Salem Cardiovascular Associates
About us
Salem CardioVascular is the largest and most comprehensive group of heart and circulation specialists in the Mid-Willamette Valley providing excellence in cardiovascular care since 1980. Our team includes 12 providers in the following specialties: General Cardiology, Interventional Cardiology, Electrophysiology, and Vascular Surgery. We have offices in Salem, Dallas and Stayton. We are also the home of Oregon Heartbeat Clinic (for patients suffering from irregular heartbeat problems) and Oregon Vein Clinic (for patients suffering from painful and unsightly varicose veins). We have a full range of diagnostic imaging services relating to the heart and vascular systems, including nuclear medicine, echocardiography and vascular imaging. All three of these services are accredited by their respective national accreditation organization which ensures you will receive the most safe and effective care available. Salem CardioVascular has recently joined forces with WomenHeart, the National Colation for Women with Heart Disease. We sponsor a free monthly support group for women with cardiac diagnoses that provides a safe place to learn about their disease and provide emotional support. This is a community service available to any woman with a heart disease diagnosis. You do not have to be a patient of Salem CardioVascular to participate in this support group. There are 11 physicians at this site. Surgery is performed at this site. To see if a provider is certified, visit www.abms.org.

Dr. Wassenmiller diagnosed intercostal neuralgia but had me take a stress test and echocardiogram, which showed good arterial flow and explained my heart murmur. No further action necessary.
Dr. Wassenmiller explains things well and I have complete confidence in him. He is brusque, and if you are not exercising or are otherwise abusing your body, he will get in your face.
Staff quality is uneven. About a 20%+ chance you will encounter incivility. The ultrasound technician is particularly insolent to older men. I would return to this clinic only for a serious procedure, because the doctors have a reputation for competence. For ordinary care I would consider the incivility unacceptable.
There appear to be three cardiology clinics now in Salem and the Angieslist reviews are a mass of confusion about this. Do your homework carefully, with the yellow pages next to your computer.
