They were willing to move us up on their list of projects because they considered us an emergency, since I work with children out of my home. They were wonderful around the children! The price was accurate. They did have to remove a plant from my yard to do the work, but they replaced it when the job was done. They were careful to work around trees in my yard as to not cause any damage. I just can't say enough good things about them. I have referred them to many friends.

When the neighbors had a sewer back up (over Christmas ... ugh ... poor things), their contractor discovered that our two houses had a shared sewer line. The City told us we had 180 days to get our own line installed and provided a list of contractors (which I checked against Angie's list of course!) After three estimates, including one from our neighbor's contractor who would have been an obvious pick, we went instead to Sierra Excavation and were glad we did. For the estimate, Mr. Ubaldo Sierra came out promptly after my call. He was courteous, and clear about what his company would do. He answered his own phone and returned voice mails promptly. We selected his family-owned company based on price, their description of how they'd approach the work, and recommendations from others. The crew arrived on time on the day they said they would come (early in fact), worked clean, and finished the two day job on time. We live in a close-in city neighborhood where parking is at a premium and pedestrians need to walk by safely. The Sierra crew was sensitive to impact, avoided blocking driveways, and used a minimum of parking spaces for trucks and equipment. For example, they put excavated dirt into a dump truck, drove it off for the night, and brought the dirt back when it was time to re-fill the hole the next day. No big piles of dirt! The hole was only as big as it needed to be and the job lasted less than two days. When the job was done it looked as good as new (and was even tidy the night between the work days). The invoice arrived right away, and included a copy of the inspection report. I recommend this company highly. This kind of good work should be rewarded with commercial success.

Ubaldo and his crew are so great. They were in and out in no time and all is well. This is the second job on a different property.

We had to wait a bit as they are in high demand but was well worth it as they did a great job. Always checking in with us in the meantime to make sure we weren't having any problems. We had developed a small sink hole in our side yard. Our old sewer pipe had begun to leak over the old cesspool. Sierra Co. came in and carefully worked around our landscaping to dig up the old line and replace it. Always carefully explaining as they went along with the work. All city permits and arrangements for the Inspectors were handled by them so there was nothing for us to do but stand back and watch. They were in and out in just a few short hours! As it was very rainy at the time of the job, they were unable to pour the concrete over the patch in the road at the time of our sewer repair but they came back as soon as it dried out. I highly recommend using Sierra Co., you may have to wait but you can be sure that the work is done right!

The sewer line was going through the neighbor's house, so we wanted to change it. We got the estimates from other companies but they were not comfortable to the work we wanted and kept complaining for everything. Sierra Excavation & Construction came out and gave the estimate but they were busy after that as they were handling emergency cases. They explained us the reason for the delay in coming out. I would grade them high across all categories except for punctuality.

The company did an excellent job. Both the owner and his brother were very pleasant to work with and answered all my questions. I would highly recommend them.

Our real estate agent recommended Ubaldo Sierra for our sewer line installation. We are first time home buyers and were nervous about the cost of a new sewer line. We are very pleased to say that Ubaldo and his crew helped us through the jitters of a first major renovation job! Ubaldo was prompt in returning our phone calls and was super friendly. He came over for the estimate, checked everything out and fully explained what the process would entail. We set up a date for the work to begin - on that date, Ubaldo personally drove over to our house to let us know that another one of his jobs was taking a little bit longer than he thought and asked if he could begin working the next week. I was impressed by Ubaldo's courtesy and customer service. On May 28th, 2009, Ubaldo and his crew came out to the house and finished the sewer line installation in two days. They kept everything neat and clean, were very polite, and worked all day to finish the job. We have a hundred year old rhodedendron growing in the way of where the sewer line had to be installed - they carefully and respectfully worked around its roots so that there would be no damage to our beautiful blooming tree! The final touches were to repair the sidewalk in the front of the house and to lay down grass seed where they had dug to install the line - WONDERFUL JOB OVERALL.

We are on a sewer line with two other houses. It has been this way since 1932. It is against the law now so we got the ball rolling to have this taken care of. We liked them. They were nice guys. The experience was good. They showed up on time for their appointments, were thorough and explained everything to us. He was very prompt and knowledgeable. He seemed to know his stuff. He was very sharp. We got his bid in the mail today.

I contacted Ubaldo based on his Angie's List testimonials to give me a bid on a new sewer line installation. About a week after we talked on the phone, I happened to be home and he stopped by unannounced to look at the house to prepare his bid. He was very friendly and nice and seemed to know what he was talking about. He said he would send me a bid in a few days. I never heard from him.

No story to tell other than the frustration of not getting a call back after finally connecting in the first place.

They were great except for one thing and that was that his promptness was not very good. He was very attentive on the phone and when he got here he did a great job. It took him over a month to actually come out though. He did have good reasons for not being able to come. He got great ratings.

They were absolutely fantastic. We had no problems at all with them. The work was excellent and they treated us very nicely. They got the work done, they passed inspection the first time. It's as good as any project could ever go.

Amazing. They were so incredible from start to finish. They were especially sensitive to not harming my cherry tree that was an obstacle to the access to the sewer line and took extra measures to make sure that it wasn't harmed. Very dedicated, efficient team of people.

It went great. His final bill was much much lower than the verbal bid he gave us. He also gave us free dirt for backfilling (on his time frame naturally). There were times we were not his first priority but we were just glad we fit into his schedule because Ubaldo helped us tremendously.

I was very impressed with all of the reports on Angie's List for this company. I was very impressed with how honest and thorough the owner was when I met with him.

The crew showed up on time and were very courteous. They were careful to place plywood over the lawn, so the tractor didn't damage the grass. The job was completed in about 4 hours (included inspection by city!). After the repair was done, they replaced all the plants, the bark dust, and even put the portion of fence back up that had been removed.

I can't say enough good about Sierra Excavation. I would not have thought it possible for a sewer line replacement to be a pleasant experience, but these guys were so considerate and professional that it was actually enjoyable to have them around. They consulted me along the way and worked successfully to avoid harming any of my plants. When they realized that the neighbor's line was still connected, they worked with me to contact the owners (great neighbors). Once they had approval, they managed to get the permits and additional work done very quickly. After they finished, there was almost no sign that work had been done. I have recommended them to everyone I know, just in case!

We had problems with our main sewer line. It was the original terra cotta line (house built in 1915) running from the house to the city's main sewer system. Our sewer line runs under a driveway which is shared with a neighbor. Ubaldo was a pleasure to work with. He was responsive and enthusiastic about our project. When work day came, his crew was on time and very considerate of our neighbors with the shared driveway. We were told it would be a two day job start to finish, and this expectation was met. Best of all, had we not known the work was being done we would have never known they had been there. Bottom line, Sierra met the quote on budget and on time, and Sierra exceeded our expectations on quality of service and consideration of our neighbors. Highly recommended.

Ubaldo came to give me an estimate, and he seemed very confident about doing the work, and had a reasonable price. It did take several tries to set the date for getting the work started, but it was during the holidays and a very heavy rainy season, and I was calling at the last minute to have the work done. It was worth the wait, though, because they were very fast, competent and thorough. The water was only off for several hours - I thought it might be down for a day or two. They came at 9:30 and the hook-up was complete by 2:30. They were very conscientious about cleaning up, and considerate of the neighbor's property as well. The cesspool excavation required twice the estimate for the pumping because it was such a deep pit, but he asked if I would split the extra cost with him, and I agreed. It took 3 dump truck loads of soil for filling it in, and they had to do the work by hand, as the backyard access was limited. They worked very hard in the pouring rain to complete the fill.

Great. Ubaldo is very friendly and professional. He fit us into his schedule, and was able to install the sewer pipe at the elevation we had hoped for. Quote was lower than another I had gotten. Due to the cold weather, he had to return a number of weeks later to patch the sidewalk, and didn't want any payment until the job was completed.

As part of our remodel, we had a screening on our sewer line, discovering several breaks. Our plumber recommended his sub and gave a bid of $3600. Given budget considerations, I wanted to obtain a few other bids. Upon searching on Angie's List, I shortlisted 2 contractors. I phoned Ubaldo on Saturday and he offered to come same day to evaluate the project. He was professional, knowledgeable, and took time to explain the scope of work required. He gave a bid while on site. After receiving the second contractors bid, I selected Sierra Construction because of both price and customer orientation. Ubaldo's crew arrived when promised. They brought all necessary equipment -- back hole, dumpster, and piping. The digging ended up to be 2' deeper than planned, but there were no additional charges. City inspection occurred same day, then fill and concrete followed the next. Concrete finish work was done well. Fair, knowledgeable, and responsive -- definitely a contractor I would highly recommen
