The person answering the phone knew what she was talking about and promptly scheduled the time for the repairman to come out. The repair guy came when expected, calling ahead of time to let me know he was on his way. He'd already brought the right parts, guessing correctly what was wrong on the basis of the info I had given the woman on the phone. The cost included $60 to come to the house and an additional $60 for the labor time. This seems about average, so I gave them only a "C" for cost. Otherwise straight As. I would use them again, particularly as they knew instantly and exactly what was wrong and how to fix it.

We took our dryer in on Monday and in spite of having to order a new drum from out of state it was finished by Wednesday! Very happy and will definitely use them again!

Ray, owner of The Service Center is nothing short of AMAZING! I found him on Angie's List after having no support from LG's service center. My five year old, high-end LG washing machine stopped working with a full load of wet clothes inside. My family was about to leave on a 1 week trip. LG informed me it would take 3 business days to get a service technician to our house, then potentially another week to get the part ordered, if the technician didn't have the part on his truck. I called The Service Center, spoke with Ray's friendly, responsive wife and business partner, who immediately put Ray on the phone. He asked me a few questions about how the washing machine stopped working and identified the problem over the phone. He also had the part in stock that our washing machine needed. Yea, Ray! He squeezed us into his already busy day, and our washing machine was fixed that day! I have only had positive Angie's List experiences, and I would put The Service Center on the TOP of my list of fabulous Angie's List finds! We will call Ray for ANY appliance needs that he covers! Ray is brilliant!

My mom's ice maker has never worked. For years we have had to purchase ice and put it in the ice maker. I heard about Ray, he came and fixed it. Now she has ice. He was friendly and efficient.

Ray called to discuss my problem with the dishwasher and talk about possible solutions. He showed up on time, took care of the problem, and even installed a wave guide cover in our microwave that I was too afraid I would break if I installed it! Service Center is a really nice small Portland company that I highly recommend! Great people.

Washing machine broke. I live a block from The Service Center, so I walked up and described the break down. The owner (I think) immediately realized it was the motor coupling. I walked back home, 5 minutes later, literally, he was at my door. Within 20 minutes he had the machine up and running. Very friendly. Reasonable charge too.

Service tech earned his money as there was a lot of built up ice/frost in the way. Did it quietly and was nice about it. Showed me the broken part and put everything back the way it was

It ended up being a very complicated repair. It was hard to get the glass top off and then put it back together again. Ray did a good job. He actually didn't charge for an hour since it took a little longer to repair. The price was a little higher than the estimate because of the difficulties with the glass top.

When we moved the washing machine the spinner came away and he came and helped me. His name is Ray. He is awesome. It is a family run business. They are just local. His wife answers the phone. He is a really honest fellow. Before we started the remodeling we had a refrigerator. He came over and replaced the compressor. The freezer was not working and next day it was not working at all. He came back checked it out and said that the refrigerator was dying. He gave me back the check and I paid him for the part, which was $27. But he gave me my money back. He is a man of integrity and that why I like him. He is busy sometimes he can get too busy himself and it might take two three days for him to come. But that is quite standard by any appointment place but when the refrigerator got messed up he was here the next day. He put the compressor in and it did not work so he came the next day. He brought my money back. He works very hard. He is awesome. He is just wonderful. Here is the deal any appliance repairman will take time to come. They have prior appointments. He is the kind of guy if he can flip it in he will. That is why I don?t want him ever to retire. He does not have a son or a daughter to over and that makes me worried.

I was referred to The Service Center by Halcyon Electrical. I talked to Judy on December 30th and explained my problem (the microwave had power but was not heating anything). She asked for the model number then called me back less than an hour later with a price for a generic magnetron with the same warranty as the name brand ($86). We set up an appointment for January 3rd. Ray came over, performed a few quick tests and then quickly (less than 20 minutes) replaced the magnetron. The total cost was only $186. Ray and Judy were friendly and professional and I would not hesitate to use them again for appliance repair.

I had called him before. I like him. He is very knowledgeable and responsible. He gives you options in terms of repairs. His prices are reasonable. You do have to wait for him sometimes.

Did the work on a Saturday at no extra cost. He came by in the morning to see what he would need and did the work later in the day. Very reasonable and did a great job. We will use him again!

Ray had to locate a part for my 20+ year old Maytag washer to stop a serious leak. He was quite familiar with the machine - diagnosed the problem in a couple of minutes, and located and ordered the replacement even though the Matag code for it had changed. It was installed quickly upon arrrival.

Ray Kent has worked on almost all of my appliances. He has repaired my oven, microwave, oven clock, dishwasher and the latest, my washing machine. He has come the same day that I called The Service Center, has arrived on time, has explained the problem and the "fix" to me, and his prices are very reasonable. I most highly recommend The Service Center for all appliance repairs.

They are A-class in every respect, and are extraordinarily helpful. I got him on the phone, and he can figure out what's wrong over the phone, brings the parts out in a timely manner and gets the job done. I can't say enough good about him.

Not the best experience. Later, we tested the machine and it still didn't work. We called the next day and learned from the receptionist that Mr. Kent thought that the machine would work fine after he left. After I expressed our disagreement with the repair how it was handled, she said that the machine had a factory defect and they needed to order a replacement part for it. I didn't like that they were waiting from me to call again with the same issue. If they know that that was a common defect, why wait; it should be fixed, even if they have to make a second trip. In addition, I don t like the fact that I was told by the receptionist that they were making us a favor by coming to see our machine. Even though I wasn t paying for that service call, the factory was reimbursing them for it because it was under warranty.
