I needed some spring cleaning done and contacted Molly Maids after seeing good reviews. The owner scheduled a prompt home inspection for an estimate. She showed up later that afternoon in a new Lexus. After a cursory inspection and some "Calculations" she concluded that it would take two cleaners four hours to do the job..at an hourly rate of ~$110. When asked about the cost, she referenced "minimum wage going up" ($10.25). The cleaners showed up right on time, and worked very, very hard. I felt awful knowing how poorly they were being paid so that the owner could line her pockets and pay the lease for her new Lexus. Yay capitalism? Anyway, the actual cost ended up exceeding the estimate by ~25%. Knowing the cost of living in the Portland area, I don't feel good about hiring this service and will contract with individuals rather than franchises in the future.
