rated company on Angie's List.

Joe responded immediately to my request for assistance - actually calling after work that day and offering to come that night. As I was not home he said he would call in the morning, which he did, and took care of everything quickly, efficiently and professionally. I totally recommend Multnomah Heating and will use them again should I have needs!!
Thanks, Joe!

They do annual furnace servicing for us. They are always prompt, efficient and affordable. We have a duplex and use them for both sides. I don't remember the last cost - so the above is a guesstimate for annual service - both sides.

Ahead of time, checked everything out, cleaned furnace and air conditioner. Let me know what might need to be replaced some day. Always very nice.

After a little miscommunication and rescheduling, Joe (the owner) arrived at our house and within two minutes deduced that our system was 'freezing up' due to an overly clogged furnace filter. This seemed so obvious that I was embarrassed to have even called him out, but I also wondered why he couldn't have told me about this common problem over the phone and saved everyone some time and expense. I then asked if he would be checking the system pressures, which I was told would happen by one of his employees, and he said "I normally would do that, but I don't have the time now. That will be $60." Apparently the quick revenue Multnomah Heating earns from home warranty calls is more important than maintaining a good relationship with homeowners.
Response from Multnomah Heating, Inc.
"This customer has a Home Warranty through American Home Shield in which for this service call i am working for them. The $60 fee is the customers Deductible from American Home shield which I have to deduct from my billing to them. They only allow us a minumal amount of time per service call and do not pay for extra services outside of getting the system up and running. We would have been more than happy to spend extra time onsite for Barry but that would have be an extra fee outside of the allowed warranty total. The system was operation normal and cooling well when we left."

We set up a time for Wednesday, but he fit us into the schedule earlier, on Monday. Professional, friendly, on-time, and gave us tips on how to make our furnace more efficient.

On day two of 100 degree weather my cooling system broke down. I called around to try and find someone that could come out right away. Most companies were 24 - 72 hours out. Fortunately for me Multnomah Heating was in the area, on route to another job up in Washington. Confident that they could fix my issue quickly, they fit me in immediately! When they arrived, Matt and Joe (owner) were extremely professional, friendly and knowledgable. They got right to work and within 20 minutes had the problem resolved and fixed a few other idiosyncracies of my 17 year old system (at no charge) when they saw them. Joe suggested that he'd come back, also at no charge, to explain how my dated system was failing and what my options might be in the future. - he was not pushy at all.

THEY ARE THE PEOPLE WHO ORIGINALLY INSTALLED THE SYSTEM. THEY HAVE DONE A GOOD JOB WITH ALL MY DEALINGS WITH THEM SO I WOULD GLADLY GO BACK AND CALL THEM AGAIN. I THINK THEY KNOW THEIR BUSINESS VERY WELL AND ARE EFFICIENT IN WHAT THEY DO.
