I thought things went well with the roof until I started having water issues inside the soffit, so I messaged the company about the water leaking and the dry rot. To be honest, I later learned that the dry rot was from failing gutter flashing and not the roof. Since I'm sure they were aware of this issue when they put the roof on, I would really have appreciated it if they had given me this information when they put the roof on. At any rate, I tried to contact the company about the water and they don't return calls or Angie's List messages. I think that means you're on your own after the check is in the bank so don't hold your breath.

I have to give Sager Roofing Inc. a FIVE STAR PLUS rating in all area?s.  Received 4 quotes, two having to take 5-days others 2 days.    Roof approximately 2100 SF.  First day Darell Sager and his crew of 5 started at 7:00am - Brought in there own port-a-potty did completed tear off of one layer of wood shakes and two layers of composition shingles including 30 lb. felt overlay right down to sheathing.   Then installed 1/2 CDS 5 ply strut 1 plywood over space sheathing, and synthetic underlayment over plywood.  This was completed first day and they left at 5:30pm.   Day two started at 8:00am,  Darell and crew of 5 installed CertainTeed TL architectural shingles and new vents, pipe covers,metal flushing,flash chimney,  and cleanup afterwords was excellent picking up tarps all around house,  even using a magnet tool to get any stray nails- did this twice.   Second and Final Day ended at  1:00pm,  Before each day Darell spends an hr with his crew going over each step they are going to do.   Darell makes sure he has the correct equipment his crew needs (trucks,trailers, tools) that makes the job run smoothly.  Bid was thorough and a professional quote.  I would highly recommend Sager Roofing.  James Brunelle

They were good. They were not actually excellent, but they were good and the roof has been good. The roof is fine, but it sounds like the foreman was the guy and this is not Mr. Sager's fault, I think he fired him, but the foreman after he did the work, I think he had an alcohol problem and he did not come drunk but then like six months after the roof was done he knocked on our door and he said he would like to borrow some money. The workers that were there doing the work most of them were good and they were charming.

Job was completed quickly and as promised. I now look at my neighbors roof who had his done by someone else with similar materials and ours looks remarkably better and seems to be holding up better. This is one of, if not the best roofing company in Portland.

Excellent experience, from the estimate to work completion. The owner Darrel Sager showed up a few minutes early, inspected the roof provided sample shingles and explained what he planned to do. Also, he was the only one who actually looked up in the attic to ensure that everything there was as expected. When we had some questions about the different shingle products he provided locations where we could review the work completed on other homes and businesses. He was very patient with us as we went back and forth on color etc. and was very responsive when we wanted to see other examples. He jumped in his truck and was at our house within an hour. Once we moved forward on the work he was again prompt and weather being a little unpredictable in Oregon, he had our house weather tight on the first day (it rained that evening). His team always arrived early on the subsequent days and they were very polite and answered all of our questions. They completed the entire job in a little less than three days. The site was clean and the roof has been pristine through several fairly significant rain storms. We would use this company again and really appreciate the owner and his team's efficiency.

We were very satisfied with this company's services. They responded promptly when we contacted them. Their estimated cost was described well in their contract and equal to the actual cost. We got one other estimate which was much higher. Sager operated very efficiently when they came to do the work, finishing our small house in about six hours.

He quoted a price of $185.00 and when I called him to let him know I was choosing him for the project. I never received a call back. I sent a letter to follow up and available dates and still never heard back. After several calls and never hearing back, I gave up on them. I feel I at least deserved the courtesy of a return phone call whether or not he wanted to do the project or not.

Everything was on time and on budget. The quote was 100% accurate; the crew arrived on time (with their own power supply and port-a-john and disposal bin); and the job was finished in one day (a 1000 square foot cottage with moderately simple roof structure). They did a great job of cleaning up the mess made by tearing off the old roof.

We chose a 30 year quality shingle, many extra vents, and once the original shingles were off, could see that the plywood base wood was almost all in bad shape. There were bathroom vent design flaws that added to the problem. So, the company owner Mr. Sager, was on site the whole time, consulted with us frequently about our preferences and gave advice and options. The roofing team all arrived together, multiple vehicles for various uses, got to work by 7 a.m with the deconstruction of the roof cover, worked hard all day ( even had lunch on site, set up in driveway with all their own supplies for lunch) and didn't waste any time by leaving for lunch. They had their own port a potty, kept the site clean and cleaned up remnants to their own dumpster, and left in the late afternoon with the job complete. When we decided to replace much of the old plywood, which was in obviously poor shape, the owner went to get it, leaving his foreman in charge, and the work continued on pace.

Wonderful. I called for an estimate and Darrell came out within a few days. He gave me a written estimate on the spot. He told me all the work could be done in two days. I called soon thereafter to schedule the work, and he said we had to wait until the weather wasn't rainy. About 1-2 months later when the rain subsided, he called on a Friday and said he could start work on Monday, and I confirmed this was OK. He and his crew promptly showed up at 7AM. They did the garage the first day. They returned promptly at 7AM the next day and did the entire house that was a long day (until around 7 or 8 PM). Darrell said his crew was one man short due to illness - they would have finished sooner otherwise. They hauled all the old roofing material away and did an excellent job cleaning up once they finished. Everybody was hard working. Darrell is exceptionally organized, and all the crew members worked well together to get the job done quickly. My neighbors were all impressed as well.

Sager rolled in about 8am and was done by 5pm that night. They were very professional and worked very hard to get the job done. They were clean and respected my plants around the house.

I was very pleased with the outcome. I have a very steep roof. My home is sixty years old and required plywood installed over skip sheathing. I had eighteen squares installed. It took his crew of eight men one eleven hour day to completely re-roof my house. The yard was completely free of debris when they finished. The crew worked very professionally. Everyone knew exactly what they needed to do. I had four other bids ranging up to $12,000.00. Sager was actually the lowest bid. He was recommended by a friend. I would not hesitate having his company roof another house.

Excellent work done in a timely manner with hard working crew. They started promptly at 6:45 a.m. and complete everything with efficiency and care.

We were very satisfied with the work. We paid a high price, but it was worth it. We had developed some leaks, so we had to replace 24 sheets of plywood. He found time to put us into a time slot where two days of good weather was predicted. They completed the full job and had at least ten people on the roof. The foreman was very good and cooperative. They finished it in one day and took away all the materials and did all the caulking. It rained the next two days, and had we not gotten it done I'm sure we would've had interior damage. It was also extremely organized and the roof looks great. The owner also checked a couple of times and was pleasant on the job.

The prices were very high. They charged me more on the skylights. I wanted a roof vent, and he said he would have to replace the plywood which was very high. I didn't like his attitude. And would not change the bid, he wasn't flexible. I ended up paying for two types of vents. They were pretty professional and cleaned up after themselves. They take advantage of older people. Stay Away.

The crew was the most efficient group of workers that we have ever seen. They were pleasant and worked into the darkness because it might be raining the next day. The job was larger than anticipated, but they keep working very hard. One of the crew was in charge of clean-up, and he constantly kept old shingles, and other odds and ends picked up. They arrived early and stayed late. When they left, there was not a bit of debris left. The workmanship was excellent. We would definitely recommend this company.

Sager Roofing responded promptly to our call to have them come fix two leaks. We ended up arranging for them to replace the whole roof, which they did promptly and efficiently. They left everything immaculate and were very pleasant to work with.

I have known Mr Sager for about 20 years. We have had many business dealings not limited to but including: My x-girlfriends roof, my lawyers roof, my mothers roof, former employers roof, his son's roof, roof on two of my rental houses, and the worst possible one was my own house. We had to do my house in two horrible phases do to the scale and complexity of the project. He worked with me on the critical timing for phase two. ( I had to saw the top off my house and reframe the entire roof) Without his help my house would likely have gone the way of demolition by trackhoe. The trackhoe method would have been much more satisfying, but I probably saved an easy 60k doing it this way. He stands behind his work and deals fair and square. Highly recommended by me.
