About us

Northwest Specialty Floor Refinishing LLC is a Portland based company of only two employees Ray Nastasia (owner/operator/technician)and Marcel Kuettel (flooring technician). We have over 15 years of experience refinishing floors throughout the Portland area. We have a well established client base of wonderful fellow Oregonians and pride ourselves on our quality of work and our customer relationships. We do not use any subcontractors and the majority of our projects are started and finished in one day. We are licensed with the Construction Contractors Board (CCB# 184089) and are also insured and bonded for residential and commercial projects. We offer free estimates and in most cases can quote jobs via e-mail given an accurate description of the area. The average residential kitchen refinishing job ranges between $175.00 to $350.00. What we feel to be a very reasonable price to pay to have your old dingy floors look like new again. Being new to the Angie's List community we are offering a 10% discount off of our service when mentioning angie's list. To sum it up, I am a hard working father of three wonderful kids (two in diapers) and look forward to establishing many new clients and relationships throughout our community hopefully for many years to come.

Great local company! We had a combination of old and new VCT tiles. In total it was just under 1000 sq ft. Marcel was incredibly professional and helped us immensely. We never owned a home with VCT and he explained everything we would need to know for maintenance. We thought the old tiles were almost unsalvageable but Marcel brought them back to life! They had lots of dirt but also grout, paint and rust marks. He suggested a gloss finish and the floors are amazing. The job took a longer than planned because of the tough cleaning, but the price remained in the range he initially quoted. We are so pleased and will definitely be customers again.

Marcel.showed up right on time he looked at the job, explained what he would do and could do. It was a large job and he called in reinforcements when he determined he would need help. He was professional, diligent, delivered as promised and did a fabulous job! I was pleased and thankful.

The floor looks better.  Because of the nature of Marmoleum some of the dull spots look much better but aren't completely gone.

There's not much glamour in this type of work, but they did the job efficiently and professionally.  The owner clearly cares about flooring, since he made sure to give me tips on floor care.  A no-nonsense good job!

Marcel was courteous, hard-working, and knowledgeable. He knew exactly what to do with our marmoleum that was a mess from a previous attempt to remove the acrylic floor finish mistakenly applied.  There were large patches of floor with different finishes showing through and he evened it all out and left it 100x better than it was.

We have used Ray for years for various floors and we have always been satisfied. This time Marcell did the work. He did an excellent job. After the job was complete our housecleaners spilled something on the floor and messed up the finish, and Marcell was nice enough to come back out and correct their error. They take care of their clients! Highly recommended.

Marcel showed up on time, set up equipment in such manner as not to damage other house areas, performed tasks and cleaned up after himself. Work was done as promised and clean up was thorough. Marcel also did a good job on repairing some small nicks in the Marmoleum.

Marcel did an excellent job. He describes himself as a perfectionist and so do we. The flooring was in terrible shape and badly stained because a rug had previously been glued to the floor. We had our doubts that he could resurrect this floor. We were pleasantly surprised! Marcel works very hard and is extremely detail oriented. There were a few places that he wasn't happy with, but when we go back to look for them, we can't even find them.
