Ted makes beautiful furniture, the old fashioned way. We opted for a cherry bed with a walnut accent panel. He delivered and set up the bed as promised and we are very happy customers. The other items, two nightstands and three sizable dressers, will be made of cherry, with walnut tops, are due soon for delivery. Ted is great to work with. His work is detailed and beautiful, and his prices are fair. You'd pay much more elsewhere for an inferior product.

Ted and his staff were very helpful.  They invited me into the workshop, showed me the different options in terms of style of bed frame, types of wood and finish.  They helped me to make an informed decision which allowed me to make the ideal selection for me.  The turnaround time to make the frame was just a few days and the finished product was just what we hoped it would be.  For a good value and quality product Mission Craft is a great place to buy furniture.

Didn't get the bed when he said we would.. had to call him everyday to see where our product was. He had a bad attitude and was angry with us because we wanted the bed we had paid for. I honestly didn't think we would even get the bed we had paid for. He has a million excuses of why its not done. He is very unprofessional and at one point even hung up the phone on me because he said he was getting p***** because i wasn't being understanding of his situation. His excuses ranged from employees not showing up to work to his dog was dying. Either way he was very unprofessional. Do yourself a favor and don't go to this guy.

Missioncraft is a relatively small operation located just west of Portland in the town of Linnton on Highway 30.  I had been seeking to replace a mission style sofa, but had discovered that this style is no longer as popular as it was a decade or so ago.  Locally, I visited The Joinery, which features high quality hand-crafted furniture and a beautiful showroom on SE Woodstock.  However, their quality and overhead are reflected in their pricing.  For the type of sofa I was looking for, constructed either in cherry or quarter-sawn oak, we were quoted in the low to mid $4,000 range.

After visiting Missioncraft in mid-December, I ordered the sofa, modeled on the design I saw at The Joinery, this time constructed in Brasilian Cherry at a quoted price of $1,500.  I provided the fabric (purchased at "The Whole Nine Yards") which ran another $200.

The sofa was delivered, free of charge, to my home this past Saturday, and I am extremely pleased with the overall quality of the construction and finish.  It is really quite beautiful.

There were a few hitches in the transaction which were relatively slight to me, but could be more bothersome to others.

Missioncraft is a small operation with perhaps three craftsman (primarily owner Ted Imel) and a few others.  They have a small office fronting the factory area and a showroom about two blocks to the west.  The showroom features about a dozen items, but it is otherwise pretty unimpressive.  It is really an afterthought and there was little effort made to set it up to look professional.  There is even a motorcycle and pool table stored in the show space.

Your transactions are pretty much limited to Ted Imel, and while he is a first-rate craftsman, he is not a really polished salesman and this might turn some people off.  I had some second thoughts, but was sufficiently impressed by his products to take a risk and it really did pay off in the end.

The only other issue was that it took about five to six weeks to take delivery on the sofa, whereas Ted suggested it would take only two to three. We were in no rush and could afford to be patient.   He is not the most pro-active communicator, so you need to be patient and take the intiative to call for updates.

For these reasons, I am giving him an overall "B".  The quality and price points both rate "A" in my opinion, but the service and communication issues were frankly in the "C" range, and if we had been in a real rush to get the sofa, they would have been a bit lower.

The business owner, Ted Imel, delivered to our home a bug infested dresser. For six weeks he claimed he was replacing the dresser only to deliver the same infested dresser. We did not allow the dresser back into our home. His website states: "Lifetime Warranty". We gave Mr. Imel four months to return our money. He was defiant and challenged us to sue him. We were granted a judgement July 21, 2011 (Small Claims Case #110016876S) from Multnomah County Court. We have not yet received any payments from Mr. Imel. While filing for Small Claims, we discovered that Mission Craft Furniture is not a licensed business nor is it registered with the State of Oregon.
