MacTechHelp
About us
MacTechHelp is a Macintosh specific business providing on-site and remote service, sales, support and training to individuals and businesses using Apple/Macintosh products. MacTechHelp is operated by Andy Harrison, a self-professed "Mac geek" and technology consultant. MacTechHelp has been providing technology services to clients since 1998, and currently services Mac users in cities throughout the world, including Portland, OR, Las Vegas, NV, New York, NY, and many other locations. As technology has continued to increase in complexity, MacTechHelp provides clients with an understanding of the tools they have, which helps them make use of available technology in a simpler fashion. Individual Example (Rod): Many individuals use their computers for very specific tasks, however most of them feel they are underutilizing their technology. I assure you, this isn't what it's supposed to be about. No one uses their computers to their fullest potential, we use them as we need to use them. Consider Rod's need to learn how to scan and organize data with his specific scanner and software. MacTechHelp provided Rod with direct, one-on-one set-up and training of his specific set-up, and left him with visual instructions to refer to from the initial scan to final archival organization. With these notes, Rod has become much more able to function as an individual computer user and has a greater understanding of the process. Business Example (Virtus): Many small businesses over-complicate their approach to technology. Some companies start out saying "We need a server". MacTechHelp would begin by asking, "What do you feel a server would do for you, and how much of it's capability do you feel your business would take advantage of?" Consider Virtus and their need to share files with 7-10 employees, even when some employees are in the office and some are out. Virtus' need is strictly related to file sharing between employees. There is no need for a server, as a server would overcomplicate the office environment, add support costs and require additional resources. MacTechHelp provided the recommendations and set-up so Virtus could get started. The solution was a more direct, network hard drive, accessible by all employees in the office and connected to a web-based service which allows those employees outside the office to connect securely and share files. With this simplified setup, Virtus can accomplish their goal of data sharing without the excess cost and headache of a server. Many technology services are provided, and some other possibilities may include: General device connectivity, data/device syncing, wireless networking, email & web hosting set-up, in-home technology recommendations (HDTV, Blueray, etc.). Rates are $65 per hour + $7.50 per 30mins traveled. A senior discount is available.
